  2. Hi Thanks to you all for your replies. My Mum and myself attending one of dad's physio sessions on Wednesday so we can help him with any exercises we can whilst we visit, at the moment they are concentrating on Dad's sitting balance and getting strength back on his trunk and core muscles . In terms of his legs he can tap both feet quite well and yesterday I was getting him to lift his legs about 6 inches off the floor to touch my hand from a sitting and lying down position which he did, I am confident there is good movement there. The physios said at the moment the brain is having to work hard to communicate with the right muscles which in time will improve , we will keep pushing daily and Dad is a very determined man Thanks All and take care yourselves x x
  3. Hi Laura Hope you are ok, your story is very similar to my Dad who had a ruptured anuerysm on the 2nd June 2015, he is doing well and the doctors are pleased with his progress. If you don't mind me asking, at what stage did the physios start to get your Dad standing and walking x x x x
  4. Hi I am James's sister Kath, today has been a good day for Dad. We visited him and he appeared good today, having lots of sensible conversations about the golf club and what we had been up to. They have reduced the level of food via the NG tube and dad even commented on how he enjoyed his lunch of fish pie. We had been shopping for Dad as he had asked for certain things, mum made his corn beef hash with mashed carrot and swede which he ate well followed by a trifle and a high protein and calcium strawberry milk shake which was great to see. We hope this eating continues which we will all encourage. The next stage we need to encourage is standing and walking which with strong pyhsio we hope dad will master which I am sure we will. Thanks for all your above comments it really does help to hear from other SAH survivors I admire you all x
  5. Hi all, I am new to all this, however need some advise. over 8 weeks ago my dad suffered a SAH and has been through so much in critical care from coiling and various operations to 6 weeks on high dependancy and having a shunt fitted which did improve him. He is now in a stroke rehabilitation hospital and the realisation is starting to set in for him. he's still got an NG feeding tube in although they are introducing soft normal food options which he is refusing to eat some of the time. They are starting pyhsio and occupational therapy with him, but yesterday he refused that. when we went to see him he said he was depressed and we can totally see that which is heart breaking. I need some advise as to what we can do to help this. he so so wants to try and walk but at the moment the physios are focusing on sitting balance. I think as he has so much time sat in hospital this is too much thinking time between my mum my brother myself and his friends. we visit 4 hours each day which is what we are allowed but I am concerned the rest of the time he gets very little interaction any advice would help thanks.
