  1. Hey Rob, Welcome to the site. I experienced the same thing with my GP, he had little to offer when answering my questions. Seek out a specialist for medical advice as our family doctors seem to have little experience in these areas. Best of luck to you and wishing you a speedy recovery.
  2. I was also told to drink plenty of water leaving the hospital. Unfortunately the day after I returned I was back in the ER with massive headache and thought I was having another SAH (not a fun Xmas morning) . Turns out it was a combination of dehydration and withdrawal from all the drugs I was given while in the ICU. The ER Doctors explained to me that the blood vessels restrict when you become dehydrated and decreases blood flow. This can bring on or increase the intensity of headaches. That's just what I was told. I don't have a problem drinking plenty of water throughout the day and always have a water bottle with me. Coconut water is also a great substitute for hydrating the body and filled with plenty of natural goodness. When I get bored with water I switch to that.
  3. Thank you everyone for the warm welcome and the advice it's greatly appreciated. The gym for me is like church so just being there is therapeutic. There's a great camaraderie amongst the guys I train with and I credit them for saving my life. Unfortunately boxing is over for me now but I hope to someday get back to training on some level. BABY STEPS... This site has been very helpful to me. As I read more stories and gather information I'm starting to feel more grounded and secure. When I first left the hospital I didn't really have much information. My Neuro Surgeon gave me the basics, there was no clipping or coiling done so there was nothing more he could do. I'll be seeing a Neurologist soon and have a nice long list of questions when we meet. Best to all
  4. Hello all, My real name is Chris but my nickname is Berger. I suffered a SAH on 12/17/14. My story doesn't seem so unique having read many others on this forum. I do find a strange comfort in reading the stories of those who understand, there are so many people who don't. I'm 48, an artist and very physically active,,, or at least I was. I train in a boxing gym 5-6 days a week and while finishing my workout a pain I've never experienced dropped me to my knees. I've explained it to others as a high speed drill boring straight into my head. Luckily my boys (friends) took notice and brought me to the ER where I passed out after vomiting. When I woke up I was told a CT scan had shown a bleed and I was off to a Neuro Hospital. An angiogram was performed but they could not locate where the bleed had originated. After 7 days in the ICU with tubes sticking out of me and enough morphine to drop a horse I was released. Christmas Eve to be exact, how's that for a Christmas present? I spent 2 weeks recovering in my families care and have just recently returned home. I live alone and am trying to assimilate back to a normal routine. I must have had an angel on my back as I don't believe my condition is as severe as many others on this site. The headaches, fatigue and short term memory loss can be a little overwhelming at times but seem to be a common thread while healing. I'm slowly getting back to sculpting and have recently started to exercise again. I'm very grateful to be alive and this experience has certainly given me a moment to pause and think about what's really important. Thankful for this site and wishing everyone a speedy recovery
