  1. Hello BigE,

When I had my SAH/bleed my hubby and Daughter were great.  Now roll forward 7 years and I am a pain lol.

Life goes on and Family support was great but we are in this for the long haul, and that is what others do not understand.

Greg who is on here sent a link for us to read, it explains what we go through and fatigue and tiredness to name but 2.

Wish you well BigE and keep going onwards and upwards, keep a smile close at hand for the down days and try

    singing !!

My answer to all ills is to sing happy songs, and remember you are not alone xxx keep typing when down or you need to vent your problems.

    Good luck

Win  ~  No Stress my Surgeon said xx

  2. Good work Sherlock Greg  ha

That is what I mean when I say I need happiness around me and I do not want to hear Doom and gloom.

The brain needs a break from others troubles, I do switch off a lot xx

Well done Greg this is going straight to my hubby and Daughter lol and maybe a few who think I should be better by now.

Don't get me wrong I am 100% better but I need another 20% lol

    Love

    Win xxxx

  3. Hi Debs Pest Again,

Coffee,  I cannot stand anymore and weird smells also.  I can drink Costa coffee but instant coffee is yuk now !! I drink water and orange juice and long for a coffee but it doesn't taste nice.  No matter who makes it !!

Doc said it is in my head, I think it is called Olfactory someone correct me if I got it wrong !!!  My clothes smell, Lenor is a horrid smell now.

Going to buy some baby shampoo and look for milder cleaners/detergents see if that works.  Wish chocolate tasted horrid !! ha ha

    Good luck

  4. Good for you Debs,

It can be hard at times and I sometimes want to tell my family to Shut Up !! in no uncertain terms.   I bite my tongue lol.

When I first came out of cuckoo land after being ill with Ventriculitis and Sepsis after SAH.  Then had a shunt in head to rid me of hydrocephalus.  That is when I came around.  I think how lucky I am xx

Now Family moan at me lol.  Back to real life !!

Ask Hubs if he will take you for a coffee on a Saturday and try and get into a pattern.  No overdoing it though and when body tells you to sleep,

when possible have a rest xx

Wishing you Good Luck on journey back  with your head up etc etc  lol  and always go to sleep with a smile xxxx

  5. My first time out was in a café with hubby and daughter Debs as he knew getting me out would do me good but I remember nothing apart from windows.  I used to get the sea running through my ears like  as a kid, when  you held a shell up to it. I still get the buzzing shhh  noise in ears but it is usually when I am tired or stressed.

You need to surround yourself with laughter (easier said than done) No listening to others problems but you are a Mum !! hard going xx

I sing when the ringing and buzzing gets too much or have a lay down.  My Surgeon said "No Stress" so I come on here and a majority of times it helps me to know I am not alone in this.

Welcome and drink lots of water and sing  lol xxxx

Anytime you need to let off steam come on here xxx

    All the Best

Winb143 xxxx bbl after a nap lol xx let me know if you want a sing song  ha ha  xxx

Hope wife is feeling better and listen to what others have said.  We leave hospital and we do not know what to do, You as a carer and us as the ones who went through it.

I was out of it for a while so remember nothing apart from an itchy head/scars healing

If in doubt call Doc in.  Good luck to you both and hope to hear some good news xx

Also as others have said plenty of water.

    Good luck both xx

  8. Colleen,

I used to prepare for me dying after what I was told what happened to me (Morbid Win) lol

I then found via my Daughter coming on here,  BTG and to see people joking about their Anni's etc was an eye opener to me.

That is when I realised there is life after a bleed/SAH and it was okay to laugh about it.

I think when we have a bleed or whatever we think the worst.  But to come on here and be able to share or give vent is brilliant.

Thanks once more BTG and all on it xxxx  Doesn't Chris look healthy  grrrrr lol

  9. Luke,

I saw my Daughter walking with my hubby when I had hydrocephalus and she was 14 but in real life then she was in her 30's.

Guess you could call that confabulation ? After I had my shunt put in my Daughter said "Welcome back Mum" and we both cried and hugged.

Me I guess for what I had put them through.  Now we laugh at the things they tell me what I said and done. I even thought my Dad was alive. He died in 1999.

You hang on in there and your Mum will get through it with your help.  Keep her brain busy by doing easy quizzes xxx that's what daughter did with me.  Singing helped me, but poor family!!

    Love to you All

    Win xx

  10. Hi Boozy Suzi,

If you do not need them, why take them ?  I have had Epilepsy since puberty and Epilepsy started then at 14,  but oldun now.

I went ages without them and was thinking hmm I reckon they are leaving me.  Then Docs messed around with pills and I had 1 after 6/7 years of being seizure free.  Calls Epilepsy a few choice names lol xx

So try not to worry just yet over Epilepsy as the more you stress etc !!!   Get op over and done with and then take it from there.

Be Well (and easy for me to type) No Stress and just take one step at a time.

    Love

    Win xxxx

  12. It is bad enough waiting and you must be feeling let down.

Another woman on here had cancellations and she was getting fed up (to say the least)

But although you must be stressed, perhaps he wants a team he knows around him, so good for you !!

I know you must be so "grrrrr and fed up" and I am not helping much  xxx

Head up and do not get too stressed (easy for me to say).

    Keep Well

    Love

Win xxxxxx     Grrr  = me when angry or upset xx

  13. Hi BoozySuzi,

We are always being told by people who have had it done "it is more Straight forward without the bleed"   I understand you are scared and if I knew what was happening to me I would have been scared also.

Luckily or not I was out of it due to my Hydrocephelus so I was in Dream Land.

