  1. Hi Donna Like you and Tina by the sounds of it I spent a few days in my bed feeling really ill before finally going into hospital. I fell ill the 2nd of November 06 and that weekend everyone was letting off fireworks I was rolling round in absolute agony from the pain and noise. I wasn't scared of going to bed afterwards but for the first few months if Morris was working I couldn't go to sleep in the dark and had to leave a light on. I also used to dread dropping off to sleep because for at least the first 9 months as I used to get a jolting sensation prior to falling asleep. Happy to say that thankfully I only get that sensation now if I'm extremely tired. Janet x
  2. Hi Elaine and Welcome The sickness is as Tina has already said related to the brain injury and balance problems. I think most of us would agree that in the first few months it is quite common. Try to make sure that your mum drinks plenty of water I know how hard that can be if she is vomiting a lot but it is important that she keeps well hydrated. Best wishes to you both of you. Janet x
  3. Hi Great to hear from you hope you're not working too hard. With regard to the drooping eyelid I don't have to manually lift the lid anymore but my left eyelid often feels heavier have always put it down to the fact that when I had third nerve palsy it was shut completely for about 9 weeks. My lid will also close by itself if I'm tired. I'd hassle your G.P, Neurologist Joan at least that way you can have peace of mind. Take care and let us know if they can give you an explanation for why its happening. Janet x
  4. Hi Donna Great news now you can concentrate on getting better just remember to listen to your body and get plenty of rest Janet x
  5. Hi Donna/Anne I've been back at work for 12 months now started on a phased return and in the first few months went from 20 to 30 hours but have realised that anymore would be too much to cope with. I find by the end of the week I am generally very tired and it takes me all weekend to recharge my batteries. Janet x
  6. Hi Myra and Zip I'm almost 18 months post SAH and when tired my speech is still affected my words come out jumbled and sometimes backwards. Just as well my sense of humour wasn't affected because my husband and daughters find it hilarious But it can be very frustrating at times. Janet x
  7. Hi John like you John I would also assume that they don't consider it poses any immediate concern. If they thought it needed prompt treatment you would definitely be seen a lot quicker. It always seems to take a couple of months between having the scans and getting seen by the Neuro's. Janet x
  8. Hi Chills and a warm welcome I can only echo what Tina has already said you should be extremely proud of how far you've come. Could you let me in on your weight loss secret I still struggle to loose any at all. Look forward to hearing more from you. Janet x
  9. Hi Donna I agree with Karen the codeine can cause problems I took them for the first few months and found that towards the end of that time the headpains were worse. Both my G.P and Neurosurgeon stated that they were causing codeine headaches. I now only take paracetomol and a very low dose of Amytriptyline for the nerve pains. Janet x
  10. Hi Donna Good luck with the scan you'll be fine. Janet x
  11. Hi Donna Its natural to feel worried about if you have anymore or not but you would have been told if that was the case. It takes a few months to get over the fear but it does lessen gradually. Janet x
  12. Oops Just noticed I lied about how old I was I was still only 43 Janet x
  13. Hi I don't get tapping as such but mine does still make creaking noises sometimes. Janet x
  14. Hi Linda Know exactly how you feel I joined a gym last June and up until xmas made myself go at least 3 times a week but so far this year I have not managed as much. I find that most days when I finish work I just feel to tired but I am going to have to force myself as I do usually feel better a lot better after going and definitely not quite as podgy/stodgy Janet x
  15. Hi Donna Afraid can't help you with the tablets as I've not had those ones. I found that with taking Codeine for a few months after my SAH that they caused worse headaches apparently long term use can lead to that but you should be okay for a while yet. I just use paracetomol and was prescribed Amytriptiline in a low does for the nerve pain but only started taking them last September and they do stop some of the pains. As to worry about having another SAH it does take time for the shock to wear off and as it does the anxiety starts to lessen. For the first 3 or 4 months I had to sleep with the light on if Morris was at work but you do get used to all the weird sensations and pains after a while it just takes time. Just give yourself time and get plenty of rest it does start to get easier. Janet x
  16. Hi Donna At only one month on it is quite common to feel really dizzy especially after trying to do anything. It does get easier with time though and once you get used to all the twinges and sensations the anxiety also gets better as well. Just remember to take it things slowly and get plenty of rest its your body telling you it needs to rest. Take care Janet x
  17. Hi Jackie Welcome to this wonderful sight. Sorry to hear that you're feeling so low at the moment its bad enough having had one SAH to come to terms with the second one you suffered must make it even harder for you. The best advice really is to listen to your body and drink plenty of fluids and make sure you get plenty of rest. I hope that you have plenty of family and friends around you as that certainly helps as well. Take care of yourself sending you some virtual hugs. Janet x
  18. Hi Leonie Good luck for Monday hope you manage to get some of the answers you need. Janet x
  19. Hi Sarah A very warm welcome to you. Like tina and yourself I was also clipped I 'm 18 months post surgery/bleed and have been back at work since last June. Sadly I haven't been able to get back to full time as yet. Its nice to hear that you are doing so well its also very normal to have set backs especially if you overdo things too much. Just remeber to take things easy and rest when you're body tells you it needs it. Look forward to hearing more from you. Janet x
  20. Hi Tina hopefully this shortcut will work. http://www.guba.com/watch/3000017912 Janet x
  21. Hi Tina There is a video of clipping think its in the Subarchnoid forum somewhere its about 18 minutes long and quite gruesome in places but very interesting. think it took me three attempts to watch it all. Janet x
  22. Hi Keith Really interesting reading even though it doesn't apply to me. Janet x
  23. Hi Anne At six months I was still suffering fairly severe headaches and my self confidence was quite low but I returned to work after 7 months which improved my self confidence. The headaches can still be quite severe but nowhere near as bad as they were. I also still think about the SAH most days but I don't get quite so anxious or worried about all the different creaks, twinges and pains now. Janet x
  24. Hi Cal I also still get dizzy spells sometimes mainly when tired/stressed but sometimes if I get up too quickly judging by the respnses it seems fairly normal which is comforting to know. Janet x
  25. Hi Myratas Like Tina I also lost some hair during the first few months and the left side where I had the operation still doesn't grow quite the same aa the other side. Janet x
