  1. Hello Bagpus sorry for the late reply but have been having difficulties with the changes to the web and had to re-register Firstly wellcome to BTG, I am another of those who like you/Sally/Janet/karen and quite a few other had a 3rd nerve palsy. I too had to ait 15 days to get a right diagnose of my SHA and only got a ct scan done when my right eye closed and started with double vision. My eye took abt 2 months to open and at least a further 2 to 3 to gt from vision, like Sally and after a year I have double vision when looking to the extremes , except the left which is ok. Been told by a member of another site that if you get some improvement you will end up getting it all back but it takes about 2 to 3 years. Anyhow dont take my word for it as Karen has passed that time and still has difficulties. Anyhow you get used to it I guess, think of all the people who live with one eye due to an accident etc. Anyhow patience and time, that is what you need. Still very early days so be calm and take each day as it comes. Any questions pls feel free to ask:-D
  2. Thks for your words of sympathy and encouragement I must say i have the entire support from my boss and colleagues. Over here we do not have Occupational Health service, you are either under sick leave or working full time. In fact I havent been doing practically any work except looking at e-mails and making a few calls but even that is proving to been too much added to my nerves. I work at a shipping/forwarding agency, quite a hectic job and very demanding. Before my sha I had a number of employees under my supervision and right now i cant even manage to concentrate on the screen for too long. Of course I will give it some time, I have an appointment with the doctor in 2 months to evaluate the final side effects of the sha to my eye. I´ve been working for 30 years and still 15 years to go for retirement (much too long time if its going to be like this) but at the same time im too young to get a decent pension if they finally find I am not fit for work apart from the fight I will problably have to get that ¡¡¡
  3. hi all As I feared doctor found me fit for work, must be a joke¡¡¡ Went back on tuesday and its been HORRIBLE¡¡¡¡ to say the least eventhough I have only been doing 4 hours I really feel useless, dont know if its because of my nerves but stomach has been playing up on me, continuous nausea and feeling like throwing up all the time. Aside from the vertigo or strange head sentation as my right eye is partially paralized. 10 months away is a long time and I was used to getting up late and having a nap in the aftn. Must admit that during these months I slept perfectly during the night but since monday I wake up 2 or 3 times and unable to take aftn nap as too nervous. On the other hand at work I really find it difficult to concentrate eventhough my memory and skills are untouched. Really hope this improves but it would be nice to hear from others as to how you felt the 1st days you were back. If these 4 days are a sample of how its going to be for me in the future I better quit right away but at the same time kids are now grown up so what would I be doing the whole day?? Any tips would be welcome
  4. good aftn I too had my 1st control post sha about a month ago and they did a MRA. No dye put in so agree with others who suggesteed you get in touch and ask exactly what they will be doing exactly , perhaps the worry is for nothing
  5. HELLO TO ALL yesterday I had my 1st control after 9 months of my sha, everythig up there seems perfect and neurosurgeon said all coils compacted and even more, there is no longer a neck on my aneusym so next control sept 2011 My next issue is of course going back to work, Those to whom have spoken to privately know I have an issue with my right eye, non reactive or rather little reactive pupil, double vision on the extremes. I know Karen, Tina and Sally gave up work, Janet is working half day but anybody with this problem is working full time? I find that if I do not rest during the day my pupil really becomes huge, I feel a sort of pulling sentation in my eye and it tires me up so much and I end up weeikng completly blurry out of that eye. Really scared on going back to work but not going to give up 30 years for nothing¡¡¡ Luckily I have no other issues or 2nd effects. I really look forward to your reply
  6. Hi Willow and welcome to the site! hope to hear more from you when you feel like telling us your story. Anyhow you are doing great posting just a month after your sha
  7. wellcome Georgina, Im now on my 9th month post sha, no headaches but really doing nothing the whole day an sleeping a lot. Due to see my neurosurgeon next tuesday and propably will be bound fit for work eventhough suffering from III nerve palsy on my right eye. Anyhow according to Drs if you can walk, speak and do things for yourselve you are ok. Sorry, not able to help much but are good at listening
  8. hi Karen, wellcome to the site you seem very strong posting so soon, we are all hear to listen and try to help. You dont mention if you are left with any side effects? look forward to heareing more from you
  9. Hi Bubbles wellcome , we are here to listen whenever you feel strong enough to write. Recovering takes a long time, I also had my shah and coiling beg sept 2009 and still struggling with double and blurry vision. Spending most of my time sleeping not sure wether due to fatigue or simply bored but rather depresseed. Looking forward to hearing from you
  10. Wellcome to BTG Kylie I gave up smoking after my SHA but keep the habit of drinking normal coke which doesnt seem to affect me much. Could not cope with leaving both vices at a time¡¡ Look forward to hearing more from you, we are more of less same time post SHA and I still get fatigue, seem to sleep the whole day, perhaps because I am really boared and also depressive but time is a great healer so must be patient
