  1. Hi Cattolica :)

A very warm welcome to BTG !

As DigglyDog says above, you will find lots of helpful information and support here.

Please find the link  below to A Letter From Your Brain:

Six months is very early in your recovery. Please dont rush back to work when you are feeling like this, bless you xx  Can you get a letter from your Doctor? If you search Back to Work threads, others recommend you go back gradually on a phased return. Your brain is trying to mend as well as functioning normally. If you push too hard to soon, it can cause brain overload.

If it helps, get family and friends to come onto the Forum so they understand what you are going through. It is so hard when you look ok on the outside, i do feel for you, we have all been tthere.

If  only they could walk in your shoes just for one day !!

For more response from others  you could post in the Introduce yourself section :

We look forward to hearing more from you and how you are doing xx

Feel free to join us in the Green Room for daily banter :

Wishing you well with your ongoing recovery.

  2. Hi June :)

Sorry you are now suffering with heal and toe pain when you walk, sounds very uncomfortable.

Your anxiety could be intensified by these new symptoms, bless you. I know you have your appointment with your Neurologist in June, but have you been to see your GP? They may be able to up your antidepressants if needed and also help with your pain.

Sometimes i have found in my recovery, you can go one step forward two steps back. It is very frustrating at the time and does get you down. Things will get better, i just takes time.

Hopefully the Neuro appointment will give you some answers and help. In the mean time if you haven't already, i would try and get to see or speak with your GP. Maybe consider counselling, i found it very helpful to talk to someone when i felt down and frustrated.

At 4 months i still had bad head, neck pain, double vision, balance problems and extreme fatigue.

Take care, remember it is very early days in your recovery, be kind to yourself.

  4. Hi Karen a very warm welcome to BTG :)

So sorry you had such a nasty fall and bleed on the brain, bless you, glad you got to hospital quickly. Sounds like you are doing well in your recovery. We all recover differently, some quickly some slowly. Great your headaches are less frequent. Taking naps will really help and also drinking lots of water.

The anxiety is very normal, you have been through a major trauma. It will get better over time. I could not go out at all for quite some time on my own. I did it gradually, you will get there :) . Its very early days, you have had a horrible scary shock. Sometimes others will never understand what you are going through. Dont let that upset you xx

Keep doing what you are doing and know that we are here for you, even the slightest worry. We empathise and totally get how you are feeling xx

Take care and keep in touch,

    Tina xx

  5. Hi Helena :)

A very warm welcome to BTG.

So sorry to hear about your Mum, but great news she has woken up and speaking (tracheotomy). Two months is very very early in her recovery. It is normal for her memory to be all over the place at this stage also confusion and anxiety.  So scary for her to wake up with all the tubes etc. It is a very worrying stressful time for you all.

I'm sure the nurses are keeping her well hydrated, this also helps in everyway. I did not have a shunt fitted but i believe it can take time to settle. Some shunts can be adjusted,  maybe this is what your Mum needs, dont know if this is the type your Mum has? I'm sure the Consultants will be keeping a close eye on her.

Keep in touch, wishing your Mum well with her recovery.

    Take care

    Tina xx

  6. Hi Debbie :)

Great to hear you are doing really well

I can certainly relate to feeling more overwhelmed than before being around alot of people and over stimulation.

With regards to your blood pressure going up, it could be due to you feeling anxious. If you haven't already, i would mention this to your GP. They may be able to help you.

1.5 years is still early in your recovery, be proud of how well you are doing xx

    Take care

    Keep in touch

    Love Tina xx

  7. Hello :)

A very warm welcome to BTG. So sorry to hear about your Mom.

Like Jean i also was very grateful for my family speaking on my behalf. I would personally make an appointment to see her Consultant. Write down all your questions and worries so you can hopefully get some answers and know the way forward. So very frustrating and worrying for you and your brother.

Good to hear you have demanded a translator. This will make your Mom understand so much better what is going on. Very stressful and scary for her, also for you xx

I really hope you get some answers and help for your Mom.

Please keep us updated and remember to take care of you xx

    Thinking of you

  8. Hi June :)

Just thought i would mention, in the early stages if my husband took me out to the supermarket or any shop, i remember the lights really made me feel dizzy and sick. I always wore sunglasses after that. It really helped even though it made me feel like i was posing  :D

    Take care and go steady

  9. Hi June :)

A very warm welcome to BTG.

I think it is your brain telling you to slow down. It should improve with time. Like Jess i also still get this if i over do it, or push myself too hard. Sometimes it happens if just sitting doing nothing. Your brain has been through a major trauma and you are still in the very early stages of your recovery.

Pace yourself and listen to your body. Also drinking lots of water really does help.

Sounds like you have doing really well so early, well done you :)

If it does continue with no let up, as Jess says go back and see your Consultant/GP for peace of mind.

Take care and let us know how you are doing.

Whelp, it is me again. I was doing great and exercising every day (weight lifting and walking at least an hour). Things were going well and I was losing weight. About a week ago, I started to feel what I describe as stroke-y again - hard to concentrate, otherworldly feeling, shorter fuse, fatigue, tough to look at computers/phone.

Anyone have ideas for recovery or has anyone else been through this? I am also trying to go off Paxil, which I have been on since I had my girls 17 years ago. Needless to say, a lot is going on and any advice would be wonderful. Thanks to everyone on this forum - you are all inspiring and awesome.

    Hi E :)

So sorry to hear you are feeling stroke-y again. It may just be you are pushing too hard and your body telling you to slow down. Or maybe because your are trying to go off Paxil.

If you continue to feel this way definitely go and see your Doctor, just for peace of mind.

Wishing you well, please keep us updated on how you are doing.

    Take care
