  1. Hi MatJaz I went swimming after shunt and as my leg wouldn't let me swim, I had to swim under water. Now I know it isn't the same but just stating I swam along the bottom of pool and it helped. Done 2 lengths under (See told you it wasn't the same) Good luck on getting your life back xx Win xx
  2. Hello Ash, I was similar to Daffs and your Dad. Grade 4 but I do not remember anything. Asked family if I was sick and they said "No" My family are people of few words lol xx Wishing your Dad well and keep an eye on sickness or see Doc xxx Good luck to you and Dad Win xxxx
  3. I agree talking over your worries does help Wayne. I sing happy songs off key xx Try it lol
  4. Wayne, Welcome to BTG alias Behind the Grey. Do not know what to say about your personal life !! Sad though. All I know is that after an SAH/Bleed I was told we do not need stress in our lives by my Surgeon. I wish you well on your road to recovery, and keep well. Regards Win
  5. I agree with Louise Boxa, if in doubt sort it out.. Stress is bad for us so we must relax. When poss !! I got a lot of cramps in my feet mainly, got looked at weirdly when stamped my foot when it got caught and toes crossed arghhhh !! I heard from someone Tonic water helped with cramps, so I got myself a 6 pack of small bottles, as I thought nothing ventured etc. might have been mind over matter !! Must admit I do not get them as much, could be my brain fooling me though as I put mine through a lot. Good luck and keep recovering xx Win xxxxx
  6. Just take your time and you will find way around the site then another day you'll go and forget it ha ha Keep Well Win xxxxxxxxxx
  7. Hi Boom, Not nice to have are they small or large xx mess our lives up. I was out for quite a while after my Bleed and Hydrocephalus kept me there along with other problems. You will get better but it is a long haul. I say to my husband did I tell you that and he goes "yes Win twice " so if you see a man with a black eye that'll be my hubby lol Short term memory loss is usual, now ask me what happened 23 years ago I am okay but anything short term is a blur. You are recovering and it does get better, I couldn't remember my address so hubby wrote it on the wall and would cover it every morning and say "Where do we live". I sing songs to remember, it helps, so try it when you feel up to singing but only happy songs xxxx Keep Well Boom Winb143 xxxx
  8. Hi Vermont Girl, When I was in hospital for SAH, they found out I was allergic to codeine, so I take paracetamol. Some of us on here get what I call barometer heads, when there is a storm brewing we get thick heads and feel the pressure build up but we are not medical so see Doc and put your mind at ease. My surgeon told me stress is bad for us so I'll pass it on to you xx You take care and think happy thoughts as we are Survivors, wishing you all the best. Good luck and remember happy thoughts only when possible XX Regards Winb143
  9. Well written Sarah. xx And I think I have it bad as feeling tired, it is good to be a survivor isn't it and see there are quite a few of us !! I find happiness helps me over rough patches and my Parents left me with a load of happy memories, I still talk to them when needed lol I find music helps also but only happy songs xxx Keep in touch and perhaps might see you post in the green room soon. Good luck Winb143 xxxx
  10. Jan I just wrote in Green Room about I feel so creamed and am a lazy cough cough. I do hope you feel better and never let it beat you it nearly beat me, my fingers ache typing and I go to bed and cannot sleep !! I cannot take a joke at the moment lol, serious not funny. Feel like my energy has gone and so miserable ha ha Wonder if hubby will come in tonight. I put it down to heat. We cannot let a rough patch beat us now open them windows and let the neighbours hear, better than getting all hot and bothered xx Be Well Jan and we will put it down to heat zzzzz sleepy head here signing off Win xxxxxxxxxx Hands Jan a moody smile xxxxx
  11. Hi Rick, My surgeon told me not to stress so I sing when worried about anything. My husband got me a BP Monitor and he tried it on himself to see how it worked, and his BP was 200 over something so he is on BP pills now. He blames the worry of me for it. Bless him. Keep a check on it Rick and lets hope it goes down, as for the headaches we all got them in the early days. If worried always see your Doc. I get a buzzing noise in ears drives me potty but Doc said it is sometimes usual after a bleed ??? Good luck Win xxxx
  12. Hi Blue or Coy dog, This site made me know I was not alone and it helped my Daughter, while I was in cuckoo land, she had someone to talk to about her worries. Keep a smile close at hand and any songs when down start singing them, drives my hubby potty ha ha Welcome and hope to talk more xxx Regards WinB143 xx
  13. Listen to Daffs, Tori. and do not give up xx Because I have always been a moo I was an awkward patient ie they gave me shapes to put in the right holes and I banged them in knowing it didn't fit. Even my Daughter said "Mum you used to cry when OT's came near you" I just had a feeling they never meant me any good, Hydrocephalus !! maybe lol Then they told my Daughter to grieve for me as I'd never be the same person I was before. My husband didn't agree with them phew !!! He knew I was in there somewhere. Fight for Mum and keep singing to her xxxxx Never say never and I hope Mum gets well soon xxxxxxx
