  1. Hi John They don't half put the wind up us, do they, these doctors?? As you say, an unfortunate choice of words from the great man. So, a result of sorts which will hopefully put your mind at rest and bring the BP down. Sorry it's been such a long and worrying wait and hope you start to feel better soon. Love to you both. Sarah x
  2. Hi John How awful for you, really feel for you. Would you like a deputation of BTGers to join you with placards....just tell us where and when! Sarah x
  3. Hi Elaine Great news all round. I'm so pleased for you both. Wishing you both lots of love Sarah x
  4. Hello Sharon Welcome to Behind The Gray. I'm sure you'll find the site as helpful and supportive as we all do, it's been a Godsend to everyone who visits, both SAH survivors and carers. We are all at different stages of recovery, and with different levels of 'symptoms' so there's always somebody who can give experienced advice and information. I'm sorry to hear about the complicated condition but do hope that she continues to improve. Sarah
  5. Good luck John, thinking of you and know just what you're going through. Frustration just isn't in it - it's a whole lot bigger than that! Keep on top of it, we're all there with you Sarah x
  6. Hi Nurianna Just like you I was 'forced' to give up the night before my SAH (only because I had SAH as soon as I woke up so had no chance to have a cigarette!). I've been battling with the thought that it was my fault I had the SAH due to the smoking but, at my appointment with the neurosurgeon yesterday, I was told that there is no reason to say it happened because I smoked, ie I must not blame myself as there are lots of people who smoke who don't have an SAH so it's impossible to know who is susceptible. Of course it doesn't help by smoking. Also like you I either smoke or don't and, much as I'd still like to, can't restrict myself to 'social' smoking (although it's very anti-social now in the uk!) so have completely given up and yes, I still miss it but do feel much better for not smoking. Still get very tempted though, but won't give in to the evil weed! You do sound very definite about not starting again, so well done and stay strong! Sarah xx
  7. Hi Donna Happy 5 months, and congratulations! I guess that you feel so tired all the time because of how down you're feeling and that WILL pass, believe me. 5 months is still very very early, even though it might not feel like it right now. As Louise says, you'll eventually have more good days than bad days. We've all been there and, at the time, couldn't believe it would get any better but it does, so keep reminding yourself of that. Take care Sarah xx
  8. Hi girls Good luck with the gym. I really want to join again (well, not really but know I have to!). I asked the Doctor if I could but he said I had to ask my NeuroSurgeon. I have an appointment with NS on Tuesday so will ask him - I am expecting him to say it's fine in which case it'll be back to the treadmill! I'm really not a gym person but really do need to do something as I've piled the weight on post-SAH. Will hopefully be able to compare gym stories soon! Sarah
  9. Hi Donna Hang in there, missus. What you're feeling is not unusual for us survivors. Take the prescription just for as long as you feel you need it. I've been through similar feelings and, in the end, took the doctor's advice and took the tablets he recommended. They have helped greatly. The counselling will help hugely too. We've all been through a massive life-changing experience that does take some coming to terms with but you WILL begin to feel better, I promise. Take care and see you in a couple of weeks Lots of love Sarah xx
  10. Hi John Sorry to hear the news and that you've got to hurry up and wait. Such a pain, eh? Thinking of you, keep your spirits up. Lots of love Sarah xx
  11. Hi Nurianna Welcome to Behind The Gray. It's a great place to meet other SAH survivors and to realise that you're not alone and can get helpful and reassuring advice at any time. Like you, I survived pretty much intact but with subtle changes that, in the grand scheme of things, should not really be a worry. But they are to me because I know I'm different from before. However, as time goes by I'm learning to accept these differences and accept how lucky I am to be here. It's still hard to believe that the SAH even happened and I struggle to understand why (not that we ever can) so it's a long road to acceptance but I'll get there and so will you, I'm sure. Once again, welcome, and look forward to speaking online here. Sarah x
