  1. Hi John mine SAH was on the left comm artery my sight was badly affected at first but I now have better vision in my left eye than right. I have to wear glasses for reading and they are quite abit stronger than pre SAH. Alcohol is also something that I can't tolerate very well post SAH. I find that any more than one drink leaves me feeling bad for days. Janet x
  2. Hi Clare Thats great news you must be relieved to know that they didn't find anything Janet x
  3. Hi Holly My first flight was at 6 months post op just to Corfu. It was only really take off and landing that seemed to affect me with a slight build up of pressure in my head. It was the fatigue after that wiped me out for the first week but it was worth it as had a fabulous time. Hope you have an absolutely fabulous time when you go on your holiday. Janet x

    Hi all

Hello Holly and welcome Your experience is not unusual for several of us it took a while to be correctly diagnosed. Glad that you are starting to feel better. Janet x
  5. Hello Nita and welcome As Blondie and Keith have already said it is a great sight and we all find it a great help. You certainly wont put us off everyones recovery is different and we all have our good and bad days. Look forward to hearing more from you. Janet x
  6. Hi Linda Congratulations on your six month annie-versary. I'm still having problems accepting that I can't do as much as I used too. It can get quite frustrating at times but I am starting to listen to my body and when I start to feel tired I make sure that I rest. I think that taking each day as it comes works best some days I have more energy and those are the days that I know I can achieve more. Janet x
  7. Hi Sarah Do you manage to sleep on the rhs side or is it to painful to lie on it. Janet x
  8. Hello Domestic Goddess and welcome to the site its a great place to be. I had my SAH in November last year and it took nearly a week before I was transferred and treated at Walton Hospital in Liverpool. I was lucky though because even though they didn't realise what it was I was kept in until the visiting Neuro came over and took all the test results back to Walton with him. It is quite common not to be diagnosed quickly enough as you will find out by reading some of the other members experiences. Glad that you are starting to feel better hope to hear more from you soon. Janet x
  9. Hi does anyone else suffer with tender patches/spots on their heads. As you know I had my annie clipped via crianiotomy (spelling) so I can't sleep on the left hand side of my head as it is still tender. In the last few weeks I have found that the right side of my head just across from the ear and the crown of my head can be quite painful so far am putting it down to pressure of being slept on so much as I used to always sleep on the left hand side of my head pre SAH. Janet x
  10. Hello Sarah I also watched Johnny English last night and found it hilarious and am not really a big fan of Rowan Atkinson either. Maybe the sense of humour does change after but its the first time I've actually noticed though. Thanks for raising it I probabaly wouldn't have even considered the issue otherwise. Janet
  11. Hello and welcome Sharon you had your SAH at a very young age and have managed to achieve so much. I will definitely be picking up a copy of your book. Janet x
  12. I've actually got one but find it quite tiring and I am still unsure if its helping at all. On the plus side it is quite good fun though. Janet x
  13. Hello Siobhan It was lovely meeting you too. I think we all find BTG a great support and have made some great friends here. You have just come through one of the hardest years having to watch your mother recover from a serious condition. It must have made you feel quite alone at times especially with your friends as it is hard enough for adults to cope with so must have been hard for them to understand what you were going through. You are a very brave and wonderful girl and I know the biggest thing of all making your mum recover so well is you and your dad. Take care Siobhan see you again soon. Janet xx
  14. Hi Linzi Welcome to the site lok forward to hearing more about you. Janet x
  15. Karen Is it that with men their work/life balance is very different to the way in which the majority of women live their lives. Therefore because of SAH's their priorities become different.... Janet
  16. Hi Karen I don't think that so far its changed my attitude to life and it certainly hasn't reformed me. It is still early days for me though its only 9 months to the day since I had my annie clipped. Like Linda I find that I have less patience and get very irritable was really quite laid back before and patient. But I agree with your philosophy of life and have always been a very realistic person.... Maybe a few years down the line I might respond differently if the same question is raised. Janet x
  17. Well done Linda thats a great a achievement to run 5k. Glad you are finally feeling so much better. Janet x
  18. Andy Sorry to hear that Heather had another incident just when you were looking forward to your time together. Your reactions are natural of course you felt angry and what other way could you react. You have to remember that first and foremost you are Heather's husband and you love her your reactions are normal. You have a deep inner strength that you have been able to draw on that allows you to see Heathers condition as the illness that it is and provide the love and support that she needs. I can't pretend to know what you must be suffering at the moment but I do know that Heather is a very lucky woman to have such a supportive person. Janet x
  19. Hi Harvey and welcome to the site. Can only agree with everyone else, look forward to hearing more about you. Janet x

Hi Wendy I agree with everyone else thanks for sharing your experiences with us. Janet

    hello

Hello Wendy and welcome I'm like Keith not even at the 12 month stage yet, looking forward to hearing more about the way you've coped post SAH. Janet
  22. Hi Ursula Hope you get success with being referred back to the Neuro's soon, as Karen says keep pursuing it with your G.P. Fingers crossed for you that you soon get the treatment you need to sort out the problem. Take care Janet

    Hi everyone

Hi Jayne look forward to hearing more about you, when you feel more upto it. Make sure you get plenty of rest. Janet
  24. Hi Keith glad you've managed to discuss slowing down slightly at work. As you know I returned to work beginning of last month but so far haven't managed to progress passed 20 hours a week and that leaves me drained and exhausted come Friday. Take it easy and rest up Janet
  25. Hello Debbie and Welcome I'm 9 months post SAH and have not long started back to work on part-time medical grounds. I'm currently working just 20 hours a week and supposed to be increasing that gradually over the next 13 weeks to my full-time hours. I don't think that it will happen though as just doing the 20 hours is exhausting. I find that I'm not the same person as before at all with my confidence in my own abilities at rock bottom. I find that as well as problems with fatigue and short term memory I also blurt out the first thing that enters my head which can be embarssing as its not always politically correct. Like yourself I like everything to be structured which is why I am trying to return to work as I found it hard maintaining any sort of routine without getting back to work. Don't beat yourself up with what you feel others may be thinking just take each day as it comes, I've yet to have a day when I've felt a 100% . Best Wishes Janet