  14. Since finding this site in 2010 I have come on leaps and bounds. Knowing we are not alone is great and I remember chatting to some old members as in GG, not in age !! and they could laugh, and that helped me so much. We are not alone and if it takes good times with bad to get us there. We are lucky we survived all what our head went through xx Keep positive as Greg says xxxxx Good to have reminders, it is like a kick up the bot for us xxxx
  15. I agree with all what Clare says Tori. As long as you can see improvement, let the hospital worry about tech. details you worry about getting Mum back xx I remember my daughter playing a game with my hand but she was doing therapy on my hand. Also I asked her to give me my bag up and got annoyed at her as I thought I was in a café with her but it was lunch in hospital xxxx All this I am told by Daughter and we had a good laugh about it. Take care of you and Mum and keep Mums spirit up xxx You are a good daughter xxxx
  16. I waited for results Weedrea and they just signed me off and if I felt a bit rough to make appointment via my Doc. Touch wood xxx no need as of yet xx Good luck on results Love Win xxxxx
  17. We will get there eventually Elaine and it is a long haul. We get good days and bad days, today was my bad day (misery Win ) lol But we get more good days than bad the longer we keep going. Take care and try not to stress as it is bad for you xx All the Best Win xxxxxxxxxxxxx
  18. I do hope all turns out well for Mum and your wedding Tori xx Bless you. Glad Mum is making some improvement ie moving arm I remember seeing my Daughter in her school uniform walking with her Dad but she was in her 30's when I had my SAH, guess it was a dream but she looked so sad I run to her and that's when my shunt kicked in. You and your Family take care and naturally Mum xx as we'd be lost without our Family xx Love Win xxxxx
  19. Hi Tori, I had Ventriculitis after drains put in and I remember nothing. My hubby insisted that him and my Daughter take it in turns to look after me, I was never left alone xx My Sisters used to sing to me also. This is what I am told as I remember zilch . I wish your Mum all the best and hope she goes from strength to strength, you have a long haul both you and Mum xxxx After a year I had a shunt put in as I had Hydrocephalus, I was told I woke up and sang to nurse who promised me she'd put my cross on !! I can only tell you what happened to me, but singing old songs helped me xxx and being spoken to, although I couldn't reply. Keep Mum happy and sing she might not look like she can hear but I was told I corrected my Sisters on wrong words xx Good luck Tori's Mum xxxxx
  20. I take them because my Doc wants me to lose weight, I would rather not take them. I shake rattle and roll already. Does he listen sheesh NO !! Dropped 2 dress sizes and am an old dear cannot afford to lose more off my face !! Botty maybe ha ha Love Win the Wrinkly
  21. Hi Kris, I had an SAH4 and I drank, smoked and worked with Hubby so a lot of stress. I was very ill after my bleed with other things like Ventriculitis, Sepsis etc. People gave up on me but not my Family. My daughter found this site and I have not looked back since. I do keep away from people telling me sad sob stories as I cannot take others problems I try and surround myself with happiness So just take each day as it comes and keep happy if possible, remember back before bleed and fun moments when you laughed until you cried. Be happy and take it one day at a time, some days are better than others. We will all get there eventually. There being a good place xxxx Good luck Winb143 xxxx
  22. Sophie I have a niece called Sophie so you keep going forward and we are always pleased to hear from you as it gives others hope. Remember there is a life after SAH xx Go forward and spread the word ha ha xxx So pleased for how your life is going forward. Be happy and stress free for the future xxxx (when possible) if you feel a stress moment start singing or think of funny times xx Love Win xxxxxxx the old girl with a funny name ha.
  23. I used to get itchy head and I always bathed it in salt water, you might say "why salt water" it is because my Mum swore by it and it helped my scars heal up. If it continues then see Doc and do not stress yourself out. It could be part of healing, my head felt like I had fleas lol it itched so much hence warm salt water rinse. Good luck Sairah and keep in touch xxx Regards Winb143
  24. Hi V Girl Do what you feel is okay for you..I went swimming and couldn't keep my legs under water but I swam under the water on bottom of pool and came up fighting for breath !! I kept at it and it was good for me. Do what you feel comfortable in doing xx Good luck Win xxxxxx
  25. Hi Rio Rita, We can be hard work, I knew I was getting better after my SAH when hubby moaned at me !! He is feeling low at the moment but no need to take it out on you xx Sure he doesn't mean it !! Has he been out for a coffee as I do not remember much but my hubby took me out a lot. I still ask but not so forward about it anymore Grrrr lol Good luck and try getting him out more xxxxx My Dad started having them at 86 and we thought he had the hump !!! He moaned at his tea didn't taste right and now I know what he went through as I get weird tastes and smells also !! Good Luck Winb143 xxxxxx singing helped me but was awful for others lol
