hi everyone

sorry I haven't been around I've just been sent home to get some sleep lin was taken down to theatres at 11am yesterday and came onto the ward at 6-30 last night.

after all the drs hanging around and trying to listen to them about what they were going to do including the plastic surgeon doing his thing to fill and close the wound all came to nothing, lins own surgeon who was on annual leave came in to look after lin , I was shocked when I was told but boy was I happy for lin ,

he has taken the plate out as it was at risk he has asked for it to be remodelled slightly larger as the infection got to her own skull bone and to sterilise so he can reuse it late he has removed approx. 1/2 inch all round and debrided the wound and removed all the damage and affected tissue. and has closed it without skin grafts I was stunned and surprised over what he had done but also happy because lin gave me the most wonderful smile and intent gaze into my eyes lin was very alert when she came back I just sat there and cried and held her hands.

lin did have a couple of moans during the night but still settled I know when I kissed her before the op she cried herself lin knew what was going to happen and I did ask her not to leave me behind that's when her tears came.

I haven't got the nerve to tell her that they have taken all her hair off because the hair was covered in the exudate from the wound it was everywhere. lins had a quite day and restful so the staff will ring me should they need anything or lins gets unsettled

thank you all so very much for all your support it has helped both lin and me I cant thank you enough bless you all love to you all hugs and cuddles xx Paul and lin im off to bed god bless you all and thank you from the bottom of my heart and then some

Hi Paul :) such wonderful news that all went well :) How lovely to read that Lin gave you such a lovely smile and was very alert ! So happy Lin's Surgeon came in from his annual leave to look after her. You are both in my prayers and I wish for all things good to come your way....God knows you so both deserve this ! Rest up Paul.

Oh Paul, I can't begin to imagine how you've got through the past few days. What a super, caring surgeon you have there for Lin. It sounds like he has worked wonders on the wound. I love the fact that she gave you that wonderful smile after the op.

You must be exhausted Paul, so wishing you a peaceful and restful evening/night.

Sarah

my dearest friends

I've come home early today to have a shower and some rest before I go back in the morning. lin looks bright eyed today lin is still on antibiotics and will be for the next four weeks, the consultant will take lin down to theatres over the next day or so to place a main line in her neck so that they can release lin back to the home and the specialist nurse from the district can give lin her antibiotics via the main line.

we had a bit of a laugh this morning with the staff who came in to turn lin and to freshen her up I did warn them because they hadn't given lin her yakult they had better get the wellies on 45mins later they had finished turning lin and four changes of sheets and hospital gowns it really lightened my day up , sorry just my sense of humour I will let your mind conclude the intervening time frame as to what transpired.

I also told lin about her hair her eyes went so wide with I think shock it was comical but I did calm her down by saying that she can have it coloured when it grows back but its the look she gave sorry its my humour again.

I have lodged a strong complaint against the dr who saw lin 8 days ago and its being taken to the top without hesitation so I will wait and see what the outcome will be.

may I repeat myself bless you all for caring about lin from the bottom of my heart thank you so very much god bless and be safe xx paul

so great to keep hearing good news!! you'd better tell the staff to get waders next time!!!

you can tell lin our daughter shaved her hair in solidarity with his dad when he had his bleed and now she's got the most beautiful pixie-style hair which she dyes a different colour each week, so lin will be very fashionable while it grows out!

hi everyone

I have just taken lin back to the home as the surgeon has released her and lin will take some antibiotics for the next month.

this op has taken a great deal out of lin in the car lin looked out the windows for a while then fell asleep the staff at the home were a little upset that lin had lost her hair but it is growing back now I think the staff are going to have fun finding the sutures on Friday and Saturday when they start removing them as lins hair is just that long to hide them anyway I will close for now good night and god bless xx

Hey Paul,

I just read all of your story and this has given me a lot of hope for my brother. I have been sharing all the stories I read on here with my other family members as they are struggling to cope and I would like to share the positivity I gain from being on here.

Wishing you and Lin well

Michael
