Karen
Hi Laurie, Sorry to hear that you're still not getting the support you need.....is there anybody else that could have a word with Michael's Mum on your behalf? Personally, as a Mum myself, I can't understand why she can't leave her own personal feelings/phobias/anxieties behind for her son ... maybe I'm being hard, but if you weren't there for Michael, she would probably have to face up to the responsibility ..... I can understand your frustration with the situation.

Guest michael's girl
Thank u Louise, Karen and Sami, I know this will be the best thing for Michael, he was really bright and cheery yesterday it's great as rehab hospital is all on one floor and there are gardens in between wards which is really kool, i know Michael will like this. and there are alot of things there that are more homely and its a specific one for brain and spinal injurys. He was alot brighter yesterday. I have had the morning off also this morning. ty laurie x x
Karen
Hi Laurie, I'm sure that a more homely environment will lift Michael's spirit and he will view it as a step closer on the road to eventually going home. At least it's a rehab unit that specialises in brain and spinal injuries, so he should get all of the specialist help that he needs. Great news! Louise
I found it a lot better at the rehab hospital a lot of hard work, but you'll gradually notice the changes, everyone is so different in their recovery. Take care of yourself Louise.xx

Guest michael's girl
Today was another good day, Michael had another good day I expected him to be really sleepy but last night he slept really well and today had 2 lots of physco and more assesments. Becasue hes doing more in day he seems to be sleeping better at night. I know its early days!!! Hes also had his catheter removed and has what I think they call a convey, which they even let me put on which was kool I enjoy having more involvement, I also learned how to work the hoist to lift him in and out of the wheelchair with help, which is a bit of a problem as he's so long they r strugling to find a wheelchair big enough for his long frame as hes 6ft 2, and the one they have for him isnt big enough. They are also helping me sort out a social worker. We have ben made to feel so welcome by all the staff and they where even showing me how to help with his drugs which go in through his peg. They have also said I can visit when it suits me because of my childcare issues. Rehab is all so different but in a good way! We also had more movment in his arms which is really kool. I just hope hes slow and methodical about it all I would rather he goes at a slow steady pace then race ahead only to have set backs. I know hes in for alot of hard work, we both are and it will take time. But as sad and dispointed as we were b4 I feel this has come at the right time although a few weeks ago u couldnt tell me this, I now realize everthing in its own time. Can I say big thank u to u all for u love support and hugs and kind thoughts, I will be telling Michael more about u all agin tommorrow when I visit him. His mam is here now also and she visited him and seems alot better then she was b4, Well like my mam always said things come to those who wait...... love laurie x x x x x x x x xooooooooooo
Louise
I'm so pleased to hear things are goig good... Yes rehab isnt like the normal hospital Ronnie found it a lot better for me so if I was more at ease so was he, just like you...... Thats good his Mum has managed to visit Ronnie told me that my Dad found it really difficult to see me like that..... Sending positive thoughts Louise.xx
Karen
Hi Laurie, Glad that Michael's Mam is with you .... let's hope that she feels more comfortable with visiting him in rehab, rather than the hospital... Things seem to be looking up for Michael and yourself ..... stay positive and don't neglect yourself... Yes, getting a good night's sleep for most of us SAH'ers is key to having a half decent day ... it can be very up and down and the sleep pattern can change from day to day... I'm so pleased to hear your news....
Janet
Hi Laurie so glad that Mike is making steady improvements. It must be great knowing that you can visit when you want this week with his mum helping out at home. Take it easy and chat soon Janet xx
Blondie
Hey Laurie That is all excellent news! Good luck with everything, and I hope it's a bit easier having Michael's mum around. Hopefully she will find it less traumatic now, and can be involved more in the future. Take care, Blondie
Guest michael's girl
Well rehab is suiting Michael, he seems to be temporarily sleeping better as hes doing more through the day, physo 2 times a day and today he was in the chair for a number of hours. But I think we were both on a tired day. I am shattered and will keep u all informed of whats happening with his progress. love Laurie x x x x PS. I also had to have root filling or the first part of 2 part treatment so I am shattered, take care all. x x x x x x x
