Hi I am new to this site. Had a hemmorage 6 days after my 48th birthday in January 2005. This was after a back fusion operation at the Bupa Hospital in Southampton. I ended up in Southampton Neurological for a few weeks and was then transferred to Poole Hospital for six weeks for rehabilitation which as you all know is hard work and you think you are never going to walk etc again. From that night my life changed dramatically and I have been in constant pain in my head since, although they think that there is nothing wrong which is a good sign, so guess I just have to get on with my life like this. It is good to put all this on a site where you all understand. Anyway wont bore you with any more about me. Glad I found you all. x

Welcome Harvey,

Don't worry about us as you'll find out we SAHer's have a low boredom threshold anyway!! Welcome to the "family".

You couldn't of been in a better place than the Wessex Neuro, that's where I was moved to from Basingstoke A&E. In fact now I have been treated on every floor of that particular establishment!

Again welcome, and I look forward to hearing more from you.

Scott

Hi Harvey,

I'm fairly new to this site (as a member) myself, though I had been watching from its birth.

Welcome :D ... Its really friendly here, I feel like "I've come home" and regret not joining sooner. I do belong to a stroke support group, but most of the members have had a stroke caused by a clot so I've always felt a little left out.

You don't have to put up with pain, can your GP or specialist refer you to a Pain Clinic??

You got lucky (I usually drone and drone), I'm just on my way out to my stroke group (Different Strokes) for our weekly exercise session, in my new keep (get) fit outfit :D

Have A Lovely Weekend

Welcome to the site in fact welcome to another room in your home. It is friendly and homely here and you can be as happy, sad, feeling rough or good. Just nice to talk with people who won't judge you or laugh at you if you are having a bad day.

Take care,

Molly

Hi everyone. Thanks very much for all the responses to my first posting the other day. It was good to hear from you all, and that you are the first people in my life that understand me! Not quite sure how to use the site and how to join in all the discussions etc, perhaps I will learn in time. x

Hi Harvey

Welcome to the site, don't worry it does take a while to get used to it. I used to be shattered initially when I was online. Now its a lot better. Take it easy and we looking forward to hearing from you.

Welcome, Harvey -- and ditto to what others have said. There are pain solutions around, and we've all had experience with different medication regimes before hitting on ones that work. Enjoy having a mosey around the site, and you'll find lots of good company and a big warm welcome here. Joan

It is nice to meet you. I am pretty new to the site too but, everyone is so awesome here! I ruptured 7/05 and still in recovery!! It is so helpful to have people to talk to and everyone here is so cool!! They are all very encouraging and have a great sence of humor!! :D

I agree you need to get pain management of some kind.

I go to a "General Practioner" who has a lot of "vascular patients, such as us, strokes, heart... He has helped me with my headaches and other symptoms so much! I try to stay away from narcotics due to the rebound headaches, already been there!! It took my Dr. a few tries with diff, med's until he found the right combo for me!! There is help out there hun! I found my own NS and G.P, sometimes you have to take charge and be an advocate for your own health. If I had not found my NS, I prob. wouldn't be here!!

I use to be a firfighter, I can relate to the major lifestyle changes!! It is hard but, it can get better hun! We just have to work hard at it and find the right Dr's!!

You can come talk about anything you want!! We all know how you feel!! I can relate with the headaches... Take care hun and hope you get some help soon! I will be keeping you in my prayers!! Tricia

Hi Harvey!

I'm also new to the site..but I'd like to send out a warm welcome to you also.

Probably, like yourself I'm still sifting my way through posts .. getting to know others and their stories.

I've already chatted to some lovely people on msn and everyone here seems so lovely.

I feel so at home..and I hope you do too.

Re your headaches..I had my SAH dec 05. I still get headaches although they have eased considerably. I often wonder what it would be like to just have "a normal headache" because I've kind of forgotten what that is!! I still take codeine & paracetomol .. although I take a lot less daily, than I did. Due to codeine being opium based .. this can cause analgesic headaches..and I always feel that my headaches are worse in the mornings (however that's due me having had "withdrawal syptoms" from it! I've also tried the menthol rub 4head and my friend, who is a homeopathic nurse gave me stuff to try! ALL in all I'm getting there.. and I hope that you do to..but I feel your pain (literally)!! I kind of think that I'll always have a headache! But then I remember how bad they were and they are not nearly as bad as that now.

If you find out anything else that helps your headaches re pain clinics etc..please do let us know. I do hope you start to feel better soon. At least here, we all all understand each other and I think that's a great help to us all.

Meanwhile.. sorry for rabbling on.. take care & enjoy the site.
