  1. Jim's piece of advise would be to slow down and smell the roses. Think of all you have in your life and live each day to it's fullest. Take time to rest and hope that at some point you will once again feel normal. Teach ME how to drive!!! Which I am so much better at than he is My thoughts as a partner and love one is to are find a great group of people who have had similar occurances that can help me through all the why's of the SAh and also the outcome (which I have) Cal XXX
  2. Paul, For the first time in weeks I had a good laugh. Your story is great and your humor is awesome! Thanks so much and Lesley I hope you are well. You have a great guy who obviously loves you very much. Cal XXX
  3. We were told that Jim might have had a blood vessel that burst causing his SAH without an anyuersum. Jim wanted me to ask if anyone has heard from their Doctor's or from any type of other information what happens to the damaged vessel. Does it dissolve or repair itself? As always, Thanks for your responses. Cal XXX
  4. Hi, Does anyone know what the follow up is with a SAH without having an aneurysm? Jim is going for a follow up appointment in March to see if he is able to return to work, but nothing has been mentioned regarding any type of tests. It seems that he should have at least an MRI. Thanks, Cal & Jim XXX
  5. Louise, Thanks for your thought about me taking care of me. Something I have not thought about in a long time. I also take care of my 80 year old Dad that is not in great health, so "me" is not really an option. But, you are right. I should pick up a good book and take a spot on the couch. Take care, Cal XXX OOO
  6. Hi Julie, You are so lucky you found this site. I am a "Newbie" myself having joined recently. I have so much support and help from everyone on this site. Cal XXXX
  7. Thank you all for your responses. It appears that many of you have suffered SAH in the past year, or so it seems by the dates that you have joined the site. I am hoping, as I am sure you all are that eventually this will go away. Jim and I have a "Game Plan". We are going to go to a store each day on the week-end to make Jim accustomed to the surrounding he so much enjoyed prior or his SAH. I work days all week and by the time I get home Jim is too tired to go out. We are on a mission to bring Jim back to the quality of life he knew! Wish us luck! Cal & Jim XXX OOO
  8. Hi, Jim & I had issues with our computer. But finally it is up and running. I was having withdrawals not visiting everyday. Andy was so kind to copy the booklet that was given to him when he left the hospital. Jim and I have read it several times and it has answered a lot of questions and also explained the procedures that are performed. It has helped us to understand what can happen and that we are not the only ones that have lived through this. If anyone needs a copy, please let me know and I would be more than happy to copy and send to you. Jim is having better days. The headaches are still there in the morning but taking advil seems to be working instead of the prescribed meds. He is doing more and being less tired. I have a tendancy to "Overwatch him" but......I have been the nurse for so long it is hard to let go We had a milestone yesterday. We took a ride in the car and went to Home Depot (which is a store in the US that sells all kinds of things for home repair, Jim's hobby). It was hard for him in the store as he still feels almost as he says "High" and he says it is hard for him to be out in the air without having the 4 walls around him. Does anyone else feel like this? Sorry to be so long winded but I have missed you! Hope all is well and I will be back tomorrow! Cal & Jim XXX
  9. Hi Stephen and Karen, As I read both of your posts I realize this is how Jim also was. Jim could not sit for long periods without jumping up to do things. Most times physical things. I always told him he had to take it easy. With all that has happened we have spoken and thought his SAH might have been a warning sign that it was time to slow down and take time to "Smell the Roses". Cal XXX

    Hello

Hi John, Welcome to the site. I have found this site to be so helpful and the people are TERRIFIC! Glad you are doing so well! Cal XXX
  11. Thanks Karen, Jim was comforted to know that he is not the only one with a stiff neck. Cal XXX
  12. Hi, Jim is the head electrician, that is the title of his position. (Andy P. got a chuckle out of his title). Which means he is the boss of electrician's at his place of employment. He works at Youville Hospital which is in Massachusetts. It is a rehab hospital. Jim has a long way to go before going back to work but he is optimistic that it will happen someday. Cal XXX
  13. Karen, I was truly impressed with your thoughts on where you are now with your life. I am not the person that is dealing with SAH first hand but I am however a big part of it with Jim. Your outlook is so uplifting and I and Jim both totally agree that it is hard to not live with this everyday without thinking about it but it is also very true that we are all alive and in being alive it is important to live life. We have looked at so many different aspects of our lives and believe we do see them different. Live for each day you feel good and keep the positive thoughts. God Bless You! Cal XXX
  14. Hi, Hope all had a good day. Thank you all for your respones on my previous posts. Jim is doing better today. Slept alot but that is what he needs. His neck is very stiff. Have anyone experienced this? Also he has been on Keppra which is a genetic name for Levetiracetam for 8 weeks. Jim is now on the final week of taking 1 a day. He started with 2 tabs twice a day for 6 weeks, then 1 tab twice a day for a week and now is taking 1 tab a day for the next week. Has anyone taken this drug and if so for how long. It is a drug that is used to treat seizure disorders. Stay well. Cal XXXX
  15. Hi, Jim had a tough day today. When I was at work yesterday for a few hours he felt really well and decided he was able to do a few things. After over doing it yesterday he is very tired today and says his legs feel like lead. He wanted me to ask how long it was before you went back to work and also if in the beginning there were restrictions for you to return. We did not receive a lot of information when we left the hospital, which as we try to cope with this event in our lives we feel somewhat concerned with. My thinking is that it would be wonderful if there was some type of booklet that they give you when you suffer from SAH so you could read it and it would help you understand what you are going through. We were more or less wheeled to the hospital entrance and put in the car and said "Good Luck" Take care, Cal XXXX
  16. Thanks to you all for your responses. This site has helped Jim and I so much because of all of you. Laura, I hope all goes well with your tests. I follow you each day. Stay well, you are all in my heart! Cal XXX
  17. Hi, Jim asked me to ask a few questions for him, so here goes..... Do you remember what you were doing when the SAH occured? Did you feel a pop in the back of your head? Did any of you have a drain that made the blood disolve? How long were you in the hospital? How long do the headaches last? We both know that everyone is different but we would like to hear your experiences to see if anyone has gone or is going through the same issues that Jim is having. Thanks and take care, Cal XXX
  18. Hi Laura, I am new to this site. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Good luck! XXX Cal
  19. Andy, Thank you so much for your response. Jim woke up today for the first time in 7 weeks without a headache. YAHOO!!!! Are you back to work and feeling like you did before your SAH? Jim's work is physical he is a head electrician at a rehab hospital and he is unsure if he will ever be able to do the things he did before. I am sure for each peron it is different but he wanted me to ask you how you have coped. XXX OOO Cal
  20. Hi Andy, I am a bit confused (since this is all new to us). If there was an aneurysm then it should have shown up on the angio correct? Thanks so much for your reponse and I hope you are doing well. XXX Cal
  21. My husband suffered an sah 7 weeks ago. He had 2 angiograms which both showed negative for an aneurysm. Would the blood that was in his brain hide the anyeurysm? My thought is if it was there they must have seen it. They stated after the first angiogram that they were 97% sure he did not have one. After the second on they said they were 99% sure. It has been a tough time for him and I am so glad that I found this site. Thank you all for sharing your information. Cal
