  1. Looks like I was a classic and asking for it! Almost one month now - 1) I'd had a strong very good coffee and cigarette then 2) On the bog but not straining and 3) Feeling really angry about someone. and BANG! I do love my mornings, but it is becoming a very scary daily ritual. I hope it gets better because I can't give up the coffee! Good luck to everyone else. Inez
  2. It's a great comfort to see such reassuring People with their stories on here. I'm sure I'm not the only one that's done something similar, but I've just looked in a bookshop window at a book about a cat and almost burst out crying! I hope that doesn't happen too often.
  3. I'm so sorry they failed you, but I feel I was unduly lucky. So many things could have gone wrong so I do feel you. I have contacted NHS Direct to pass on my gratitude to the Guy I spoke to and to make sure that ALL their Advisors respond in the same way as my one did. So I hope my messages got through. Stay strong. Inez
  4. On 13th Dec 2012 about 7.45am my pot of coffee was ready, so I went through the morning routine thinking about planning my small business with coffee in hand when BANG! My head pounded. I have never really suffered from bad headaches so I thought I was having my first migraine. I couldn’t understand why I was being so sick and the light was also killing my eyes so I then lay down for about 30 mins. Luckily I’ve got Sky tv and lying there I remembered an American medical show about hidden diagnosis I'd been watching and which made me think - 'I'd better just make sure this is just a migraine'. Not wanting to bother anyone, I phoned NHS Direct (I've always got the number on my phone 0845 46 47) where a nice Chap asked me a couple of questions, one of them being ‘is your neck stiff?’ I tried to move it but it hurt like hell! He then said 'I want you to hang up the phone an ambulance is on its way!' Blimey, all this hassle for a migraine. The ambulance arrived in less than 5 minutes! I got taken to Torbay Hospital by which time I was being really sick, I started getting scared when I'd jumped the queue for a scan and then a group of serious looking Doctors came up to me, one said 'don't be alarmed but you have a bleed on the brain and you’re being taken to Derriford Hospital for specialist treatment'. What a shock! I kept thinking if I’ve had a stroke why I am still moving and talking? There I was scanned again and told I have three aneurysms in my brain, one of which had ruptured resulting in a subarachnoid haemorrhage. At 8 the next morning I was coiled through my groin and I only spent 11 days on the ward and I was home for Christmas albeit a very very quiet Christmas. In the past I’ve had some dreadful experiences of being in hospitals when I was living in London, so I became terrified of them but to the full credit of all the staff involved here in Devon , from the NHS Advisor on the phone to the Paramedics to the Doctors and Nurses at Torbay and Derriford Hospitals, I was totally reassured. They have all been amazing and I feel extremely lucky that I am not dead or disabled. So now I am awaiting news on 'Sid and Nancy' my other troublesome aneurysms as to what treatment they'll need.
  5. Thank you for your warm welcome messages. It's very reassuring to know that others are going through this strange experience as well. Thanks again xx
  6. Hi all, On 13th Dec 2012, I was having what I thought was my first migraine. Within 2 hours I was told I have three brain aneurysms and one had burst causing a subarachnoid haemorrhage. I was back home for Christmas but I am still in a state of shock, so I'll be following everyone's stories with interest. Inez xx
