  1. Hi, I am post SAH coiling now for 3 years, I too had the same problems as you and realised that I was suffering from depression brought on by the trauma, I now take prescribed medication for that and I feel much better. (I realise that this is not for everyone but it worked for me) My short term memory is also shocking! and has never recovered but I am now back to normal fitness and hard at it at the gym. I realise that I am very lucky and that things could have been a lot worse. Hope this helps Margaret
  2. Hi, On returning home after my SAH I did notice that my vision had deteriorated suddenly, blurry vision, double vision and needing glasses to read things on the TV which I had been able to read before. The double vision did subside after about 6 weeks although my overall sight has deteriorated slightly. Margaret
  3. Hi, I also was terrified of flying after I had coils fitted , and was told the same as you. My first flight was to Bermuda and I was a nervous wreck!!! Since then I have flown several long haul flights with no adverse effects and now I am a much calmer frequent flyer. Hope this helps and please don't be afraid... go and enjoy your life!!!
  4. Hi John, I must admit I did think the same thing, but then realised that he had an aneurysm which had not yet ruptured, mine was a ruptured one so I cannot comment on his treatment or recovery, maybe someone on here could comment on this. Thank you for the post John as I was wondering too. Margaret
  5. Hi, I have just had my 2yr scan and like you was very anxious, all I can say is mine was only10-15mins this time as opposed to 40 the last. Last time I very nearly pressed the button my anxiety was that great! this time I concentrated on a song and kept playing one word over and over in my head ( it did help me) also you could try taking yourself off to a place you love be it real or imaginary , somewhere you feel safe X I do hope this helps and then hopefully when this one is done that's it!!! and at lease it is not painful XX Good luck
  6. Hi, I had my SAH in June 2012 and like you got a little better and then started getting constant headaches ,bad tempered and depressed, my first yearly follow up scan showed all was well with the coils, I eventually after another year of constant headaches went to my GP who diagnosed depression and panic attacks ( normal for what I had been through) I had only been taking the tablets for 3weeks when my panic attacks and headaches disappeared , I began to feel more like 'me' again. I do still suffer from some headaches but not too many and have just had my 2yearly MRI scan . I am waiting for the results at the moment so will ley you know how I get on x Hope this helps, and please try not to worry x Good luck x
  7. Hi, its been awhile since I've been on here and was coping very well, but just recently I am having doubts about my recovery and don't seem to be getting anywhere with my GP or Consultant. I am post coiling SAH 2 and a half years now and cannot find answers. I am getting headaches and neck pain almost everyday now ,I was due a 2nd scan a couple of months ago and have not heard anything yet. My consultant although very good at what he does has no bedside manner and could not understand why I wanted answers to my questions on our meeting 3 months after my coiling, telling me only that I was 'fixed' easy for him to say!!! I want to believe him but without the 2year scan to prove that everything is ok I am finding it difficult to do 'normal' exercise for fear of something happening. Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer to another consultant? or to go from NHS to Private? My GP has no experience of coiling and has told me as much.
  8. Thank you all so much for all your advice and personal stories, they have reassured me quite a lot, it is good to know that there are others like me
  9. Hi, I am new here although I had my haemorrhage in June 2012. I had no warning on that day, was sitting at my sisters having a family 'meeting' when I felt a rushing in my ears, dizzyness and the the sudden painful headache. I was taken by ambulance and had a CT scan which showed the bleed, the following day I had surgery for coiling of my burst anurysm. I have been very lucky!! My recovery has been great and the coiling has healed well, however I am now starting to suffer panick attacks, a very stiff neck and some ear popping (like when you fly) I guess I am just needing some reassurance?
