    Hello

Hi Graham Welcome to the BTG family Keith has already summed up the many difference that we have with recovery. Look forward to hearing more from you. Have a great Christmas. Janet x
  2. Hi karen/John My annie was clipped and the Angio taken afterwards showed no further problems so I was discharged from my Neurosurgeon. My annie was the opposite side to yours Karen it was the left post comm artery. I still get pain around my eye more so if I'm overtired and definitely seem to suffer with my sinuses more. Can't mention that word to Morris though as that is what the G.P diagnosed me with before I went into hospital. Have a lovely christmas John. Janet x
  3. Hi Aine Hope you feel better soon although I blame the time of year my head has been giving me gyp for the past week or more. Good news that you managed to get more flights booked. Try to relax for the next couple of days then enjoy your christmas break. I also find it slightly uncomfortable at the hairdressers when having the wash done but as it doesn't normally take too long tend to grin and bear especially as the results are normally worthwhile. Janet x
  4. Hi Laurie Sending you loads of positive vibes and a couple of big hugs. Hope the weekend goes really well for you all. Janet x
  5. Hi Laurie Nice to hear from you what a wonderful xmas pressie having Michael at home good news too about him managing to eat more. Look forward to hearing more when you have more time. Janet x
  6. Hi I don't think it matters what procedure you had we all suffer from the headaches and fatigue. Like Karen I have a few good weeks at a time then tend to get a bad one. Janet x
  7. Hi Vivien Know how you feel wayward daughters are very stressful I have three all in their twenties now and still really capable of coursing a great deal of stress. I have found the last few days I have had a return of dizzyness I think some of it is with overdoing it last week but the changeable weather in't helping either. Hope things ease soon for you. Janet x
  8. Hi Stephen and Welcome Its nice to hear that you are getting plenty of support from your family and friends it certainly helps when trying to come to terms with the after effects of an SAH. As the others have already said just remeber to listen to your body drink plenty of fluids and get plenty of rest. Take care Janet x
  9. Hi Holly Try not to worry too much about the dizzy/faint feeling it is quite natural especially after doing a bit too much. I find that if I do too much I still get the dizzy feeling and lightheadedness. Janet x
  10. Hi Mollie I had problems walking any distance for quite a few months after my SAH and my legs and feet used to feel like lead weights if I walked too far. I also used to have a pounding head. It could just be that even though you think its a short walk into town your body obviously disagrees with you. Weather permitting find a bench/wall or a cafe for a breather before attempting the uphill walk home. Either that or get family or friends to run your errends for you. Hope you're managing to get plenty of rest. Janet x
  11. Hi Mag So sorry to hear about your devastating loss especially as it so soon after losing your father. I know at the moment that it will be of small comfort but you will be glad later on that you were with her. I lost my own mother just over 9 years ago it does take a long time to come to terms with but it will get easier eventually. My thoughts are with you and your family at this very tragic time. Janet x
  12. Hi Eddie I got told by my Neuro just before he operated that if I looked back in 12 months I would be nearly back to normal. I now know that I will probably never be fully back to normal but I am slowly learning my limits and learning to listen more to my body. Don't know if you've found it yet but there is a thread under the subarachnoid discussion which deals with the no cause found SAH. Speak soon and take care Janet x
  13. Hi There I find wearing a hat this time of year a must as the cold plays havoc with my head. My SAH was clipped so the scar sight can get quite painful when cold. I'm just over a year into recovery and managed to return to the gym after 8 months but I don't do weight lifting at all. You mention that you get a lot of pressure in your eyes do you have any follow up appointment so you can discuss it with the Neuro. If its causing you real concern it may be worth nagging at them to look into it for you. Could you give us a name take it Eruff is initial and surname. Anyway take it easy look forward to hearing more from you. Janet x
  14. Hi Reme and welcome I can't give advice about your medication you would need to talk to your Doctor. If its making you feel so bad maybe he can try you with something different as different drugs to tend to have different side effects. You seem to have coped quite well for a number of years since your SAH but it must have been very frightening for you and distressing at times suffering on your own. At least they have now diagnosed what is wrong and the medication should hope to control the seizures you have been having. I'm glad that you now realise that some of the feelings you have are normal after having a SAH and its not just age. I'm just over a year post SAH and still have trouble with concentration, memory and noisy places. Once again welcome to our virtual family take care and make sure you get plenty of rest. Janet x