  11. wellcome to the site Lisa I was told the falling of the hair had to do with all the medication I was given whilst at the ICU and during a whole month after the SHA, now 9 months post sha I no longer have this problem but i have short hair so perhaps that also helps. My husband daughter and mother had a real fight whilst I was in hospital and when I came home which really affected me. I decided for once in my life I was the most important and this sort of thing was not convenient for my healing. I live with my family (hubby+son as my daughter is now living with her boyfriend) so will not accept any interference into my life from any other source. I need all my energy to recover cannot afford to let anything out. YOU ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT ¡¡ YOU NEED ALL YOUR ENERGY TO RECOVER¡¡¡ look forward to seeing your posts
  12. congrats John on your 6 month anny-versary good luck with your new appointment I had my 1st MRI saturday after 9 months since my SHA (sure they are taking their time) just now waiting to hear as to the date of my appointment with neurosurgeon. No rush , my eye still giving me trouble. Good weather seems to be coming so hope it will cheer me up a bit which I really need
  13. hi, Katie Im also suffering depression for the last 7 months (9 monnths post sha) and visit spsycologist every week, apparently after such event some of us may suffer "post traumatic shock" which is my case and caused by being faced with a death threatening event in my life combined with others issues such as giving up smoking. No menstruation, no activiti when i was used to runing round every day at full speed. Apparently it takes a long time to get things back into place
  14. hi Maggie , wellcome and Happy birthday my heachaches or rather floating sensation eased off 5 months after sha but each one of us is different. Its very early days for you so give yourself time and look forward to your posting
  15. hi Katie, wellcome to BTG its just the right place for you, we all understand how you feel "inside" eventhough no outside scars. You will surely identify many of your feelings in the stories reflected here. I am on my 9th month and still struggling with vision problems. keep posting
  16. HI mARK and wellcome to BTG cant help much on the legal side view I live in Spñain but sure some of the members will. Just want to tell you it is very early stages in Annette's recovery. If she can it would be ideal she reads some of the stories in here, sure she/you will find identify something similar to what she is suffering. Above all lots of rest and patience and keep posting
  17. hi Paul Yes its just my right eye, I am very shortsighted anyhow.Tried the patching for over a month as initially could see double with the eye which made my head go crazy. Had a good laugh at the idea of you all chasing me round the block of houses jaja, would for sure keep me busy but think would need to put some benches over the place to have some rest otherwise we would all end up sick. Oftalmologist has today given me some vitamins b1-b6 and b12 to strenghten the nerve and some drops. Will see how that goes. It gets worse when I use my contact lenses?? Will visit a private oftalmologist when the 12 month mark comes up (apparently its the time they give this to heal or recover) if not recovered by then ........... Noboy else replyed to my message so guess none of the members suffered this additional problem. The double vision I can cope with but the enlangened pupil is really a problem Thks anyhow at least I had a good laugh
  18. Hi all any of you suffered with non reactive pupil apart from the III Nerve Palsy? After 8 months I seem to be recovering part of my eye movements but have blurred vision specially at short distance which really tires me up. Feel quite bad if I dont rest for a while and it really worryes me as i work in front of a computer so not able to go back to work. Kids already grown up and I am rather bored/depressed at home. Never been a housewife when kids where small and really still not willing to be one at 50
  19. LUISA

    Leon

Hi Leon Wellcome to BTG 20 years, thats sure a long time¡¡ it`s been 8 months for me and struggling, specially with depresion. You seem to have got on very well specially going back to work 3 months after your sha and with paralysis. Your experience will surely be of help to all of us
  20. Hello blueday only take tranquilisers (make me sleep a lot) I would need anti depressants but they made me very nervous and doctor said i would need to have them for a minimum of 1 year so no way¡¡
  21. hi prudence I read in your posts you eye was closed and ytou had double visison at the time of your sha. Mine was 8 months ago and I continue with blurred and double vision to the 3 extremes up/down and right. Has all your vision turned back to place, are you entirely recovered of that? how long did it take? I am rather desperate with that issue
  22. hi My doubt is how much does a gp know about sha/coiling/clipping etc? On my 1st control after coiling neurosurgeon said I could not horse ride, fly, dive...... when I asked about flying which was the only point I was worried about I ended up thinking she had no real clue. I asked why and if there was any record of anything having happened during a flight and and she said "NO" so I insist thre is still a whole world to discover for us. Sure as Jess says after surviving a bleed were not going to pass away because of a simple cough¿?¿ come on.........
  23. hi Lynz sounds like you have simple cold¡¡¡ Anyhow best see your gp to keep your mind at ease My bleed was 8 months ago and the main sympthom was an unbeareable headache but something you cant cope with¡¡¡
  24. hi Homer Wellcome to btg, I am also new to the site , abt 4 months and on to my 9th month post SHa. Best thing about this bunch is that if you have dobuts you can always find someone who has gone through it. We nearly all have in common that when leaving hospital we get no real information from our doctors as to how we may feel so most of the time we depend on others to clarify our dobuts. This is certainly the right place Hope to continue hearing from you
  25. wellcome Sally I also have vision problems and Im now 8 month post sha, mine was 3rd sept 2009 and coiled. Dont despair, originally my eyelid was shut/now its open I had front double vision, now that is gone. The extremes upper/downwards/rightest are still double but I can move my head ...........so...... upt just forgot have non reactive pupil so certain amount of blureed vision as well. Still early for us as according to doctors there are prisms /and even surgical possibilities so just wait and see. Anyhow tell us a bit more and perhaps we can be of more help
