  1. Hi Joanne,

Welcome to this wonderful site. I was like you, being the one to watch someone you love very much suffer a SAH. My husband Jim suffered a sah in December 2007. He did not need to be coiled as he did not suffer an anyuersum.

It was very hard seeing him early on and my heart and prayers are with you all. Jim also did not remember much at all and still to this day there is a lot he does not remember about being in the hospital. Jim did talk some but not much. I think he was just too tired and really needed to rest. People do recover differently. It is good that your Dad has his motor skills. He has been through alot and as Janet stated I do also believe the brain makes the mind slower because it really does need time to heal. And yes, your Dad is and will be tired for sometime.

Please let us know if there are any questions you need to ask. The many people on this site have been a God send to Jim and I. They are truly a lifeline.

Take care and please try to take care of yourself also. I know how hard that can be.

  2. Hi,

Hope everyone is well. Jim was wondering if anyone is on blood thinning medication. He had asked his GP about it but was told that if he did indeed suffer another SAH that it would be dangerous for him.

We are sure he will not have another one. He said he gets pressure in his head and was thinking if he had the medicine that it might relieve some of the pressure.

Thanks and have a great day!

  3. Jim just seems to have lost any interest at all. :( It is not that he does not want to it is that he does not feel anything.

His doctor checked his testotorane which he has had problems with before his SAH but his levels have never been better.

It has been 7 months so we are hoping things will get better.

    As always,

    Thanks!

  4. Hi,

Hope everyone is well. Just wanted to know if anyone has experienced this. We went into Boston on Saturday with our grandchildren. We did a lot more walking than Jim has been doing and also took the train instead of taking the car. I think Jim over did it and when we were coming home he got very weak and he said he felt like he was going to go down.

It also had happened once before when in was in a store.

As always, thanks for your responses.

  5. Hi Anne,

Jim does still have the ocassional twitches. Some nights much more than others. What Linda stated could very well be the cause. Jim also was once very active and since he suffered his SAH his legs tire very easily. He is however making a slow but steady progress as long as he does not over due it.

    Stay well.

  6. Hi Donna,

It happened to Jim a couple of times. I think he was very tired and had done too much the day before. It is best if you let yourself sit on the edge of the bed and try to stretch a little before getting up. This seems to work for Jim.

    Take care.

  7. Hi Donna,

Jim is 6 months since his SAH and he still has weak legs. This is one of the things that has bothered him the most.

Were you in bed for a period of time after your SAH? The PT told Jim it was because he was so immobile for a period of time. He is better now but if he does too much or if he sits for periods of time he becomes very stiff.

You are still early in your recovery.

    We wish you well!

  8. Hi,

Hope everyone is well. Just wondering what the follow up is for a person with a non-anyuerism SAH is.

Jim had 2 angiograms, the first one the day he suffered his SAH and the second one 6 days later (both showed no anyuerism) and one cat scan at 4 weeks after his inital SAH because of headaches but nothing since and no appts have been made. Almost like they said you are done but without actually saying so.

  9. Hi Donna,

I am not sure since I am not a doctor but I think that your anxiety might be a part of your fear. I know early on it was for Jim.

Jim did overdue things and that is why he was dizzy. He has been okay since last week. Also, for Jim it is 6 months tomorrow since he suffered his SAH. You are only a month since your SAH. It is still very early for you. It does take time and that is why this site with it's many questions, answers and caring people will help you so much as it has for Jim and I. :)

    Take care,

  10. Hi,

Jim stayed home today after once again feeling dizzy this morning. He did some serious work at my Brother's house this past week-end and I think he over did it.

He did stay on the couch most of the day and is taking it very easy. He said he feels light headed. I suppose you are the only one that knows your body and when it comes to the time that you need to stop you will. I am glad that he is finally realizing that.

  11. I totally agree about having the ability to laugh. Jim often asks me if I am the one that suffered brain damage instead of him when I do something silly.

We have a bush in the yard that is called a Rose of Sharon. He stated to me the other day "The Rosa Mary looks great! We both laughed so hard because last year he knew the exact name and now once again does.

We laugh often and love much, not so much physically but with our hearts, it is truly a good thing. And Karen, I agree completly about Keith's humor. Love it!

    Stay well.
