Hello Sammy
Also welcome to BTG
Just take time to look around the site for topics relevant to you and you will find so much help.
My wife had her SAH nearly four years ago- and this site will be a great help to your own immediate family too.
Keep looking after yourself and take care and patience to grow stronger and build up your new life-
Best wishes in your recovery

Hi Mandy-
My wife managed to get a much larger PC screen for her work desk-and this really helped `til her vision recovered.
Also I insured that she had plenty rest when she came home from work-and plenty sleep too.
We are all interested as you progress your return to work-and your updates will be most helpful for others-
Thanks

Hi Mandy
Thanks for sharing your work rota details-
The desire to get back to work and normality is common for everyone who has a health set-back and it is good to see that your return is phased.
You will be the first one to know how it is working and you must listen carefully to what your body is telling you. The difficulty is knowing when to stand back and take stock if you begin to struggle. It`s difficult to accept this when you have in your mind a race against an employer who may place financial timescales on your return. Don`t risk your long term health and recovery to satisfy the Powers that Be!
Don`t step on to the next increased hours phase if you reach a point where you know you should stick for a while! Not easy to do.
Has your OH fixed an interim appointment to review your progress- earlier rather than later in your 9 week phased return?
Whatever you do-take care and best wishes as you get back to work-

Hi Teechur
How are you?
I read your sincere heart searching post a few days ago and the most helpful support you received from your BTG friends- and I have been thinking about you since then-
As a carer I can`t make informed comments about how you should deal with the fall-out from your SAH- but I do know that with the active life you have lived-you have put yourself through the pain barrier in your exercises many times- You are not someone who will give in.
Are you doing anything special for your big day next week? Whatever you do-enjoy

Hi Michelle
Accepting that time is a great healer can be so challenging when there is no timescale to live by and no guarantees-
but as many of the friends on BTG say-living with where you are now and looking positively to the future whatever twists it takes-
is a great approach to adopt.
By the way-as a Carer for four years myself- please remember to give your valued partner Verdun a big hug every so often and tell him how much you appreciate his support for you through your challenging uncertain time
Caravan holiday soon- such a relaxing way to take time out-
Take care

Hi Mandy
It`s good to see you are going back on a phased return- please please tread carefully and don`t spoil your chances of recovery by forcing your body to get back to normal working duties too soon.
Having been there with my wife`s SAH- how is your partner coping 3 months on?
-
Thanks Mandy and Tina
Your support means a lot.
Keep strong both of you

I sit here tonight with a bit of emotion.
Those of you who have followed our journey on this thread will remember how it is 3 years 11 months since my wife was admitted to hospital and her health had caved in!
Three and a half years on with the help of my `On Line` friend Winnie I found this site at a time when the stresses of being a Carer and coping with the tensions of my wife`s recovery were taking its toll- and although she had made a great recovery-I was somehow clouded by thinking of a future so different to the life we once knew.
You will recall that I was also finding it hard to deal with her confrontational attitude so different to the wife I had known.
Our journey has shown how important it is to give time a chance in the healing process-and have patience in every aspect of our lives.
Tonight as we sat eating our meal in front of the six o`clock news (after my wife had finished her second full day at work) she turned to me and said----`I feel I am able to control my feelings a lot better now and I don`t rush to make comments I might regret` And this is indeed the case. In the past few weeks I have seen a big change in here self control.
It`s early days yet but you` guys and dolls` out there have been so supportive since Winnie pointed me in the direction of BTG and I just wanted to let you know that just as you all say- it`s a long journey and everyone is different-but time does heal
My message is whatever distance you are along your journey- continue to have faith in the future and feed from the people on this site who share their valuable experiences.
In addition to her SA , I am pleased to tell you that she is also at a milestone with her other illness-the Wegeners- and next week her steroid dosage is reducing to 1mg for six weeks and if no adverse reaction she will be steroid free! But we hold our breath on this one.
She had a slight INR spike with her Warfarin three weeks ago but this also is stabilizing and a test on Friday will tell us if this is the case.
So never give up all of you out there and keep supporting each other!

Hi Daffodil
Listened to the programme this morning and looking forward to the topic of recovery next time- thanks for highlighting it.
I am a fan of Andrew Marr`s Sunday Show - he has chosen to return to the stressful world of politics despite his stroke episode.
Take care-

Thinking of you and wishing you good progress

Just a little info re my post of 15th January when I mentioned that my wife had no SAH follow-up scans since her discharge from hospital over 3 and 1/2 years ago. She has been told that a MRI scan is being scheduled asap.
She is still doing her two days a week AND wait for it- going back for a third day this week to help with the back-log,!! Yes Carolyn I`m pulling my hair out!!! What are you women like!!
Not looking forward to the next three months election campaign Louise!!! Think I will lock myself in the garage!

Hi Carolyn-
Just to let you know that we are thinking about you and praying for you as you face more uncertainty.
The first year after your SAH is a great emotional and physical struggle and strain on you and those close to you -- and now you have much more to think about.
It sounds as if you are in good hands with your neurosurgeon and you already have great trust in him.
Take the time you need and advice you can get from those around you as you come to terms with any decision you eventually make.
Good to have your extended BTG family around too.!
Sincere best wishes to you and your family

Hello Sharon
So glad you are back home recovering from your SAH- as Macca says- be prepared to give yourself time to heal and listen to your body.
You will definitely get much help on this site as you find other with similar circumstances to yourself.
You will be missing using your car-The DVLC will judge each application to resume driving on its own merits. For example- if you are left experiencing vision restrictions- or seizures- When you feel you are ready-a letter from your consultant to the DVLC explaining this will let the DVLC decide whether to let you back behind the wheel-or whether they need more info from your consultant. If your consultant who knows your situation is positive about you returning to driving-this should sway the DVLC to respond accordingly-
Keep strong and positive-

I`ve found it interesting to note that many SAH members on this Forum had their coiling done often on the day after their SAH. . My wife had her coiling done almost three and a half weeks after-

Hello Winnie
Great to hear from you.
Yes I have learned so much from the varied experiences expressed on this site.
Very cold up here in Scotland.
If I find myself in the English Riviera near you I promise to bring along a Haggis
Take care and thanks for all your positive vibes
Keep singing!

Did you get insurance for travelling?

Hello Elizabeth
You have been receiving much good advice from the members here-
A simple comment I would make as a Carer like yourself -and my wife also has made a great recovery and is still working albeit two days a week now-but still at her busy pressured former job.
Your journey is going to challenge the extent of your love for your `better half`! Many times in the future you are going to question how much you can take as you adapt to your `imposed` carer`s role. Love is in many ways shown by how much we are prepared to give- and you are going on a journey which may stretch your giving to your limits.
Keep strong- he needs your love and care even if it does not look like it-

Thanks Louise-
We enjoyed our Burns Lunch today- Sixty four people attended and the entertainment was very good. A piper, Violinist, Doric Poetry reader and some Scottish community singing- Great fun and the Haggis was good too-
Take care and wishing you and your family well-

Well that was Mrs Sub`s MRI done on Saturday morning-
First week in on the reduced steroid- 1mg Prednisolone- 5 weeks to go-no withdrawal effects so far.
INR spiked to 4.4 five weeks ago then dipped to 1.5 - then 1.6 then 1.7 last week-
sometimes it can be a slow process to get to the 2.00 target level-
hiccup probably caused by the steroid reduction.
The joys of Warfarin dependency!
Quarterly check-up with consultant 14th April
Thoughts are with all you guys/dolls who live with daily meds and pain.
