  1. Welcome Eddie, I think we all felt the same way when we found others that have gone throught the same thing. How do you feel? MaryB
  2. Win, You may be right but I thnk a couple of us would shine in our hour to speak about life aftter SAH. You woudl be right I do hold my head in my hands when I am overloaded. We all woudl be startign a thought and never finsihing it,. That is why a film "A day in The LIfe Of SAH Patients" would have to be done first so we can focus after they watch bits and pieces of it. Kel BEl usually has it together... SHe woudl speak for me. I would just be another pretty face in the background.
  3. Hi Claire- I am Mary B Welcome I am so sorry you are going through all of this. I have fibro, dealing with it for over 15 years.. I have a website I am going to attach here I hope it works. If not look me up on facebook for the link. I need a nap really really bad but I will get back to you. Maryb Fibromyalgia Network Sorry I could not remember how to get that infomation to you later I will Keep a diary -typed-
  4. I believe we should write a book about "What to expect after your SAH or Stroke" (in my case both and jelly bean brain tumor....) I am serious. We could be rich, and meet up and have a party & do all the morning talk shows andmeet Dr, OZ, Oprah, etc........If we had 10 of us there / alternating people at least 3 would be having enough brain cells to speak. Really or did you guys see that movie "Young at Heart"? We can do a documentry (SP) and film our daily stuggles, the ups and downs, lack of information etc..... MaryB
  5. Somewhere in that "gray" area huh? Congrats on your full day of work. I still feel sometimes I am living outside of my body. Today I sure do but I have not napped in like a week. I am however a dimwit. I cannto get anything done or stick to any project I have started. I am sure it is because I have not napped so my mind is fatigue or memory is anyway. I also feel as if I am a baby learning something new- backsliding in other areas. I just keep putting that one foot in front of another and keep walking. Did you say the other day your feet hurt? I use a pinch of epson salt in hot water foot soak. Can't get better than that. My feet feel as if someone beats the bottom of them all the time. errrrr been that way for years. I wear ugly crocs often becasue they have such a soft cushion for your feet. Not the fake ones though. Well the nightly news is on and I have not watched it for days. I posted my alligator and dog photos today. Have a great anniversary and tomorrow as well. maryb
  6. Hello, I have been following this thread- I read the same ones over and over until I realize I already read this......... geezzzzzzz. Anyway just wanted to add I have had this happening for about a month or a little less which I think is improvement. I get tired and can't do anything yet I can't sleep or really rest. I lay down for a bit because I have a slight headache and I am mentally unfocused but I can't lay there long as I am not really tired. So I rest maybe 15 minutes b4 I cannot stand it and I get up. I still can't get anything really done as it wears me down when I try to but not enough to sleep. I say this is an improvement on my fatigue. However my memory is another story! Maybe next step is some energy.
  7. Michelle, (HAHAHAAHa- I mean Sandy!) A couple of years. I was first diagnoised with Fibro about 16 years ago, although I suffered and Dr.s just thougth it was all in my head for YEARS!!!!!!!!!. One of the worst problems aside from pain and feeling awful was the bottom of my feet hurt so bad to walk in the morning I could barely walk it was like someone beat htem all night with a rod.. Anyway....I have gone through many assorted meds usually an anti depressant and something for sleep. When I saw Neurolgist one day he said he woudl like to put me on Gabepentin but I said ( as he did not look at my chart) already on Cymbalta and I did not do well on Gabepentin. Rainign cats and dogs... I am soaked.........I just got back from work AGAIN!!!!!!!! and I need to bath so I can watch my show soon. The Good Wife and Mad Men Sandy have you or I gotten anything done today? http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/fibromyalgia-real-illness-pt-2
  8. Here I go beating my dead fibromylsia horse again but............ the drugs used to treat that disease are some of the same for PTSD ( which is common in SAH patients or anyone that has gone through a life threating situation) and fatigue, depression, sore muscles. Cymbalta also treats diabetic and just general neuropathy ( which I had a really bad problem prior to going on Cymbalta). I have been on Elevil, Lexapro, Gabepentin and now Cymbalta. I love my Cymbalta. It kind of takes care of many of the issues but I am suppose to be double my dose and I have not yet done that. I will repeat myself this class of drugs are what my neurologist would of put me on if I were not already on them. SO now I want everyone to run to your physican and ask for some kind of anti depressant even if you don't think your depressed it helps with your serotonin in your brain. Duloxetine (Cymbalta) is used to treat depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD; excessive worry and tension that disrupts daily life and lasts for 6 months or longer). Duloxetine is also used to treat pain and tingling caused by diabetic neuropathy (damage to nerves that can develop in people who have diabetes) and fibromyalgia (a long-lasting condition that may cause pain, muscle stiffness and tenderness, tiredness, and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep). Duloxetine is also used to treat ongoing bone or muscle pain such as lower back pain or osteoarthritis (joint pain or stiffness that may worsen over time). Duloxetine is in a class of medications called selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). It works by increasing the amounts of serotonin and norepinephrine, natural substances in the brain that help maintain mental balance and stop the movement of pain signals in the brain.
