  1. hi Di, ´wellcome to the site most of us apart from the sha also had aneurysm (will never be able to spell this word popperly) coilling/craniotomy and side effects etc. Glad to hear you are recovering well but anyhow you will find all of us will recomend you take it easy and let your brain tell you when to stop all the best
  2. hello Blueday In respect to hereditary SHA just fyg my grandmother/aunt and cousin from mothers side all died from sha eventhough doctors still insist they find no relation??????
  3. wellcome Blueday each one of us has different problems , my bleed/coiling is still rather recent but i have like Karen III nerve palsy which means double vision when looking to the extremes but even close blurred vision. This is even agravated by the fact that I have always been very shortsighted and my work is in front of a computer screen¡¡ Anyhow if you have read or when you read the stories on this site you will at least learn improvement is possible years after the bleed so hope is the last thing to loose. I very much recomend you visit a psicologist (sorry for spelling) if you havent done so yet. And careful with your walks if you value your toes¡¡¡
  4. hi Caroline I will be 50 tomorrow and going on my 8th month since sha/coiling, at this stage continue suffering a deep depression and not able to make decisions (not even wrong ones). I used to cope with more than 10 hrs daily work plus running a house. Right now just cooking seems to be a challange. My side effect apart for the typical faigue is a III NERVE PALSY I realise if I look back at the date i was discharged from hospital with no vision on my right eye (well double vision means no vision) and closed eyelid i have really made a big improvement but not 100% I am still on sick leave and really dread going back to work as I very much doubt I will be able to keep the pace and find I am rather young to retire. By the way also going to be a grandmother in November¡¡¡ Knowing others are more or less in your shoes guess doesnt make you feel better but at least you can identify your fustrations Keep us posted, Im new to the site and must admit it helps to put down your feelings, they wont get better but at least you take them off your shoulders and its like writing them down in paper
  5. thks to all I still have plenty of time to continue recovering as baby isdue in November its just that I feel Im not as happy as i should be but at the same time I´ve never been a grandmother before so not much experience. Under normal circumstances I would be knitting away and looking round for all sorts of baby stuff but I simply dont have the energy. Perhaps by the time i see him/her my feelings will have changed and I can give her the support she needs in the meantime. Jay Kay its really too early on your recovery, pls take care. I waited in hospital with my mum since 2 oclock in the morning till about 10 the next days 3 monght after my sha and it took me 3 days to recover . I really hope your daughters father makes it at least this time or perhaps a friend. Losts of hugs to you as well
  6. good evening I know there are a lot of you who are already experienced grandmothers so I would like to seek some advice. I am still recovering, must admit very slowly, from my sha/coiling 7 months ago. I continue rather depressed and therefore the news has not come in a very good moment for me. I really dont feel as happy as I should ?? Fear I may not be able to cope with a noisy baby (still drag tiredness) and help my daughter as she needs. Can you pls bring some light into this? thks in advance:confused::confused:
  7. hello john I remember absolutely everything which happened after my SHA and coiling and it really does not make me feel any better than what you express. I recall vividly the moment I felt something like a creak in my neck/head when I bent down in the shower. I recall going to hospital the next morning as a just couldnt stant the pain. I recall being told I had a stiff neck and being medicated, well in fact the stiffness did disapear the problem was that the strong headache kept on and on. I remember going to the doctor after a week and being recomended to go to therapy , when it got to the 4th session my right eye was closed and with double vision, the therapist said to immy go to hospital as this for sure was not "normal". Forgot to mention that at some stage i felt a pain on my head just as if a knife had gone right through my skull. It took me 2 weeks to get the right diagnosis and fianally get a CT done and the rest is the normal coiling procedure. The 6 days I spent at the ICU "conscious" where simply horrendous. 7 months later I still struggle with side effects (my right eye suffers from PALSY). I dont really think knowing the exact facts will make you feel any better so suggest you dont worry too much about it. I would simply concentrate on keeping on with your tremendous reco very after such an experience and perhaps seeking some councelling to close some of the open psicological wounds, at least that is what i`ve done. I also find that unless you talk to people who have gone through "this" its difficult to understand how we feel
