  6. caroline have you tried the rice bag over the affected foot put about 2kgs in a sock or stocking or tight and drape it over the foot and as your sitting in a chair try lifting the foot most affected and do leg lifts start with ten and work up every day when you find it easier add a bit more weight and progress slowly otherwise that leg would end up stronger than the other so work both together hope you dont mind me adding to the list of things to do take care
  7. more than welcome to i have no problem with you passing on the number just hope i can put everyones mind to rest she will have bad days and some very small days of improvement more like one step forwards and half a dozen back now and then will pm you willing to help promise take care and make sure you look after yourself please the trachi will stay in for up to whenever they think your friend dosnt need it do you know the class of sah it would help
  8. hi bessie i am shocked about what has happened to mum but please trust the consultant he would have delt with it believe me kings is one of the best places in london i take it mum is compus mentus otherwise she woudlnt be out of hdu please talk to consultant for reasurance and an explaination as to why this happened someone cocked up is mum aware of what is going on around? her most sufferers of sah are actullay semi reclined to help recovery so the pressure is lessened within the head it seems the nurse will be taken to task as to why and the wherefores as to her actions mums memory will be affected because of the sah as many on here will tell you there are good days and bad but the main thing is mums come through the worst and has come out the other side alive and on her way to recovery i have known kings for a very long time and their record is very good please learn to take one day at a time its going to be very very hard let mum move at her own pace with support from you in repect of pictures and memories i will pm you with mu number call anytime if i can help im a carer i also think i know what you are going through have faith in the consultant talk to him he will help support you through this please take one day at a time rgards to you and mum things can only get better take care hugs and cuddles
  9. adam re your concerns the hospital would have had a superb view of what was going on when you were coiled via angiogram when placing the coils as keith and karen has mentioned ask for a disc with scan 's on that will put your mind at rest the angios are more spot on so please dont worry to much youve done the hard bit enjoy and be happy
  10. hi sandi sorry to hear your being mucked around may i suggest you change your dr if you can there is nothing like being ignored when you need help ring headway they are brillient and will help you no end give me a call anytime you have done the hardest bit and i promise it WILL get better in time so chin up and hold your head high your doing well hugs and cuddles rant as much as you need to sweetheart take care xxxxx
  11. very very good artical karen made very interesting reading will read lots more within the artical
  12. tenaje try not to worry to much i doubt wether your freind is deaf so speak clearly and if she is able to move both or one arm take in a whiteboard with marker so she can write what she wants to say or an letters like the kids do at school so she can talk to you and finding the neuro part of kings is not straight forwards as people think take one day at a time and show the family this site so they can inform themselfs as well and show there is life after sah's take care and try not to rush things it will come right in the end
  13. hi sandie welcome to btg sounds like you really went through the mill like many on here and dont worry about being rushed through the mersey tunnel and i dont think anyone would have complained lol you are now on the road to recovery and thats the best bit show the family this site because they will have questions them selfs and it will inform them that there are many like you and will help them understand how your feeling and the ups and downs you will go though please to realise that you have found us and all your questions will be answered and everyone here will have gone through what you are going through now welcome and good luck in your recovery hugs and cuddles
  14. hi tenaje please dont worry about the trachi it is there to help your friend breathe normally it is there basicly because having an endotrachial tube in which cause's problems in themselfs and they arnt very pretty to look at putting in a trachi enables the staff to maintain her breathing and allows them to suck out any flem or secreations which she produce's a very good thing and better to look at so to speak you didnt say how long since she had her sah but it sounds in the very early days please dont worry my lin had hers for over 6 months before they took it out and i did heal very quickly as the windpipe close's very very quickly once your friend is more aware and stable they will take it out i hope that your managing ok the fact you had an sah then havng to look at a friend who is now suffering please email me or pm me if you want more info anytime the fact she has come this far is good news and being in kings is good couldnt be in a better place as it was my old stomping grounds and one of the best nuero units in the country good luck have just seen you mention that she is being fed by peg again dont worry lins is still in and she's maintaining weight again its something that can be removed when the time is right your friend does need to keep weight on pm me if you need any advice or want to rant or rave
