  1. hi all, hubby had sah 2009 no known cause and life has sailed on with ups and downs, as everyone feels the dread of another sah and its never far from your mind. yesterday hubby rang me to say he has got a stiff neck and then a blinding headache, not the thunder clap as in 2009. went to a/e had a ct scan which showed no bleed but hopefully they will be doing a lumbar puncture today to rule out a small bleed. i am trying to stay positive as the headaches were intermittent and the stiff neck would ease off. i don't know whether the stiff neck eases of or not. spoke to him last night and he did not feel any worst and felt he could go home but knows he needs the l/p for peace of mind.. as anyone else gone through this. diane:sad:
  2. Hi All, My hubby had his SAH 2009, we have been married 17yrs this year and he does not remember much about our previous life together (very heart breaking) we have a 14yr old daughter who knows as Georgina, does not remember much about her toddler yrs but he can remember stuff before i came on the scene. As for his stay in hospital i was there every day washing him for 3wks and he does not remember, other stuff has gone on in our life since the SAH so without insulting anyone i wonder if it is selective memory loss to get him out of a tricky situation. Life goes on, he is in the gym a lot keeping fit, in the very place that his head went pop (that's how we refer to it). We have good times but also some down times and that is when i leave him to it and not pamper him.
  3. I thought i would let you all know, my hubby Mark had his NSAH 2yrs ago 4/11/09, he is doing well does not get headaches as much now and has been back to work for along time now. Temper issues have calmed down a bit and the memory is improving slightly. DI:-D
  4. yes his was a NASAH and the docs did say to take it steady but he is doing ok. Mark has had an mri which has ruled out the smallest aneurysm so he is discharged from the hospital now. i do still get a bit worried but cannot do any more than i am doing. Di xx
  5. Hi all, have not been on for some time as life is busy. Mark as you will know had his NSAH in 2009 and i can say at the moment he is quite relaxed and calm.. He has gone back to getting fit again and doing the weights which he was doing when his head went pop. (that is how we refer to it). To cut out on his headaches he is not drinking as much caffeine. Anyway i have a couple of questions. Is Mark able to have a massage? Also he went to give blood last year but they said he will not be able to donate any blood anymore due to his NSAH. Does anyone know why? Hope all are well Di. x:-D
  6. My hubby had his NASAH Nov 09, he went back to work roughly 6 months after it happened and after having a final MRI scan they have gave him the all clear and discharged him from clinic. Mark is now back in the gym, on the tread mill, cross trainer bike and doing weights. This was hard for him as his NASAH happened while he was lifting weights. Mark still gets headaches so i do tell him to try not to worry, it may because he had pushed himself too much or the change of weather. Take each day as it comes and there are great people on this site who will help, who better than people who have experienced it themselves. Dixx
  7. I cannot remember whether i have posted this before, lol. How bad can someones memory be? My hubby had his NASAH 09 and his memory i just don't know what to say. He went to London March 10 then he went again Nov 10 but could not remember going in March and the photos he took he vaguely remembers. He cannot recall films he has been to see it is so so hard. dix:confused5:
  8. Marks MRI and MRA are normal so he has been discharged from clinic his appointment in march has been cancelled due to the normal scans. dixx
  9. Mark my hubby had his NSAH 09, he has been having dreams mainly of him fighting then when he gets up to go to work he is tired due to his dreams. dixx
  10. Hi Sandi, Mark saw the Doctor who said the temple headache could be down to stress and is he stressed about anything. His head was really bad last Monday but it has eased of where he has a few aches. i am going to start recording how often and see if there is a pattern to it. I know when it is cold he has to wear a hat and avoid cutting his hair. Mark is having an mri and a mra this friday coming to totally rule out a small anni which this will give give him more piece of mind. Mark is 14 months down the line i just try not to worry too much but it is very hard as it was an awful experience for you all and our famillies. Di xx
  11. my hubby is 14 months down the line from his SAH and yesterday afternoon he got a head pain around his temples like something wants to be pushed out and for the first time yesterday he wondered whether is could be sinus problems. could not get him into the doctors today as they are fully booked so the other alternative is a/e which he does not want to go as he don't want to be a fraud plus he said it does not feel anything like when his head did go pop. the pain is still there, he does not get them that often but sat ans sun he did go in the gym and did a work out so wether this is the after effects. will keep you informed he is sleeping at the moment. it is such a worrying time. di x
  12. Hi all. Laura would still love to meet up and have a good chat. Mark was treated at walsgrave Mark is going to have an mri and a mra at the end of january so we will get more of a picture then his next appt is march. di xx
