  2. Hi Thank you, you lot are soooo supportive thank-you. Well lumbar puncture done later than expected but its done, the nurse hit a nerve in my right foot it sent electric shock to my toes VERY strange feeling she did say it may happen the anaesthetic was soooooooo painful straight through to my belly button..the nurse kept saying yes yes thats it:shock:. Neil bless was holding my hand and half way through he went a very yukky pail/grey colour panic! he looked awful bless him i was thinking if he passes out what will we do...he didnt thankgoodness...he was brave he hates needles and blood:redface: Electric shock to my toes heel and calf of my right leg as the needle came out again weird sensation. I was supposed to come home with a script for amytriptalene but alas it wasnt written out....now theres a surprise....home and lots of rest. we had a terrible time trying to get the secretary of neurologist to fax a letter telling my gp to prescribe amytryptaline by friday YES friday she had faxed it through i later found out that the neurologist has now gone on leave for two weeks and so has my gp not together i dont think:lol: and the only pain relief i had was a day of codeine but was told to take pregabalin which caused a reaction last time but i had no choice and the weekend was horrible ii had the same reaction to pregabalin so went on codiene that i had left, i couldnt hold my head up despite drinking loads....it set off my other pains so was laid out most of the time unable to move or open my eyes nothing took it off. Monday came still in pain off to the doc and the locum wrote out a months supply of codeine and to increase my amytriptaline to 20mg after a week. PHEW!!! Why oh why couldnt my gp just give me them last week.....my mum was so upset when she saw me she cried...I dont like to see her upset and worried.....even though i had all the pain i am so glad i am here and alive and taking each day as it comes and have the help and support from my family and you guys...sorry for such a rambled posting and sorry for sounding a bit pathetic sometimes my life seems so complicated. I think i have gone on enough, thanks for reading. Love luck and laughter Michelle c
  3. Hi Rod I too had lots of problems with my hearing everything was really loud and so uncomfortable all noises where very loud and i had to be moved to the far end of a ward in a room on my own i also have high b/p. They did an hearing test during the first year of my SAH/stroke and didnt say alot about until last year when i went back in for re-coiling and they did another hearing test...probably like you said giving the brain time to heal. Anyway they found i have high pitched hearing loss due to the "massive" (their words) bleed i had which means i have the same hearing as a lot older person;-). I have trouble in large places because of the sound, anyway i now have bilateral hearing aids my left is slightly worse than my right ear. I used to miss conversations and watching tv was terrrible because i missed more.....sorry for going on...what i miss are consonants in words/conversations the digital hearing aids are marvellous i did think the doc had the wrong patient notes when he said i need them but hey what a difference and no-one can see them they are so small...they automatically turn the volume down in a crowded room/noisey place. I know this not what you want to hear and hopefully Merrill's may calm down and prove to be ok due to healing, Does she have tinnitus...i didnt realise i had it cos i just got used to it. Hope this helps in some way. Love Michelle c xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  4. Hi Dianne Well Sam, Tina and Janet have said it all take care and both of you rest up take each day at a time, you both have been through a very emotional time please look after yourself, good luck to both of you tomorrow, sending love and hugs. Lovce luck and laughter MIchelle cxxxxxxxxxx
  5. Thanks, Penny. Janet. Rod and Tina, It is all very confusing....i think they are 10mg dose and they said only to take them at night so will see tomorrow...when i have had the lumbar puncture tomorrow they are giving the script for tablets. Michelle c xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  6. Thanks for the links Jant, I was never like this before my SAH/stroke i know where i want to walk and as neil says i alway take a slight detour!!. I always feel like my consultant thinks that they have "sorted" their bit of us and they are not so interested with anything else. He even said yesterday that he thought i had an illness that causes deafness and it isnt that....what....i have deafness due to the sah...gggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. as was confirmed by hearing services.... 7. Hi:-D I had a letter from my neurologist with the results on my scan for head neck and spine so here goes. I have a hypointensity of the left ocipito temporal region not produced on imaging before and is felt to be an artefact..i asked what this was he said a smudge????? The spine show some high T2 signal in the midline dorsal aspect of the cord extending from C5 to C7 and reappears at C3 it dosnt extend cranially. The posibility of a syrinx was raised included in the differential would be B12 deficiency, inflammatory disease or copper dificiency. This still does not explain her symptoms and wouldlike to send her for a lumbar puncture. I have found out by trawling the net that a Syrinx is a fluid filled cavity or cyst. I asked him yesterday he said it is a long line of fluid in the spinal cord which may cause my numbness and tingling in legs and arms etc, but didnt explainfurther. I have read that this could be Syringamyelia on the net but i didnt want to tell him that...i also mentioned about the pain he is going to give me Amytriptamine (spelling) for the nerve pain, has anyone had these??? I have been tested for B12 and copper a couple of months ago and found nothing wrong. I know its a very long posting and i hope i havnt caused any problems or upset by posting this but i wondered what anyone thought???? Thanks Michelle c xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  8. Hi:-D and welcome to the family. Your husband sounds like he is stable and doing pretty well, so as others have said try not to worry too much, hard i know. Take each day as it comes and try and find a little space for yourself sometime, because we are the one going through the SAH we sometimes dont realise how it effects our loved one and can be megga grumpy by the end of the day;-). Sending love and hugs to you and your family, take care Love luck and laughter Michelle c xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  9. Hi:-D So happy that you have an appointment. You are noway selfish, you are both doing really well it is frustrating not being able to do the things Gray was used to doing, i am slowly learning that if i want to do something even if its something like baking a cake which it used to come naturally before, now i have to plan it and re-read and re-read the recipe and sometimes still miss something out:roll: but i know its the way my brain is working at the moment and as i said to my mum today....my batteries have ran out again!...bless her she thought i meant my hearing aids batteries:lol:. Thanks Lyn for answering about Grays absences, they are quite scary but you are doing the right thing by reassuring him that he is ok and where he is and whats happened i know i feel calm and safe afterwards. Take care sending love and hugs Michelle c xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  10. Hi Rod, Where did you get your pillow from for Merril i can't seem to find one in Argos??? am i missing it somewhere, i had one before from argos but its gone a bit lumpy:lol:. Thanks Michelle c
