  2. Hi Linda You will get there and it isn't an overnight thing so try not to stress (I was told by my Surgeon) xx This is a good site to give vent to any worries although we do not give medical advice, It is good to share a worry. Keep well and smile when you can it keeps worry at bay Winb143 xx
  3. Do not remember anything Amanda until shunt was fitted and then I awoke from cuckooland. I was coiled had complications that knocked me for 6 and luckily I remember nothing !! Was a worrying time for Family but I was chasing my Mum who died in 1976 xx Glad I had support from my Family xxxx then I found BTG (well Daughter did) it helped her while I was ill and now it has helped me xx Be Well Win xx
  4. Amanda I get a lot of cramps but mainly in my feet but not spasms, apart from where my vein in my arm is shot from too many injections. But had that since 2009 since out of it and I was all tubed up as my Daughter puts it. Good luck and hope it goes xx All the best Win xxxxx
  5. Any worries Amanda come on here, this site helped my Daughter when I was out of it and has bought laughter to my face once again. Plus if you get sad you'll have to contend with all my Dads songs he taught me many moons ago. Remember we are survivors xxxx Good luck Win xxxx
  6. Welcome to BTG Amanda, Early days for you yet and you are already proving them wrong so keep it up xx I also was told I wouldn't walk but on good days 200 to 220 yards and on a sad day arghhh!! So I keep happy most days and even if it is a trip around garden . Welcome and hope you go from strength to strength Good luck Win xx
  7. Andrea, Got to agree with you Andrea, I was thinking of my life expectancy before I came on here in 2010. I came on here all worried and spoke to others who had bad times and could laugh and many the time I have come on here and left laughing. Love and thanks to All as you pulled me from a singing hypochondriac to as normal as I'll ever be ha ha xxxx still singing though xxxx
  8. Sorry Susan I cannot help but perhaps someone who has had TIA's /mini strokes can help. Wishing you all the best and lets hope they find out what is causing them x Loved your skin comment From an old wrinkly xxxx Good luck Win xxxx
  9. It is natural to worry Aandrea . Wishing you well and 1st is my Dads b/day xx I'll say a prayer for you nearer the time xxx But you will be okay xxxx scary I know xxxxx Love to you Win xxxxxxxx
  10. Hi Rosie, Had mine and all was okay, I was worried as while in Hospital I had Ventriculitis and followed by Sepsis, so I was asleep or in cuckooland for an age I remember nothing Good Really !! So shook my Surgeons hand and said thanks for saving my life, He asked my hubby if I have always spoke a lot ..Cheek it was nerves ha and told him when you are youngest of 10 you have to speak quick. to get a word in. Had the MRI and was more worried about waiting for results, but he signed me off saying in letter if I ever feel bad see Doc and make an appointment to see him. My words xx I wont tell you not to stress as it is natural Good luck and to Aandrea xxxx
  11. Sorry Jan, I went through mine around 42 and the hot flushes used to keep me awake. Many is the night I've come downstairs and gone to back garden and let the breeze blow through me. lol I used to take upstairs a glass Tankard with water and ice cubes, some to drink some to cool me down. (Flannel also lol) Many the night my Hubby covered me up when I was sweltering, He got called a few choice words. Well at least you know it will finish xx I went to my Doc and asked him "is it natural when in change if you said boo to me I'd cry" He never looked at me but wrote down a prescription for anti depressant's. Back I go next day with pills and say to Doc "Why have you given me these ? I wanted you to know how I feel sometimes not give me more drugs" He apologised and said "Okay I am listening" and he said it was natural and I was okay then lol xxx Good luck Jan xxxx Windows open wide and fan at bedside and put a coat on Partner ha ha xxxxxx Remember this will pass xxxx
  12. Hi Kay, Afraid not as I had mine coiled and remember hardly anything about it. Perhaps someone on here can tell you about clipping who has had it done Good luck Winb143 xx
  13. You just keep as happy as you can Pat, and this is a good place to give vent to your feelings We have all been through it so at least we know how we are feeling and a trouble shared is a trouble halved. Good luck and chin up and I'll keep my 2 up. I had 3 but been on a diet ha xx If you see a chubby old dear with a stupid grin on her face and singing songs say "Hi Win" ha ha xxxxx
