  1. Hi alan,

Your words about it being a lot to take in...wow...those are true words.  It takes time, be gentle with yourself.  I second what Sami said about being able to look for support so fast.  I was all in my own head and it took me a while to begin reaching out.

I have found this site to be very helpful to me.  Just talking to people who understand what it is all about makes such a difference.

    xx

  2. Hi Tanja,

I too had terrible pain at the bottom of my spine and was told it was residual blood ...  It was very painful, I couldn't rest my bottom on the bed without pain. The neuro team at the hospital told me about it and told me it would happen but it didn't happen until I was in rehab and they seemed a bit skeptical about it.  I was glad my neuro team had prepared me and it came and went in a week or so as they said.

I hope this pain passes for him soon. This is all a lot for him and you to go through.  I know it is scary and things don't seem to get better as quickly as we would like.

  3. Hi Sara,

Reading this has reminded me (yet again) to go easy on myself.

This is a journey Sara, a mending brain is unlike anything else, I believe.

I blame a lot of my fatigue on my age.  I have come to realize during my post SAH journey (4 and half years) that I just have to pace everything out to make sure I am not bumping into walls at the end of the day.

It has certainly gotten a bit easier for me to do and my family now hears me when I say I need to stop for a bit or I need to sit for a while...When I need it I try (not always perfect) to make it happen for myself.

Sounds like you are making good progress Sara and I am glad you found BTG, so many wonderful people here willing to share.  You regained your ability to walk, speak, write, drive return to work...your brain is awesome :)

    Thoughts are with you,

    Jean

  4. Louise, congratulation on 22 years..as I read what you wrote I am so inspired ... you say it gave you strength you didn't know you had, such wisdom in your words.  I came here 4 and a half years ago, searching for someone, someplace that I could share what happened to me with.  I had no idea I was going to meet people such as you who not only shared but cared and don't judge.  Stay well and thank you :)

  5. Hello and welcome to BTG,

I too had hearing loss in one ear, it did clear up with time  (perhaps a few months) and I feel like my hearing is fine now but i am left with tinnitis.   I also had the spinal pain, it is so uncomfortable....I was told both were due to blood disipating , truth I never have asked about the tinnitis, it doesn't bother me too much...I did not experience numbness but everyone is different for sure with these bleeds.

This is a great site, first off because you realize you are not alone and talking to others who have similar experiences is so helpful.

Be patient and kind to yourself, this is different from other illness.  Our brains heal slowly.

    take care

  7. Hi Tina,

Thanks so much for the good wishes...I didn't wake up feeling great, had a tough night but after about the 24 hour mark I began to feel more like myself.  My balance feels back to normal .  I have never had this happen to me before so I was not expecting it.

This is a surveillance test I have every 5 years or so because of a family history of colon cancer.  I have never had any concern about having it.  I guess everything changes.

    again thanks Tina.

  8. Hi All,

I had my SAH 4 years ago but for the first time since had a medical procedure that included being put to sleep with propafol (spelling may be wrong)...I tolerated it all well woke up quickly but have been wobbly (more than my usual swishy (feel like I am walking on a boat) self.  It was noticed by the medical staff and my usual swish is not.

As I said my first time having any type of anesthesia since my event...Is it typical to take a bit of time to get back to my old self.  This was early this morning it is evening now so hoping to wake up tomorrow good as new and wiser the next time.

    thanks

  10. Hi Sue,

I too welcome you.  So very sorry to read about your accident.  This is such a wonderful supportive group.

It is so difficult waiting for our bodies to recover.  As Tina said "be kind to yourself"...

I wish you well as you recover and also well wishes to your husband, you both have through a lot.