  11. Hello Lyn and Gray, Thank you for sharing you story as Tina says councelling may help, i have seen a neurophsycologist and she was lovely i felt safe and i felt like she was actually listening:-D i hope you get your appointment soon. Reading how Grays brain train track works it sounds just like mine especially when i start a conversation or ask a question i cannot find the words to carry on or i even ask then what i had asked in the first place Can i ask about the absences i have started having those quite a few at nightime is he on any tablets and how long do they last? Please keep posting we are all here to help and support you both, take care and sending love and hugs Love luck and laughter Michelle c xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  15. Hi Celia:-D I have coils 11 of them now as i had to have 3 more added sept 08 due to the coils uncurling and causing anni to fill up again..i will say this though i know i have bare coils and covered coils sorry dont know much about what they are covered in or not as the case may be but i do know the radiographer said he would use different coils but never said which he used first. As everyone has said the recovery is about the same...i just have added problems due to having stroke during 1st coiling. Hope everything goes well take care. Love luck and laughter Michelle c
  16. Hi Sorry just caight up with your post. You are not along on this one my neuro consultant is just the same very dismissive and i "dont follow the text book" but i am sorry....i didnt think i needed to too....so much lack of information and help he has passed me onto a neurologist and up to press the first meeting he was telling us that we could get an second opinion if we liked ggggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr who do they think they are...he certainly didnt give us a good impression and we came out shattered and battered...the only person that seems to listen at all was the neuropsychologist and listening certainly does help...so here we are giving him a chance as Neil (hubby) puts it and then we shall see.....it makes me really angry that just because some of us dont fit the right size box they can't help of dont know what to do....keep up the fight one and all!!!! Sorry for ranting ...off my soap box now. Melbury do keep posting and sending you both love and hugs, take care. Love Michelle c xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  17. Hi Karen Yes i signed up for it , i thought why not but as you said i would have signed to go to the moon...especially as i thought i was in a very exclusive hotel and everyone seems to come to visit you there:lol: and its true:crazy: I had a couple of blood test:crazy: and an extra MRI but they couldnt carry it on because i had to be recoiled...interesting thought though....i have bare and covered coils in i know that much because he was going to put in the opposite to what i have in...if it makes any sense:roll: Look forward to your notes on this thread. Love luck and laughter Michelle x

  21. Hi Tammy, So glad Neil is doing well. My daughter witnessed the whole thing, i was on the school playground doing a swoppsy for another teaching assistant. I could see her come running towards me just at the moment i needed to lean on the fence...she was quite traumatised at first...she will talk about it and always has done which is a relief...she actually laughs now and she calls it the"pouring the coffee all over my shoes incident which is what happend just before i slid down the fence!! im just glad my lttle boy didnt see i had just taken him to nursery that day and they were just about to come out for playtime. talking of emotions...my Neil (hubby) is way more sensitive than before my SAH/stroke and will get quite tearey watching somethingon TV..he will talk about it sometimes and always tell me how lucky i was to survive and how well i am doing which helps on my "dark days" Nice to see you posting, take care. Love luck and laughter Michelle c
  22. Hi Rod, Try not to worry too much, i was and sometimes are quite shakey i notice the more tired i get the more hand/body shakey i get as for the giggles i was exactly the same, Merril is still early in recovery, as we all are i suppose...i know when my consult used to say "its early days" i used to get fed up of hearing it but in my heart of hearts i knew he was right. Hope i have been some help, you take care Love Michelle c xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  24. Hi Debbie Thats brilliant new and wow they are on the ball, now you can relax (i know easier said than done) at bit now and enjoy your holiday. Take care Love luck and laughter Michelle c xxxxxx
  25. Hi All, Thanks your all your kind posts. Well the appointment went ok i think, she was quite nice and she made me feel safe and relaxed, she asked what my most worries were, which i told her about the pain in my arms, hands etc. Neil added that i didnt want my arms 'going' the same way as my leg...then ono my memory, concentration etc. I told her i was totally shattered and having a conversation like this is how i am...she did a lot of note taking....as a result of concentration and tiredness i started as i do stuttering, forgetting what she had asked me and i couldnt remember what i was talking about at one point and also my problem of not finding the correct word i wanted. Like Neil says at least she saw you as you are. After a very long 1 hour appoinment she did say that with everything and all the test i have going on at the moment she thought it was best to leave it until i have seen my neurologist and had the results of all other tests, so i was happy with that and spent the rest of the afternoon flat out, and totally shattered. Hey one other thing.......she knew of our website...I mentioned it and she was so pleased she said she knew of the forum and complimented all the hard you all do and the support it gives to all of us here:-D:-D:-D:-D. Love luck and laughter Michellexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
