  9. hi linda i have watched a few crainoplastys at the hospital in queens sq london the procedure is fairly minor in itself the plate is normally preformed and is attached to the skull either with screws or glue they are not touching anything except bone so in all honesty i think you should think of it as going to the dentist to have a tooth pulled under anaesthic but waking up without the pain sweetheart please dont worry about it to much you will be out of hospital within a couple of days and getting back to normal life and remember if you bang you head on a kitchen cubboard you wont feel it lol sweetheart please please try not to worry hugs and cuddles
  10. hi dragonfly im sorry to read your post you are now in the same situation as myself but lin is some 9 months down the line the fact that he is in rehab is a good thing despite the problems he's had once he starts walking the good bits should follow on fairly speedly in his own time the talking will improve its proberly down to when he had a tube in his throat to help him breath during the op that will come back in time with help from speech therpy which he will have whislt in rehab this has been a nightmare for you in itself and beleive me that is the hardest thing to come to terms with lins happened during sex so i know where your coming from when lin was admitted i was given a book to start a diary which i have put all sorts in not only what was happening to lin but what we had before all my thoughts and wish's im still keeping this up to date it sits by lins bed and anyone who goes in to see her can put what they want into it reading your post you love him so much and taking one day at a time there maybe a good possibley of liveing independly with you beside him only you can make that choice you are not whining believe me you are still like me in many respects lost not knowing whats going to happen or what you can do to help the answer is already there you are still with him you love him talk to him recount the good times you had and what you have to look forwards to dragonfly i will pm you try and stay upbeat if i can help i will take care

  13. hi perry you must have the ventiperitneil shunt which lin has it picks up from the ventrical in the brain and runs well lins runs from the right side to the rear of the brain down under the skin down to the peratineil cavity to drain i take it the pain is from the tummy if so and the time you have had it it could be scaring ie the tissue sticking to the drain so when you move abnormaly it could pull giving you a spasm hence you say it goes off after a while it is worth checking it out anyway but thats is possibly what is going on i hope it dosnt give you to much discomfort the drain tube i can feel lins as it comes out of the skull and down her neck untill it goes into the body take care
  14. neil i have pmd you and it confirms it to me that the relitives who witness what happens is in need of help instaed of being asked or told be strong or she's or he's poorly that has really got to me over the last eight months i just wish someone had offered some form of help when this all happened but i have found some help putting it all down here and in lins diary which i have kept up to date every since this happened im now well through vol 2 and i will keep it up to date ntill lin either recovers enough for either me to read it to her or she god willing will be able to read it herself

  17. hi i have been reading this thread with great interest all the signs and symptoms sound like ptsd i have seen and treated before sending off to hospital both soilders from northern ireland and the gulf states during both wars and troubles the signs ie anxiety and panic attacks are some of the signs concurrent with ptsd and if anyone feels they do have trouble or worries you should see your gp. i also fear or show some signs and i have been reffered to counciling when i get the appt i will attend as i still have flash backs to when lin collapsed and i think others may feel the same we arnt freaks those who have suffered sah and those who have witnessed a loved one colllasping will all feel the stress and the anxiety some of you have spoken about therefore i feel it would be prudent to either have some form of counciling if not only to get it all out in the open all your fears and worries and hopfully be able to put your fears to rest with the approriate people i hope you dont mind me putting this on this thread but it wasnt untill two months ago when i started haveing flash backs to lin falling on me got more and more regular to the point of every night being afraid to go to sleep and waking up in a very cold sweat and being scared witless thank you

  23. hi jac dont worry the mri is harmless but gives more detailed view of what is going on it is able to give far more detail that of a ct scan and whatever they find they can take pitures from any angle upside and downside and sideways and dosnt pose a threat its to give the n/s a far more detailed view .the banging is the worse thing but again its only a noise close your eyes and dream of lying on a beach somewhere warm it at the longest will only take 20 -30 mins hope this helps and good luck
