  1. Hi Lin I have the Wii Fit Plus and am happy to say the "downward facing dog" isn't a problem find the "sun salutation" more difficult and can make my head a bit muzzy. As with any exercise just do what feels comfortable. Laura my balance is also rubbish and the wii board can make it worse but its fun trying even when the instructor states the obvious "your body is swaying" doh what does she expect
  2. As far as I'm aware I'm the only person in my family to suffer and SAH and there is no history of high blood pressure or heart disease either.
  3. Hi Linda Its great to hear that you're doing so well now it may have taken you a while but you got there in the end. Life post SAH is all about getting the work/life balance right its good that the company you work for understand your issues. Good luck for the future :-D

  10. Hi Rog Welcome to the site so glad that your wife is doing so well. My husband would be able to emphasise with your feelings completely even after over 4 years I think I still worry him sometimes. Your feelings are perfectly natural especially as the statistics can be very frightening you should discuss your feelings of anxiety with your G.P and counselling if you can get would be helpful. Look forward to hearing more from you.

    memory

Hi Di I think we all differ with what we remember I'm over 4 years on now and my memory is still fairly bad some things I can remember other things people will say remember this or that and I haven't got a clue what they're going on about. Memos and post its are a way of life now...... when I remember
  13. I also have the flu jab every year but mine is because I have C.O.P.D/Asthma nothing to do with SAH.
  14. Hi Zoe So glad Richards op went so well and great news about the adaptions being done.
  15. I returned to work after 7 months on a phased return after about 6 months had worked up 30 hours but it was too much for me so gradually reduced my hours to 20. Financially I'm out of pocket but I think I have my work/life balance just about right now.

    Win

Hi Win A warm welcome to you and well done on managing those steps good luck with your recovery.
  19. Hi Vivien I also still get pain in my eye socket but its good that your Doctors are taking it seriously and getting it checked out for you.
  20. Hi Karen Welcome to BTG and hope you find it as useful as I always have. Your confidence will return once the fear of it happening again lessens which it will. As the others have already said I'm sure you'll find that by reading some of the members stories it may help you put things into perspective. I'm sorry can't help with the wrapping but I can vaguely remember the subject coming up a few years ago.....will try a search and see if I can find the relevant post if its still on the site.
  21. Hi Angela I have suffered with constant nerve pain since my craniotomy 4 years ago and have tried several types of treatment including Gabapentin. Have now settled on Amitriptylene which at least numbs some of the pain for me. There are plenty of different tablets that your G.P can try you on as low doses of anti-epileptics and anti-depressants can work on nerve/neuralgia types of pain. Its just trial and error until you find the one that suits you best. Like yourself not really keen on taking tablets but it does make a difference and at least allows me lead as normal a life as possible most of the time. I have also been told that it maybe be permanent and my Nuerosurgeon thinks its a trapped nerve from the operation itself but its a small price to pay for still being here.
  22. Hi Bay Welcome to the site you will find lots of people who understand exactly how you're feeling at the moment. I know the others have already said it but is very early on in your recovery try to be kind to yourself and rest as often as you can also drinking plenty of fluids can help with the headaches. Wishing you well with your recovery and look forward to hearing more from you.
  23. Hi Jo I had my craniotomy 4 years ago and it will get better slowly with time. I do now always have to wear hats in Winter and on bad days can still get eye pain quite badly but mainly when I overdo things. I have been left with permanent nerve pain from a thought trapped nerve inside my head but the actual scar site is still numb and tingly at times. Thankfully the creaking has stopped I think that was probably the most scarey thing during my early recovery. As some of the others have said if you are at all worried speak to your Doctor or Neurosurgeon.
  24. Hi Stuart glad that you're starting to feel a bit better now. I'm not surprised that the dreaded fatigue is a problem but you sound remarkably positive considering the amount of obstacles you've had to face. Wishing you well with the rest of your recovery just remember to get plenty of rest.
