  1. I know it is natural to stress Maya, but as others have said do not stress, hard not to but think of happy times when you laughed until you cried.

I do that a lot and get weird looks from hubby and daughter xx

See Doc and say you are scared and tell him how you feel he might be able to push it forward.

Good luck and type any worries you might have on BTG. Good luck, Win

  2. Hi Debs,

When I asked my hubby about what happened to me he didn't want to talk about it.  Both him and my Daughter went through it while I was sleeping.

My Daughter still cries when she recalls it.  So I do not push it.

Your hubby doesn't want to be reminded about it all perhaps?  Give him the best you can as he lived through it with you, every decision etc.

Wishing you all the best in your recovery xx

    Win xxxx

  3. Hi Graham,

    Welcome to BTG.

I had my SAH in 2009 and had complications ie Ventriculitis, UTI and Sepsis.  This site helped my Daughter and also has in turn helped me and any worries I had.

I was told I'd never walk again but up to date 100/150 yards before back goes.  I know I am getting well as not so much sympathy from hubs lol.

You keep doing what you feel comfortable with,  and I wish you all the best in your recovery

  4. Deb,

It is good to off load on here, it has helped me no end.

To be honest I thought it was the end for me and then I saw people who had same as me and they could laugh.

So keep coming on here and writing/typing your worries down and you'll hear "I had that" and it makes you feel normal and not so worried.

As Tina and and Sami have said if you want to see Doc then do it.  It is on record then. xx

Now I do hope you can cheer up and start recovery progress.  No rush though xxxx

    Good luck

    Win xxxx

  5. Good job your Parents have you Luke xx

I have lost some weight by just having a square of dark chocolate, and I know this sounds silly but I buy the real dark choc as I don't like it so much.  I have a choc mousse with one strawberry in it and it stops my craving (mini pots).

Hope Mum is feeling better and wishing you all Well xx

  6. Suzi, Yes you Boozy lol xx

Glad all went reasonably well apart from being sick and headaches. Phew !! Bet it is a relief for you xx

Hope tailbone gets better, try a Coccyx cushion it has a hole by base of spine I awoke with a pain there and it is so uncomfortable, I still sit with my cushion (as I call it my hole cushion) lol. But you have spasms !! so might not need one.  Well it wont hurt to relieve pressure I guess.

I was in bed for an age plus the spinal injections/lumber puncture.  Phew glad I cannot remember any of that!!

Good luck on recovery and ask Tina as she had clipping done xx

    Love

Win xx (she who cannot sleep) lol ..Keep Well and Bright xx

  7. Depends on the person as it took me an age. Complications !!

Others feel better, quicker than others, it all depends on you and the bleed.  Take is slow and no stress and think of happy times.

You Will get there Wall, just take it easy , and once again no stress as my Surgeon told me !!

    Good luck

    Win x

  8.  Can't talk about driving as I do not drive, now bright lights I use sunglasses as I cannot take any harsh lights.

Give yourself time and keep a smile close at hand xx  I remember typing I feel giddy when I first came on here and was told when standing swing legs off bed, sit for a while and do not rush up, it works honestly !! xx

It is a long haul but take it easy and we are survivors so take your time and let your brain heal, on here there is "A letter from your Brain" it tells you what brain has been through xx and you of course xxxx

Good luck and take it slowly at first       ~     http://web.behindthegray.net/index.php?/topic/2113-a-letter-from-your-brain-by-stephanie-st-claire-©1996/&do=findComment&comment=29089  l

  9.  You will only get good advice on here Verna.

I came on and saw people happy and joking and I thought there is a life after SAH,  and I can honestly say I have left here with tears in my eyes.

    Tears of laughter only!!

I have put a song in someone else's post, changed the topics of someones post and they all stuck with me even though I was a pain lol.

You will get better and you will get there eventually, so sing up with happy songs and think of good times only.  We have been through it.

The other side is much brighter xx So be of good heart and lets see a smile break across your face ..come on one smile xxxx when ready !

    Love

  10. ;My shunt woke me up as I said Heather and made me more aware, as it is supposed to do !!

A woman on here has an adjustable shunt perhaps she can tell you more about it.  Her name  is Daffodill.

