  1. Linda, Congrats! Thats what we are all here for. It is so reassuring to know we are all in the same boat. Take care Laura
  2. Anne, I had my SAH in Sept 2006 and went back to work on phased return after Christmas and succeeded until October, then hit rock bottom and have been off ever since. You really need to lkisten to your body and that is something I failed to do. I went to school as a teacher with headaches and bluriness etc and eventually got myself to the doctor for him to keep me off. Once my symptoms are sorted I will go back on phased return again but this time if teaching proves too much I will wither consider part time or a different career, sad I know but as everyone keeps saying my health is more important. I think it not only depends on how you feel but also what kind of job you do and what kind of support work will give you when and if you return. Take care Laura
  3. Hi Karen, Welcome to this wonderful site. There is always someone around to help and give advice. You are really early in your recovery so take care and get as much love and support as you can from family and friends. Take care Laura xx
  4. Anne, Mine was on the right side too and I find at different times of the day but not all the time I get like a whistling in my ear. It comes and goes but is not at the same time each day so is quite weird. I haven't mentioned it to the neurologist as I was one of my smaller problems. I haven't been to the cinema since my SAH so I can't help with that. I always fell asleep at the cinema so thought no point in wasting my money Hope this helps although it probably doesn't help you with your problems Laura xx
  5. Hi Nita, Sorry to hear you are feeling so down. You need to think what you can do as you really don't need any extra stress whilst you are trying to recover. If you want please chat please pm, by the way I have added you as a friend on facebook. Take care Laura xx
  6. Hi Ann, Welcome to this wonderful site. we are all super friendly and you can ask anything and someone will have an idea. Take care and keep us in touch Laura xx
  7. Katie, I feel so sorry for you, I could just feel your hurt/ upset and anxiety from reading your message. I agree with Karen in the fact that if you don't want to go to the hospital today, then don't- you deserve a break too! It is very different circumstance wise but sort of along the same lines, my mum broke her arm in June 2006, then I had my SAH in September and she has been depressed since June. She went through a period as well of saying she was going to commit suicide. I got very annoyed with myself at first thinking that I was not helping but then also thought she was being selfish, but I said it from the other way I was the one that had had the SAH not her so if I was coping (sort of!) then she needed to try. She didn't want no antidepressants or counselling or anything and now still 18 months on we are in the same position. So I can certainly sympathethise with you. Have you sisters/ brothers Katie that also feel the same? Where abouts in the country are you? We will all listen Katie and offer as much supportas we can Laura xx
  8. Hi Erbowman and welcome this fantastic site. Yes I had similar symptoms too but unlike you mine was misdiagnosed and I treated for different things before finding out exactly what it was. Hopefully they have caught yours and you will recieve the treatment you need quickly and then be monitored and cared for. Let us know how you get on and good luck. My thoughts are with you. Laura xx
  9. Hi Anne, Welcome to the site. It's a fab place to be! After my SAH, I was fine was eating most foods. I more went through fads on eating certain foods all the time, a bit like a craving. I also agree with Louise I'm quite funny with meat and its smell and then even if I'm told it smells ok, I then start looking at the colour of it to check it looks ok. Laura xx
  10. Thanks Keith and Sami, yeah I must say it was quite frightening when I saw the spark before my eyes and yeah I agree Sami they are quite painful. At least I know now I am not going totally mad Laura xx
  11. John, I've had a similar thing also at night by where I wake up and can hear my heart beating in my head and then I go dizzy but I thought it was asthma related. It often eases off after a few seconds and if it doesn't it is the dizziness that stays, then I take my inhaler (which often doesn't help either!) Don't know if this helps or not Laura xx
  12. It's just me and you then Sarah, that have noticed it since SAH I rarely got a shock before! At least I don't fell totally mad now Laura xx
  13. A stupid question I know but does anyone else suffer from electric shocks. Since my SAH (well never noticed them before) I give electric shocks to whatever I touch, the cat, tv, stereo anything and lately as well if I touch/ kiss Simon I give him one too. They seem to be getting worse too, there was a sort of spark (which scared us both and made us jump I know people say about their electric lovelife but this is mad! Am I the only nutter!? Laura
  14. Your story was great to read Paul- your sense of humour is brilliant. I agree with Louise that it is super hard for partners too. Take care Laura xx
  15. Hi all, I'm having trouble sleeping and with the stiff neck etc. I was going to buy a new pillow to help. Have read some of the threads on here but can't work out which is best, the chillow pillow or the v pillow. Please can I have your wonderful advice. Thanks Laura

  17. Michael, Welcome to the site, it have been brilliant in helping me with my recovery. All I can say is take it easy and listen to your body, i thought I was recovering really well too but had a setback of headaches, dizziness etc 13 months on. I don't think I listened to my body well so just take extra care. Laura xx
  18. I did the shopping game too! Sometimes now though 18 months on, I still find shopping difficult and pick and choose my days and times to go Laura xx
  19. Aine, I'm reallt sorry I can't remember exactly! I went for a consultants check and MRI scan after about 6 months, a ct angio after 9 months, a consultants appt for results after 12 months. Now having problems again so just ha MRi and awaiting results again. Sorry can't be more help Laura xx
  20. I didn't seem to have dizziness so much when I was first recovering from my SAH but since OctoberI have suffered with dizziness and sort of like drunken stumbling (if you know what I mean) especially if very tired. Am back at consultants on 19th Feb so will mention it to him again Laura xx
  21. Thanks everyone for your replies. Sami- Bought loads of that vitsmart today as we discussed, It worked out cheaper to buy 2 on offer small bottles than 1 large bottle from tesco. I'm keen on the ribena too and also the schloer, I know no aspartane in the ready made ribena but will have to look at the schloer before buying it. I've done well so far today, drunk 2 litres of water and 3 coffees. Anyway off for the vitsmart now Laura xx
  22. I was thinking the same! It sounds like a fab job though and I like the idea of holidays when I fancy! I love my teaching job, just don't like the fact that no let up at all when feels especially worse when feeling under the weather. Laura xx
  23. Sorry to sound really nosey but I last few weeks I have thought hard about my diet and cut and aspartane and caffiene after reading advice on here. Now on thinking about it I remember having to drink at least 3 litres in hospital and I'm now not sure that i'm drinking that amount. Wrote it all down yesterday and did but don't think tat was a normal day! Can you include drinks like decaff coffee or is it just water? I'm confused but after drinking in total about 4 litres yesterday and not waking with a headache I wondered...... Thanks Laura xx
  24. Congratulations and good luck. Look forward to seeing those photos Laura xx
  25. Hi Cal and Jim, I get a stiff neck too especially if tired or headachey Laura xx