  12. Hi John Hope you both have a great 60th bash and that all goes well with the neuro. Sarah x
  13. Hi Keith Welcome, great to have you on board. Sasbo (Sarah)
  14. Hmm - still trying to get a wii fit - impossible to find one, for the right price that is. No problem getting one in a 'bundle' with other stuff we don't want. Damn those marketing people!!! Hope you had a great holiday, Laura and looking forward to meeting up again soon - are you going to Karen's? We can't, sadly, but wish we were. We are going to Nottingham on 27th though. Sasbo xx
  15. Hi Sarah 2! Welcome to BTG. Sorry to hear your experience with family but know just what you're going through. My dad in particular is of the same mind as your mum - because he can't see anything visible and that I look and sound just like before then everything is ok, surely and I should just get on with it. Well, I can only re-iterate what my good friend Sami says - "Walk a mile etc etc" - because no-one knows how you feel and what you have to experience except you. It's such an alien thing that we're having to live with daily, and we are all different too but that's why this site is so great; we can share experiences and help each other in a way that nobody else, no matter how close they are to us, can. Stick to your guns and stick around here, we're Family! Lots of love Sarah xxx
  16. Hi there A little bit of tinnitus (I think) but certainly not regular but I do get a lot of 'rushing' sounds/sensations which could be, like Sami and Karen, the blood rushing round. It's quite disorienting when it does happen, don't like it! Sasbo xx
  17. Hi Shiree I have had this but not post-SAH, it was post the birth of my daughter. I had a spinal immediately after the birth as the placenta didn't come away. The spot where the needle went in didn't heal so the spinal fluid leaked out. I didn't know this at the time, just got the most terrible headache (yes, again!) and couldn't lift my head off the pillow - this happened quite slowly, over three or four days - so I'm guessing that you'd be feeling a lot more in pain if that's what it is. To put it right they just took some blood from my hip and injected it into the original hole. Obviously this is only my experience and I'm not a doctor so can't say for sure....... Sasbo xx
  18. Hi Annie Great to hear from you, it's been an age! We had a meet a couple of weeks ago - Laura, Sami, Janet and I met (the first time for some of us) and we were saying we'd not heard from you for ages. You sound like you're keeping well which is fantastic. Take care Sarah x
  19. Hi Joanne Thanks for keeping us up to date - one thing you can be sure of is that everyone on here really cares about everyone else as we've all, in one way or another, been there. As Janet says, it's a very confusing time for the patient and there could be a bit of anger there too. I know I got very angry due to not understanding what had happened and having to stay in hospital when everyone else could come and go, despite there being no way of me being able to move! I had so many irrational thoughts and emotions (still do, which I'm trying to sort out and work on) and I'm convinced it's through lack of understanding, although no one can help you understand as we're all so different. Take care and thinking of you all Sarah xx
  20. Hi Karen Like you, not sure if it's 'that time' as I can get all the symptoms we've been talking about and then.....nothing which is very confusing! This can go on for a two or three months and then back to regular and so on. God certainly had a warped sense of humour when he designed women! Sasbo
  21. Hi Donna Same as Karen - more pain, heavier, really tight, pressured head for a couple of days beforehand and grumpy, so grumpy! Sasbo x
  22. Hi Janet That's fantastic news - good on you girl! Sasbo
  23. Hi Joanne Sorry to hear about your dad but it does sound as if he's recovering fine. To reiterate what everyone else has been saying, I can remember speaking to the ambulance man both before and in the ambulance but then nothing for about a week to 10 days, other than snatches of memory which keep bobbing up even now so it seems to be a 'normal' occurrence. I hope your dad continues to recover and that you see improvement every day. Keep popping in; as Janet says, we're all a bit nutty but probably all were before our SAHs! Take care Sarah x
  24. Hi Jill Welcome! It's a great site, a real support network for us all. Even though my SAH was 2006, 9 years after yours, there still isn't much support out there! Sarah x
  25. Hi Tina Did you mean 'sinny' or 'skinny' - Freudian slip? I like it!! Sasbo x