I remember asking the nurse when having my shunt put in "Will you put my cross back on straight away" and she told me she will be with me all the way too put my mind at ease and I awoke and sung to her lol.  (Hope it wasn't my Dads rude songs).

So you hang in there and I wont tell you not to be scared, but remember no bleed = makes it easier for Surgeon

As Tina has said Let us know how you get on and good luck xxxxx

    Love

    WinB143 xxxx

  14. Hours before my SAH, my Sister was phoning me and I was cooking hubs tea/curry and she moaned about her son.  This went on for approx. 1 hour plus.  I tried being polite but she then moaned about our Sister and in the meantime my hubby came in with some wine.

My head was banging listening to my Sisters tales of woe.  She had already phoned me at lunch time and I told her I wasn't feeling great.  Anyway back to me cooking a curry, I passed out and he/hubs took the phone and said to my Sis something is wrong with Win can you get off the phone I need to call ambulance.  She got off I assume lol and since that day,  I cannot take anyone shouting or telling me their tales of woes.

I wish you well and Keep away from Concerts  lol and always think of happy stuff and go to bed with a smile when possible xx

Good luck in recovery Suzy and early days yet xxxx it does get better.  Although I cannot take arguments anymore or others problems apart from on here lol  xx

    Regards

WinB143 xx  Always go to bed with a happy thought xxxx

  15. Chris,

Okay forget singing etc, but there is on here  'A Letter From Your Brain'   if you can manage to read it you will understand what your brain has been through.

When I came home after Ventriculitis and Sepsis along with my SAH, my home looked different and it took a while to realise  that a new fire had been put in and they moved furniture to allow for hospital bed.   Once I had shunt fitted all went back to normal, me singing and learning how to walk.  Still stuck at 125/200 yards but they said I'd never walk again !!

What I am trying to say is "You Will Make it"   just don't rush things and you will get there.

Wishing you all the best and we can beat this xxxx

  16. Next step to take her out even for a water or a cuppa and then she will have an aim.

My hubby took me out and although I remember nothing he said I enjoyed it and I used to drink from a teacher beaker then progressed to cardboard cups lol. But I remember being in a light place with all windows it was Marks and Spencers café with lots of Windows xx

I am so glad I had my hubby and Daughter as when I had hydrocephalus I used to think the OT's were bullies to me ha !!

I must have been a pain as when they told me to do things I used to cry and sulk as they told me off.

Glad your Mum has you xx keep spirits high Luke and good luck to you All xx

  17. Hi Chris,

A lot of people say they have been sent home and it is like "okay what now".

My Daughter found this site and put me on here and it has been a Godsend as I thought doom and gloom to follow !!

There is life after a Brain bleed and you need to surround yourself by positive people not Doom and Gloomers.

So as my Surgeon said to me."No Stress " so when stressed I sing it helps but only happy songs, and it relieves my stress and I try to be happy most of the time.

There are times when I want to shut the world out but BTG has helped me so much and the people on here, I always walk away with a smile.

You will get there Chris keep looking forward and occasionally look back to see how far you have come.  Not too often though xx

Head up shoulders back off we go xxx We will beat this together.

As for short term memory read, sing, read again do what you think will help you the best.  I couldn't remember where I lived so hubby wrote it on the wall and every morning he'd say (covering address) Where do we live.  it comes back slow but surely

    Win xx

  18. I was told I'll never walk but I do but the botty always sticks out lol and after a while back aches and then neck lol

We will get there sooner or later, never give up and when down come on here and give vent to how you are feeling.

We have all been there and got the scars although they don't show, but we will get there eventually ..keep going forward and see how far you have come.

    Best wishes

    Win xxxxx

  19. As usual Daffs writes a good post,

I mean it Daffs and it doesn't hurt if we do not cook, or we rest up for a while as we always say to each other listen to your body.

I know you do not have the luxury of being able to go bed when body tells you as you have children, good job you have your Mum to help you Daffs and when body/brain tells you full steam ahead, take Mum and you out or what you do with Mum.

You must have been wiped out to stay off here lol.  Now remember to rest up and don't be brave be a lazy moo for a few days, as that's what I do lol xxxxx  Keep smiling and singing and get Mum to join in xxxx

Sorry you are on a downer but I know my Shunt pard, she will  be okay after a rest, so be happy and never give up as I need my shunt pals for my  barometer head days.  Now smile and sing and do not overdo it.  Wins Orders !!!

Take care Pal xxx feet up and rest xxx   Tap dance coming up later, the one where I slip into the sink xxxx

  20. Singing helps me, remembering words to songs and new songs helped me.

Do not help him,  unless he is stressed, when he forgets as it will come to him later.

My Hubby put our address on wall,  so I was reminded that I never lived in the old house.

Also what was sad I forgot my Dad had died and used to say to my Sisters "Tell Dad I'll be up when I feel better" I

    forgot he died. in 1999

It comes back eventually but it will do it at its own pace so get him to learn a new song.   One he doesn't remember from past lol xx

    Good Luck both

WinB143 Poems also helped me but will Son want to recite  lol xxx Keep smiling both xx No Stress hence my singing

  21. You seem to be bouncing back quick Brian so Well Done.

Try and take it slowly at first, listen to your body and all will be well.

I was coiled,  but got Ventriculitis and then Sepsis while in hospital.

It was a hard time for my Family and we go through it but so do our Family as they feel helpless.

I wish you all the best and keep smiling when possible it really helps  (So does singing happy songs)

WinB143 x  My surgeon told me NO STRESS so passing it on hence my singing lol