As Subs has said it is a long journey and when I had my shunt in I am told I sang to the nurse who was kind to me directly I woke up.

I wish you both well and may your hubby improve with time.

    Good luck

Winb143  or just Win lol xxxx

  11. Hi Heather,

    Welcome to BTG.

I had a SAH and other problems ie Ventriculitis, Sepsis and after I got well had a shunt put in for Hydrocephelus.

It was hard on my Family but they sang to me and when I remember what happened, I realise my family went through it all xx

I forgot my address and luckily I never remembered anything until shunt was put in.  It is a long haul  and it will take a time.

If you can get him out even for a coffee it will do him good, I couldn't hold myself upright and used to slide sideways, I had a special chair which held my neck upright, bet I looked a fool !! but getting me out was good and my hubby got me a teacher beaker and I drank from that !!

Then I moved on to cardboard cups and as I said getting out made me feel so much better.  Keep him away from people who tell you their tales of woe.  If possible surround him with happiness.  His memory will improve slowly I am still saying to my Daughter or Hubby "did I take my pills?"  So anytime you or hubby are worried it is a good place to come as this site helped my Daughter when I was ill. It helps me now xx

Good luck Heather and chin up it does get better xxxx  Good luck to your hubby xx Warm salt water on his head as it could be scars itching, it helped me xx or see Doc. ?

  14. Katy,

I had a CT scan after having an MRI, but in those days I came on here and said "Oh I have to have a CRI scan"  but meant CT lol

It done me no harm,  as at that time  my temples were looking  swollen so the gave me a CT scan.  Still not gone down but they said it was

nothing to worry about !! ahhhh lol

You will be okay as Deb says.

    Love

  15. Hi Luke,

I missed my 40th Anniversary due to SAH and I remember my hubby got a big box of chocs.  Well the weight I put on was nobody's business !

After my SAH I developed a craving for sweet things and I knew I was over eating, but I was like a kid in a sweet shop and after I was told what happened to me the more I ate.

Think it is a comfort thing but I am not happy with my size, always been plump but this is ridiculous !! my aim is to be a 16 !!

When people told me no more, I knew they were helping me but I used to sulk .  After I had my shunt put in I decided to do something about it.  Still I diet and come off it same day.  I cannot walk that far so that doesn't help

Do you hire yourself out as my Daughter isn't as good a cleaner as you sound.  Anyway hope all goes well with Mum and meal.

    Love

Win xxxxxxx Shhh hide this up in case my Daughter see's it lol xxx

  16. Hi Verna,

I was sure I was going to die lol when told what happened to me.  SAH, Ventriculitis and then to top it all Sepsis !!

My Daughter found this site and it helped her. She put me onto it and I have never looked back.

It is a long haul and slowly but surely you will get the old you back and be needing your own space but it is natural to be scared at first.

Keep coming on here and you will get reassurance as I did and any worries just type away, they are a helpful lot xx and can be funny at times.

Remember we are survivors so onwards and upwards xxxx and get singing xx

    Love

    Winb143  xxxx

Shh don't tell brother I might break into song or he wont come on here xx,   This site has helped me and my Daughter as she got advice while I was out of it and then I realised it wasn't the end for me  and there is a life after an SAH xxxx

    Wishing you Both Well

  18. Hi Cassandra,

I had mine in 2009 and it has been a long haul, I awoke really when shunt was put in 2010,  as before that I have hardly any recollection just vague little memories.

My Daughter found this site and it helped her.  So here I am,  walking is hard for me but 60/100 yards then back goes.

Do not look on sites as Paul said,  listen to others stories and you will see you are in an Elite Group lol,  as we made it !!  phew !!

It is time that heals us and the stronger we get the more able we become, fatigue is awful I must admit !!

Keep drinking water as our brain needs it and my surgeon said "No Stress"  well life is full of stress so I try singing or thinking happy thoughts.

You will get there eventually just keep typing and giving vent to your feelings by coming on here xx  a trouble shared as the saying goes !!

Wishing you all the best and never give up !! Order from Win  lol xx

Keep Happy and sing is my answer to all ills !!

    Best wishes

    Winb143  xx