  15. phil just got back your posting has made my day im really chuffed for both sharon and you i really am i just hope and pray that sharon gets the chance to carry on improving my fingers are crossed for you both i send both of you my love and heaps of cuddles take care
  16. hi bobby quite a story you have been through the mill and as normal not a very good aftercare except where family are concerned but the good news is that you WILL be able to play golf again even if its not to the standard you were before but there is nothing to stop you practicing i have the pleasure of knowing someone who was written off due to sah and she is out there every week hitting the balls and she is now consitnatly hitting over thirty five metres and getting the balls into the catch net at a driving range so you go for it you are the only one stopping yourself as for driving depending how badly you are affected it maybe up to a year before you can drive again but there are people here who may be able to advise you more accurately you are doing so well up to now so dont lose heart just thump the golf balls in the garden and once you have broken some windows move on to a driving range and go for it take care
  17. tisha that is the bested news for a very long time and well done to tina time will bring her nearer the time to go home and make a new start with hope i am so very very pleased for you both i really am now you can enjoy your holiday with peace of mind and look forwards to a new and better tina when you get back please enjoy your holiday please relax and enjoy you deserve it hugs and cuddles tisha
  18. hi penny you are right which is a shame but sah are hidden untill they pop up so to speak one thing i have found out is that sah are mostly genetic fault within the brain and it only needs the blood presure to go up high enough before the blood vessel gives way over a period of time the blood vessel becomes weaker or enlarged due to blood presure going up then lowering like blowing up a ballon then letting it down i know there are certain areas which are more prone to enlarge and rupture and if we look on here when yyou look at what area is involved do you get a clearer view as for the outcome that ranges from minor after effects to major if not death and the one thing that stands out is the lack of understanding the complexities of the effect is has on people who suffer which the drs do not understand they just stick it under the stroke umberella which is wrong i will do some more research and come back to you
  19. hi tisha you have made my day such wonderfull news and now i think you WILL see some changes in tina its fantastic news to wake up to i think i know how you feel as well jumping on clouds and hopefully it wont be long before you can get her out into the sunshine in a chair so she can feel the sun on her face maybe slowing down will help you as well learn from tina relax and enjoy dont make her to comfortable in there otherwise she wont want to leave lol the phyiso will work on tina and hopfully things will come on in leaps and bounds who knows? dont worry to much about what has happend to tina you will find the right time to explain what happened in due course the main thing is to get tina up and about for now i bet the two of you were right terrors when you were young as well i wish you well on your mri and that the news will put your mind to rest i really do you are a very brave women to have it done but i also understand why you have as you say one day at a time enjoy having tina around and make the most of it and most importantly be happy and plan to have fun together so from me to both you and tina massive hugs and cuddles and good luck for this afternoon hoping for good news take care love to both tina and your good self
  20. hi anne and louise many nhs staff seem to just put everything into the nice little name of stroke an sah is a traumatic brain injury that lead to a stroke so i think the staff need re educating with a stroke it relates to a lack of movements and some impairement within the brain but an sah does involve the brain in as far as the brain has suffered involving other brain functions which they seem to forget and if you suffer a vasospam this futher involves more intergrated functions like your imune system leading to more risk of infections and the lack of cognitive functions which the other type of stroke does not affect as anne says its being linked to being hit over the head with a sledgehammer so i beleive that there are two significant types which need two different types of treatment
  21. hi john sorry to hear that you are being given the run around or that you feel that one way of sorting this out is to write to the medical director of neurosurgery at the hospital you are being treated at or even send him an email via the complaints form on the web page it worked for lin when i e mailed the director at stoke make sure you address it to the medical director of neurosurgery if you know his name if not dont worry just send it and put in what you have said here this is wrong but i know how you feel im pleased you are stable down below and hope it continues please take care best wish's
  22. hi perry you are going through the mill im sorry you seemed to have been ignored or they are on holiday i really hope someone gets back to you monday and will put your mind to rest you are entitled to rant and rave sweetheart just wish you had done it earlier to save you building up to the pitch are now i cant do anything except be here for you to rant and rave untill you can see daylight so from me to you a big hug and cuddles it will get better sweetheart and remember YOU will be there when they decided what to do for you and it should be all plain sailing so to speak take care thinking of you
