Hi, this sounds like another case of a GP not understanding what is going on. How many formal angio's have you had? I had three in two weeks including the one where i had stents put in. My consultant explained to me about how the artery heals and said nothing about "too many times" ! I would be asking for a second opinion from another GP and if you are still not happy go to your nearest A&E. I know that this sounds like over kill and you may feel that you are wasting their time BUT just remember what you have been through and all the possible complications. GP's had me walking a mile to their surgery for three days before one had the idea that i might not "just have a migraine". I could be dead, get a second opinion, please. All my F angio's where with me laying totally flat, my last one (for the stents), they even put a strap over my head to make sure that i didn't move.

Maggie, you say that we should be able to draw on what we have paid in but it's all a con. I will never be entitled to any form of benefit because i have a small navy pension. For every pound of my pension i lose a pound of benefit. It is an absolute disgrace, i have served my country for 23 years to be let down badly. This ESA is just another way of fudging statistics....

Thanks Alan, it may not appear to Erin that any improvement has been made but it really sounds as though a lot has happened. Years ago, i had a knee op and loss so much strength in my leg. It was all down to not using the muscle, it is surprising how quickly muscle deteriorates. Erin sounds as though she is doing really well and i'm another one that hopes she will be able to update us personally very soon. She also sounds very lucky to have a caring person around that is willing to help her through this, you don't feel the pain but boy do you carers go through it.Well done and please keep up the good work and don't forget to look after yourself as well. Thanks to all, i know what they are but i'm with Maggie. Sometimes people mix up the different scans and it gets confusing. Especially when they are asking a question.

This might sound a bit pedantic but recently several posts have been a bit confusing to me.:confused: When somebody mentions an angio, are they meaning a CTa or a Formal Angio? Some posts have even crossed between an angio and then mentioned not liking the noise an MRI makes. My take on these scans are: CT= light scan of head/neck, no dye. CTangio= light scan of head / neck with dye. Formal Angio= Scan of head /neck via groin or neck, with or without dye MRI= scan of head / neck / body using magnetic pulses (the noisey one) Is this right???:confused: It might sound odd but it gets confusing when reading or answering a post, OR is it just me being a duffer.????:lol:

Hi Paris, I had my SAH in may of this year. I had stents fitted and recently had a follow up MRI scan. I was told by my consultant that if everything was ok on this scan, i would then be put under the care of my GP.

Sonia you are so brave to let us know this, especially when it has all happened so fast. On the plus side, they have caught it soooo early and have made a quick decision. Hi Sally, Sorry to here that you seem to be having a hard time just now. Unfortunately i can't help with the benifits as i'm not entitled to anything as i have a small Navy pension. Try not to stress about the follow up scans, although it does appear that you may have to ask your GP/ Cons if any are needed. Hopefully not and everything is ok. On the bright side, your one year on......HOORAH ! As for reading mumbo jumbo, thats what we are all about, aren't we? Take care and chin up.

Hi Jill, When you say a pulsing sensation, can you feel your heart beating or is it a banging? The reason that i ask is because before i had my SAH, i went to Cardiology because of a feeling very similar to these. I was put through a battery of tests but never got the official results, as i had my SAH. I used to feel it more at night when everything was still and i could feel my "head" beating! Sometimes, i would be sitting reading or the like and have a very strong beat in my head, that fazed me out for a second or two. Excuse the pun but " ring any bells"?

OMG.... Yet another possible mis-diagnosis. Theres no wonder that so many people never make it to hospital. My consultant told me that if i suffer any more headaches like i did on the night of my SAH, to get straight to A&E and tell them. I hope that you are feeling better.

Hi Bagpuss, to be fair I've never been a good sleeper. Tried lots of things but i don't like tablets and the like. Now that i've started to do a bit of exercise, hopefully it will get better.

Hi there, By law, we are not allowed to drive for the first 4 weeks. However if you feel upto it, there is a pre-worded letter that you can take to your doctor. It is then up to them, if they allow you to drive or not. Meanwhile the DVLA keep investigating your case. I'm thinking of doing this but will give the DVLA Medical Group a bell first. Don't forget to tell your insurer !!!! HOWEVER, it does sound like your doctor wouldn't allow you to anyway because of your vision.

Hi Laanka, Are you having a follow up "Angio" or a "CTa"?:confused: I've got a CTa on Sunday along with an MRI. For a CTa, they put a vent in your arm and push the dye through that. As for the MRI, i just pretend i'm listening to close encounters of the 3rd kind........................

Hi to both, I have to take asprin because of my stents. I took clopidogrel for 30 days and am on Asprin 75mg for ever. My dissection was at the junction of two arteries, so the blood thinner is to make sure the mesh of the stents doesn't clog.

Hi there everyone, Is it just me or has anyone else experienced bruising after their SAH. I have never easily bruised before but lately " i bruise like a peach" (according to my girlfriend). Could this be down to blood thinners? I am now only taking aspirin but this has got to have some effect, hasn't it?

Hi Vonk, first of all let me say, sorry for your loss. You do not say what kind of SAH it was, there are several different kinds. Some do not need the drain at all, mine certainly didn't. I am no expert but surely the best person to see would be the consultant in charge of your mothers case. Then you can ask all the relevent questions as to why "you" think that it took to long to put the drain in place. My thoughts are with you.

Hi Leonie, I had never suffered with headaches until my event, i get major headaches at the moment but i'm putting that down to people playing about inside my head. I hope your symptoms clear.
