  2. I have found that coffee gives me a headache now???
  3. In reply to Surfer34, i'm no Doctor but.....I believe all such tests come under the umbrella of angiography. Depending on what sort of angiogram you have will depend on what the consultant is looking for. By far the most detailed is an MRA (I) The MRI scan uses magnetic and radio waves, meaning that there is no exposure to X-rays or any other damaging forms of radiation. It is used for ultra fine tissue recognition. Ct angiograms use what is considered as non radioactive(less than a wristwatch) exposure, There are two types, one using dye (fluids in a CTa are also considered a low risk substance) and the other without. Ct scans are considered the first step. There is always a slight chance of cancer from excessive exposure to radiation. However, the benefit of an accurate diagnosis far outweighs the risk. There is a further type of angiogram (of which i'm sure most of us are aware) and that is a femoral angiogram. Again this can be used with or without dye. Vicky, as scarey as it may be, just remember that it's scans like these that have saved our lives (as well as the damned fine health care staff.
  4. Hey Sally, can you not take the partial sight driving test? A friend of mine only has one eye after an accident and he now drives.
  5. The CT finding that defines perimesencephalic NASAH (PM-NASAH) is blood isolated to the perimesencephalic cisterns anterior to the brainstem;
  6. Get in there Lynne, just be careful (as i'm sure you are) not to get to complacent. I recently had a wobble day and the doc told me to remember what had happened to me only 10 months before. London marathon next as well............................JOKING !
  7. Hi Vicky, You will find that a lot of people on BTG had their anni's misdiagnosed, me included. You are here though and sounding very positive, that is the way to go. You will find a mountain of knowledge on here and don't forget to ask questions, the answer is out there somewhere. Welcome to BTG.
  8. Hi There, I've been to several films now and it was a bit odd at first but now it is ok. BUT I went to a 3D film and couldn't tell the difference (yes i had my glasses on ). Sharon said it was great but i really couldn't tell you !!!
  9. Hi Karen, dissection of the Vertebral artery, male, 45, stents fitted
  10. Hey surfer 34, not much info on what you've had done but PM me.
  11. Great news Neil, Nice to have some good news for a change....
  12. Hi Kelbel, Glad everything went well. I'm off for my 6 month MRA this afternoon. Fingers crossed.
  13. Anne you are a star. It is so good to hear that you are "normal";-) , we all tend to concentrate on the negatives and lose sight of what we can or have achieved. You sound very well and happy, good luck to you
  14. Hi there, When i had my Cerebral Angiogram Procedure, the surgeon went through the right groin. Don't know why you were told that both sides would be done?
  15. Hi Donna, I'm with Kelvz48, don't really get headaches just funny fuzzies. Most of the time it's just a feeling that i've got used too but every now and again I have a ten minute "turn". I had headaches for about a month after my op, so two months after my SAH but i don't know what your problem was. Mine wasn't a anni, so it may be different. Stick with it, by the sound of it you are very early in recovery.
  16. Evening all, Just a quick question. Has anyone tried to claim under a living cover( critical illness) policy after their SAH? If so, how did it go?
  17. Anne just had too reply. After what has been happening too you lately, you deserve a good cry. Things just seem to be getting on top of you and you have to release the stress somehow. I don't know if it is to do with the SAH but for the first couple of months i cried at anything (which is very unlike me), some things that never got to me before make me well up now, it makes my girlfriend laugh and then i laugh and it passes. I know that you are way down the road in your recovery but who knows what has changed for the good or bad. Everyone has too find a way of dealing with things, better crying than punching !!!! Don't take it out on yourself, give yourself a break.
  18. I think that one number is pressure out and one is pressure returning? Sounds good to me.
  19. Hi Tina, What type of SAH did you have? I only had follow up MRI's to make sure that my Stents were in the correct position and were working as expected. Enjoy work, take it nice and easy. I have only just gone back and boy was i tired;-)
  20. Hi Diane, Can I just say, Happy 1st year to your husband. I have always described my SAH as if someone had stabbed me, it certainly wasnt a bang. Maybe it is different because of your husbands bleed (venous), mine was arterial. I still struggle to tell people of how my head feels, fuzzy, cotton wollie, on fire is always a good one(although it does scare the girlfriend). Of course an SAH can happen when your asleep, It can happen at anytime. That is what makes them so life threatening, some people get symptoms before it happens (just like a stroke), some people get the stab or bang, some people on here don't even know what happened (and are grateful). I would suggest a trip to your GP, to discuss his issues. You can never be too careful. You have probably done this already as you are a nurse but it needs to be done.
  21. Hi Tracey, i would be straight to the doctors. Better safe....
  22. Hi Stacey, Welcome to the site. I'm so sorry for your loss, being a member of this site has helped me so much. We are the lucky ones but both ourselves and our families know that it could've been so very different. Please talk to us if you need to, you will find lots of good strong shoulders. Best wishes Gary
  23. Hi Marilyn, Welcome to BTG. You have come to the right place for both your Mums support and for YOURS! Don't forget that you are going through a lot as well and although you are not feeling the physical limitations, you are feeling the pressures of having to adapt. Time, Time and more time, thats what is needed. My best wishes to your Mum and Dad, don't forget to take care of yourself. Gary
  24. Hey Donnamarie, As John said, it really must depend on each individual case. All you have to do is read what everyone else has been through on here and although we are the "same", we are far from "uniform". I had a scan at the two month mark , mine was just to check that my stents were ok and performing correctly. Please don't stress, it is just not worth it.
  25. Hey you, First of all, CONGRATULATIONS ! You have managed to stay in the same job as before your SAH. I'm sure that it is not by "winging it" ! It is because you are good at your job and your "lovely" brain, knows what it is doing. Isn't it funny how one person out of many can cause a stink? It appears that you have some good colleagues and most probably very good friends, do they know what is happening? If not, they should ! The new "Boss" sounds like a charmer. What ever you do, don't let him wind you up. You know that it's not good for you and you certainly don't want to give him the satisfaction. I have been worried about what i may have forgotten, for when i go back to work and have told my family, friends and my work mates. As long as i have someone that believes.................Who can stop me???? I wish you all the best........." we are here, believing"