  8. hello to all Last monday went to my doctor for my 1st control after sha suprisingly enough she told me I shouldnt fly, gave no specific reason and even when asked if she knew of anyone having problems with this the answer was negative:confused: Think many of you have flown after the bleed so would appreciate your comments, by the way she said horse riding and diving also not allowed ¡¡¡ never mentioned anything about driving eventhough i still have double vision¡¡¡
  9. Hello Missy just 1 week before i finished with Nimopidine i also felt unable to eat anything for 2 days and continuous nausea (My husband drove to the dr with a bucket and towell in the car) apparently too many pills (2 every 4 hours) for too long without any stomach protector. No major issue Dr gave me some pills to take 15 minutes before each meal and problem solved About the lighthead that took a lot more to go away, my sha was beg sept and i can say the lighthead went await in jan. Perhaps in my case it took longer as i have a III nerve palsy on my right eye Hope to have been of help

  11. hi Caroline and wellcome to BTG you are really lucky if you have no side effects ( I know, lucky would have been not having the SHA) I am a rather new member as well, my Sha was 6 months ago and still like John having double vision problems. Even if you look perfect form the outside the "inside" takes time to heal, as they all recomend lots of rest ¡¡ take it easy you are your best friend
  12. Hi Godfrey 3 I stopped smoking 6 months ago, the same day of my sha and still now i feel like having a cigarette so I really dont consider having given up smoking¡¡¡ Going though a Sha or any life threatening illness is really difficult, perhaps right now this is an scape for your husband, I think that if I smoked I would not be so drepresseed ¡¡ I dont see any details of his recovery/2nd effects etc but recomend you try to talk to him as much as possible, dont press too much. He is also very aware smoking does him no good but perhaps right now its the only thing which takes off the pressure Sorry cant be of much more help, wish you both the best

  16. Welcome Aakki, sorry cant help on info about SAH without the aneurysm but what I can quote are the words of my doctor when i ask about the likelyhood of having a repeat of the aneurysm Unlikely, form now on you will be controlled on the other hand there are thousands of people out the with one and they dont know¡¡¡ Wish you the best in your recovery but dont run too much¡¡¡ take it easy for a while as you know time heals it all
  17. Hello Sarah are or rather were you shortshighted? My Sha caused problems in my right eye (i have always been quite short sighted anyhow) after 6 months y stsill have problems with non reactive pupil (have to use sun glassess as daylight is simply too bright) front vision is ok but moving eye upwards and downwards means double vision. Any of this sounds familiar to you. I dont see any AURA but non reactive pupil also makes vision blurr
  18. Thks to all for the quick response, it really does help a lot¡¡ It took me some time to find this link but now be sure I will do a lot of talking even if my english may be a bit rusty¡¡ Been to the psycho almost every week during the last 2 months, not getting worse with depresion but not getting better either¡¡ Find lost interest in life, not feeling in the mood for anything. Its like if I was empty inside and also lost confidence. 1st control beg march and perhaps fit for work but will I be a able to cope? Will I still want to keep fighting? Right now a drop of water seems to be like an ocean?? Have any of you felt like this?
  19. Hello to all Firstly apologies for any typing mistakes or simply wrong spelling. I lived in the uk more than 30 years ago and my english is rather rusty at this take I had a my sha back in september 2009 but still trying to recover. I coped with awful headache pains for 15 days, original diagnosis in hospital was stiff neck but after 2 weeks of treatment and when I started seeing double through my right eye and couldnt open it doctors looked a bit more thoroughly and changed their diagnosis. in fact I went into hospital on the 3rd and coiling on the 5th. 6 days in ICU anad 6 more in normal room and sent home. After nearly 6 months a lot of things have gradually improved. I can now open my eye and looking in front i no longer see double. Cant look upwards or downwards and vision is rather blur but at least I can see. Depresion is the worst to cope with. Have to draf myself out of bed eventhouh being medicated. Well enough for the 1st message, I would very much appreciate any comments on the possible recovery of my eye from any of you would have suffered the same 2nd effects
