Hi David, I know exactly what you mean, my doctors experience of SAH and aneurysms is limited so I don't think they have much experience on how to deal with us, what is our "normal", I have no outward signs of my SAH or coiled and stented second aneurysm so people and I include my friends in this don't really understand when I say I am tired, have a pain, cannot do what I did before, I look normal, should behave normal, it would be lovely if we could educate the health professionals on how to deal with us so that we don't find ourselves putting back our recovery by doing to much pushing ourselves to hard, thanks again for this post, I have to see my GP on Monday I will do my best to make the point. Welcome Paul, what a scary time you have had of it and also for your girlfriend, I always said it was much worse for my family than for me, because once the lights went off I was blissfully unaware most of the time what was going on, the taste in your mouth is a common side effect and will fade with time, when I first came out of hospital everything tasted foul even my beloved chocolate, I wish you well and hope being on this site gives you some support, Jill

Hi Mary, I had taste problems when I first came out after SAH, most of them have got better but there are still a few things that really just don't taste the same as they did pre SAH, Jill xxx

Hi Tom and welcome to this site, I am one year post SAH and still sometimes feel emotional and fearful at times but it does get better you will see from others on this site all that you are feeling is normal after SAH/aneurysm discovery so try not to beat yourself up about it, I would contact your surgeon or GP and ask for the exact details of what you have had done you need to be armed with this information, have a good day and once again welcome x

On Wednesday I found out that I am about to become redundant (I am not the only one so I think unfair dismissal might be hard to prove). I am due another operation in the very near future so am not sure where I stand, am I sick or unemployed, I have been working 5 (instead of 7) hours a day in my present job so not back to full time working phased return following SAH last February. I would appreciate anyones input on these issues at the moment I am just stunned. Have a good day everyone and I thank you in anticipation of any answers, Jill xxx

I have read a lot of books of people's experiences a couple I have read recently are "In a Flash" by Kim Justus and also A Near death Experience Uncertain I would Recover. Lord, You Saved Me by Lori Quaranta, if you type Aneurysm into the search bar of Amazon it brings up quite a few books on this subject, I found it inspiring to read others stories of their experiences, I hope this helps xxxxxxxx

Welcome Lisa, I hope you find all the information and support you need here, I think we all feel a bit cast aside when we leave hospital, there seems to be very little information and support, I don't know if that is because everyones experience is slightly different or what! I am one year post SAH and coiling and I still have trouble with fatigue, I had some Cognitive behavioural Therapy which helped with the anxiety perhaps you could investigate that, but for now I wish you well and hope your recovery is speedy and calm, don't expect too much of yourself it is still early days for you yet, take care xxx

Hi Alison, welcome to this site, I hope you will get all the information and support you need here, I suffered a SAH on the 12th Feb 2011 and I praise God every day for saving me, I was pretty much out of it whilst in hospital but when I listen to events that occured I know how difficult it must have been for my family, I trust that your husband is recovering a little every day and that you will find the inner strength you will need to support him, please keep us posted on how he is doing, Jilly x

When I first came out of hospital lots of things just didn't taste right, I admit to being a bit of a chocoholic and was devestated that my favourite chocolate tasted horrible, most of my other taste problems are back to normal but my favourite chocolate still tastes funny 10 months on, have a good day xx

I have a 3mm annie which is being operated on in March, right from the very beginning I knew that I would opt for the operation as my stress levels and anxiety of living with it and the potential it might burst like my first annie is far worse. I saw my surgeon in November and I was asked what I wanted to do and when I said I want to go ahead the surgeon said I am really glad you chose that option, so I am not sure if he could have made that decision for me he would have opted to operate I hope whatever you decide it will be the best decision for you, I wish you a very happy christmas and a healthy 2012 x