  13. First of all Happy New Year to everyone. Hubby had his appointment early December with the consultant. I got them to explain to Mark what had actually happened instead of "your scans are clear". He had a substantive bleed which they were 100% sure Mark had, had an aneurysm that's why they did so many test, they are not sure whether Mark had a small aneurysm which sealed itself but the are going to give him an MRI to totally rule it out. Mark asked about his headaches, memory and temper and they just said this is normal your alive get used to it. Mark has calmed down a bit but still a long way to go. Diane
  14. My hubby had his a year ago but luckily for him it was not due to an aneurysm but times are hard and i have the rages over anything he might hear on the tv let alone anything i might have said. my hubby is back on anti depressant as he knows he is getting out of hand. we are seeing a consultant next month so hopefully get some answers. listen to what everyone says on here and look after yourself. it is a long road ahead. take care dix
  15. i have managed to get hubby an appointment with the GP this evening. for all those who have suffered an SAH can you have post traumatic shock from it? my hubby has not spoke to anyone about what has happened to him. Dix
  16. As you all will know my hubby had his SAH one year ago now and on the whole things are ok but i am at my wits end. His temper and swearing is getting me down, this mainly happens when he does DIY and everything goes wrong which then makes his temper and swearing worst. I have cried and cried and basically don't know how much more i can take. i have to think about mine and my daughters sanity. Does this sound selfish? I love him dearly but my god it feels like i am being dragged through hell. I know that sounds harsh but it is how i am feeling at the mo. Sorry if i sound selfish and uncaring. Di.x
  17. my hubby mark is coming up to a year of his SAH, this was a venous bleed. what he is experiencing now is having a dream and having the smack around the back of the head (as you all have experienced when your SAH happened). this wakes him up and his neck is stiff and he has a funny sensation running at the back of his head. he is worried so he wants to know can an SAH happen in your sleep. hope to here from you diane.
  18. Hi All, I have not been on here for quite awhile so here i am seeking some advice. Hubby Mark had his SAH last November and all is going well except for his memory. It will be easier for me to list the problems i am facing. 1. He cannot remember our wedding which was 15yrs ago. 2. He does not remember much of our marriage. 3. I am like a stranger to him. 4. Does not remember much about our daughter. Cannot remember things that were a couple of days ago. The list is endless and it is quite upsetting that i am a stranger and to me it is what is the point being here. Hope to hear from you soon.xx
  19. as you all know that mark had his SAH in nov and it is still early days and his headaches are much better now. i am really struggling with the change in him such as cuddles etc. he is not bothered with such things. he does not talk about what has happened and i feel he needs some counselling but there is no way i can approach the subject. to say this is putting a strain on our relationship is an understatement. it is tearing me apart. what do i do? i don't want to keep asking if he is alright. do i need to adapt to him. thank you
  20. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the ok to start driving again. dvla has written to Mark's consultant about a week ago. thank you dianexx
  21. mark came home today, angiogram was fine, he has to stop taking the medication and stick to paracetamol and tolerate the headaches for awhile. thank you all for listening this is such a great site where everyone understands. love to all diane xxx
  22. thank you all for listening, it is good to know that everything that mark is experiencing seems to be part of the condition. i am worried about his angiogram tomorrow but have to take it in my stride. dianex
  23. mark in walsgrave and is feeling fine and a bit of a fraud but when started to complain of feeling sick i then thought this is not right. take care all Diane xxx
  24. mark (hubby) had his SAH last november all ct scans and 2 angiograms ruled out an aneurysm but since nov he has still had the headache. we saw the consultant last thurs who said the headaches could last up to 6 months to a year however he booked hubby in for an urgent ct scan. yesterday he had a headache that made him lie down for a few hours so i decided to call an ambulance and have him looked at. he had a spaced out feeling whether it is due to new medication for his headaches (called meptazinol) the consultant had not heard of them. while in a/e they did a ct scan and one with contrast and it has come back fine so we were looking forward to coming home but the neuros had different ideas. they want him in hospital to do another angiogram on monday ( hubby not happy as he still in discomfort from the last one). they said because his sah was severe in november they want to check everything even though his scans were ok yesterday. i am trying to stay calm but just wondering what if an aneurysm is hiding. if everything is ok he will be home on tuesday. thank you for listening. diane.x