  14. Hi Pat, I agree with Skippy as I am Win the singer of happy songs lol xx When I had my SAH/Bleed I was told "No Stress" now we all know life is filled with stress and worries, so I wondered how to alleviate that. I found singing my brothers songs stopped me getting too uptight, but that is me only and for others it may differ . I also found a smile helped as I read somewhere when you truly smile sadness stops ....so I'll try anything !! See Doc if really worried, as it is always best to see Doc as he/she can put mind at ease. Good luck Pat and welcome to BTG hope you feel better soon and maybe one day see you in Green room xx Win xxxxxxxxxxx (Who has had many strange heads since bleed)
  15. Good for you Julian, Glad you have kept in touch as it gives us hope that we can do it xx Never overdo it and keep in touch, and remember the smile xx Regards Win xxxx
  16. Hi Carly, It is natural to stress, but it isn't good for us xx I was so glad I remember nothing after having a shunt put in to stop hydrocephalus. As Clare and Tina have said, Let us know when you are having it done, and we will be waiting for you to tell us how you got on xxxxx Chin up if possible Best wishes Win xxxxx
  17. Mandie I awoke nearly a year after my coiling and my head itched like mad, fleas I thought lol. I rinsed my hair in warm salt water (I say I did but my Daughter did) as my Mum always swore by it and it seemed to help. I had coiling and shunt not a Craniotomy but it really itched bad and salt water seemed to clean around holes/dent and scars in head. Do not do it, but what do you have to lose besides some water and salt lol ... Good luck and hope head stops itching xx Got me scratching head xxx Love Win xx
  18. Hi Lynn, It is best that hubby see's a Doc as Super has stated. I had all weird feelings itchy head, bathed it in salt water xx If he see's Doc he/she can put his mind at ease as stress is bad for us and he will only worry xx Good luck to you both xx Win xxxx
  19. Hiya CJ, Hospitals do not understand the urgency and stress we go through. So I agree with what Super has put, see Doc and ask for results via him xx Hope all goes well and lets know how you get on Good luck Win xx
  20. Well done Weedra, Here's ( "chink" water lol) to many more xxxx Well done on results xx Love Win xxxxxx
  21. My Surgeon told me not to stress as it is bad for us but we all get it !! I handle it by singing happy songs as it helps me, but not hubby xx I do get bad days but the good outweigh the bad and I keep away from family who keep telling me there problems. I say "I cannot have sob stories Sis as I need happiness" Some Sisters understand this, some do not.. Surround yourself with times when you laughed until you cried tears of happiness xx Keep a smile at hand. Most of all look after you while getting better. Yes be Selfish if need be xx Smiling helps and other little methods to keep stress at bay. Good luck Win xxxxxxxx
  22. Hi Elaine, What others have already put, as I have a shunt in but before the shunt I was asleep and remember nothing. OT's were trying to make me do exercises and I just cried when they came near me as my hydrocephalus was bad !! When you get out of bed do everything slower than before bleed, I was told to sit up then wait, then swing legs out of bed and keep still. I do not feel as giddy when I do this, but when I jump out of bed I do go giddy still we have to take it slower after a bleed. Now you keep getting better and have more good days xxxx Love Win xxxx (I put jump out of bed but me and jump do not go ha ha) xxxx
  23. Make the most of good Days Mandie xx Lovely aren't they lol xx You have been through a lot and can come out of it knowing we are survivors ..Well Done You xxx I still draw matchstick style lol xxxx Palhuc, I think I told you, I was told I'd never walk again but I can walk 200 yards on a good day not long but it is getting better, and tell hubby to keep his chin up and you also xx I had an SAH4 and do not remember anything until shunt was in xx Pleased for you Mandie hope your days keep getting better and when they aren't sing happy songs xxxx my answer to all ills Be well Both Winb143 xxxx
  24. Yoyo Hi, My Daughter found this site and it helped her as she didn't like asking her Dad all the time ie "Dad will Mum get better". He'd say "of course but when" ? I came on here and was not alone anymore, there was others who laughed and joked about their bleeds etc. Made me feel like "Oh there is life after an SAH" It is hard for our loved ones and I cry or want to shout at hubby or Daughter, but it isn't their fault or ours this happened. It happened and I try not to stress and I sing instead. You will make it as you have survived xx Now take hubby out for a coffee weekend and keep your happiest face on if possible. Things do get better as time goes on ! We leave the hospital our short term memory shot, and we are told nothing about it and if I was told I'd forget it. Now wipe those tears away and try a smile instead when possible xx Good luck xxxx
  25. Jan, Weird isn't it how we know !!! I used to feel very heavy headed in early days but like everything we get used to living with it, she says hearing thunder in background arghhh xx Be well and thanks for the forecast ha xx Love Win xxxx