    My Dad

Hi Suze and welcome I'm so glad that you found us and the site has been of some help to you. It sounds as though your dad is a fighter he's been through an awful lot in the last few weeks but it does sound as though the medical staff are keeping a close watch on him. Recovering from a SAH is a very individual thing and we all progress at different rates probably the severity of the bleed also plays a part in how quickly people recover. My heart goes out to you and your family at this trying time and hopefully that soon you will start to see more of an improvement in your dad. Take care of yourself and your mum Janet x
  16. Hi Mag and Welcome What an awful time for you and your family as Blondie says in time you will be glad that you were with your Dad when he died and it will be a comfort to you. I come from quite a large family and we were all with my dad at the end. Even though you feel that the hospital staff have written your mother off she is starting to make small improvements despite what they think. With regards to telling your mum about your dad I can't offer any advice you'll probably know when you think she can handle that. Take care of yourself Janet x
  17. Hi Laurie Nice to hear that you enjoyed the break and also that you will be taking a little time each week for yourself. Hope Mike is doing well. Speak soon Janet x
  18. Hi Linda Bet that made you feel The hair colour it wouldn't be blonde would it? Having said that I'm dark in colour but I'm very dipsy as well trying to blame it on the SAH but the family aren't letting me. Janet x
  19. Hi Matt/Aly What a truly wonderful start to a relationship don't worry about the age thing my best friends brother started a relationship with a woman 18 years older than him in 1978 and they're still together to this day. So age truly doesn't matter at all. Its the amount of feelings you have for each other that is important and you both obviously both feel very strongly about each other. Just enjoy those feelings and to hell with what anyone else thinks. Glad you managed to get out and about just remember to get plenty of rest in between outings. Hope you have another great weekend. Janet x
  20. Hi Jane Welcome to the site its a great place and everyone is really friendly. I can't help with advice about your procedure as my aneurysm was clipped. I did have double vision for a couple of months after my SAH but fortunately it corrected itself and I think most of us suffer with short term memory problems mine is worse if I'm tired. Look forward to hearing more from you. Janet x
  21. Hi Matt Whetting our appetites are you have a great weekend with Aly. Looking forward to Tuesdays story. Janet x
  22. Hi Aly Great news about making it to the supermarket well done enjoy your glass of wine. Look forward to hearing Matt's side of the story he sounds like a keeper have a lovely weekend together. Janet x
  23. Hi Aly and Welcome I agree with what Sami has already said its a slow process recovering from an SAH but your energy will start to return gradually. Its' just a case of taking each day as it comes and resting as much as possible. Like you I also had a trip back to the hospital scared witless about 8 weeks after my SAH. They gave me a CT scan and sent the results over to Liverpool to check before discharging me as all clear on the same day. I think in the early months when you get weird sensations and pains it is only natural to get anxious but this site has been a great help to me and has really helped with my recovery. Take care and look forward to hearing more from you. Janet x
  24. Hi Laurie Make sure you enjoy your few days break you deserve them. look forward to chatting when you get back. Janet x
  25. Hi I also had a crainiotomy but my bone removed has been replaced so unfortunately I can't give you any advice. I will mention that were the bone has been replaced does now alter in shape at different times its quite a weird feeling sometimes the scar line can feel very bumpy and painful to touch. Maybe discuss it with the Neuro when you next have an appointment they obviously never replaced it for a reason. Janet x
