DawnS
I finally had the results of my 2 year scan today. All the letter says is that I've to go for another scan in 2016. I was expecting the complete lack of info...but I didn't realise we get a 5 year scan, I thought I'd be fully discharged now. Are there further checks or is 5 years the last of it? SarahLou
Hi Dawn, I was told that I would have MRI every 5 years as I'd had SAH when I was under 40 years of age. Take care, SarahLou Xx

MaryB
Do you guys ever get the written report of scans?
DawnS
Thanks for the replies, I wasn't actually 'told' anything - everything I know has been gleaned from BTG. I was 35 when I had sah so I wonder if I'll have regular checks then? Mary, I don't know about anyone else, but I've not had any kind of report, each letter has simply mentioned the next appointment date and you are left to assume that all is good. The radiographer did tell me that if something is wrong you will hear more quickly.
Louise
Mary No I've never had any reports from scans and stuff (wish I had would help me now with this benefit thing) We asked in the beging they said they'd send the scan pictures but nothing happened.. goldfish.girl
Hi Dawn I think each health board may be different. I was also under 40 when I had S.A.H. I had my 5 year scan last week & believe that if all is well I will be discharged by the Neuro surgeon. Michelle
Karen
From what I've seen on these message boards, follow up scans seem to depend on which hospital and the individual patient case and varies greatly ... there doesn't seem to be anything set as standard. xx
Winb143
I had my scan before I was discharged, then one 2 years after my op for shunt. I have not had or heard anymore and now my Doctor deals with it if I need any help. Just info for others. Love WinB143 xx