  9. Sorry Donna, but I do not have those issues. I am sorry you feel so down & out. Hoep you feel better soon, I am sure you willl hear "Be sure you are drinking a lot of water". So I will be the first to say it. MaryB
  10. So happy you are doing well Lin lin, Stay in touch, please. In childbirth a dear friend of mine was determined to have a natural birth and she ended up with an emergency c section due to something called HELPP (?). She was looking at no other alternatives other than a natual birth. I think she wanted to prove how tough she was or something. Really I wanted to knock her in the head! Silly thing. I think it is always wise to know plans change and the health of the mother and baby are the most important. So however a baby comes into this world we should be greatful for a healthy delivery. By the time I was 1/2 way through delivery I was pretty sure I did'nt even want a baby anymore. I changed my mind and did not want to do that anymore! I recall my lamze coach telling us if we ( mothers) lose control there is no way to regain it. I never lost control EVER in my life until I had my angiogram! I think I saved all my crazy mother screaming for that moment of utter freak the ___ out. LOL
  11. Tom, I am so happy to hear the great news. I hope this news gives you piece of mind! I felt so much better after each test they gave. Although I was still in my SAH fog for 5 months and all the news went over my head! I hated the angio test most of all and hope to never have that one repeated! Well done , Sir! Maryb
  12. Pre natal classes or Lamaze as we call it here in the states that taught us how to breathe was the most valuable class I have ever taken. I have used my lamaze breathing- much like yoga - over the years post childbirth in many painful , panic or stressful situations. I think it should be taught in grade school in a how to cope skills class! Congrats on the news! Here in the states everyone seems to have a c seaction ----- and they recovery quickley. I had natural long giant babies birth so I vote c section because it would be a breeze by looking at most of my fellow moms. ( I had a 4 degree tear with my first that took 6 months plus to heal so I am a bit regretful sorry)
  13. Thank you Ladies. Funny how things come up sometimes in your seach adn other times nothing!
  14. http://books.google.com/books?id=8N1ACp5FEqQC&pg=PA30&lpg=PA30&dq=SAH+fatigue&source=bl&ots=vu8kXDYlQD&sig=qsblCpBzORVaSqosiR1XbO-ejSQ&hl=en&sa=X&ei=5zSbT_ORNoWC8QSj7vD7Dg&ved=0CEkQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=SAH%20fatigue&f=false I am not sure how I got into this book but it is very interesting
  15. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21207050 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9766304 I am too tired to comment on this. LOL:crazy:
  16. I am hypo thyroid ( never made me lose weight being on meds as I was 98 pounds when I started them & 24 years old- I was just able to get pregnant with meds and now I am 53 & weigh I 160). I know that they have to rule out other things but there are many things in the medical world they just do not know about. But it would be nice to be able to say that without them making oyu feel crazy. It was bad enough to have fibro ( which there is no medical test for and when I was diagnosed with it I just cried because someone finally put a name on it adn I was not crazy) but about 6 years ago when we moved in to this house I developed hives and a bumps that itched like crazy even had a biospy of bump- the dermatologist thought it was stress and all in my head., I ended up at a Univeristy Hospital in Chicago in the dermataology dept and that dr knew exatly what I had although 3 other Dr.s & one derm did not. She was outraged when she read the notes from previous dermatologist saying it was all in my head. I had / have an auto immune disease called Lichen Planus. So although I believe we all know that we have these symptoms etc. I do not think the medical community can prove or want to ackknowledege something that they cannot test and get a positive result from. I don;t know what I want back more -cognitive issue or fatigue or headache? Where would I place the over loaded stimili? Or stamina? I would be happy for a good productive normal 8 hour day- I would love to have a 10 hour or more day to count on everyday but I do not want to be greedy! Right now I good for about 3 or 4 hours a day at most. The rest of it is a struggle. But again I have to say at least I am not learning to talk, walk and hold a fork again so maybe they see us as the success cases. The favorable outcome we are!
  17. The first time I was shown a scan was after my 3 month follow up MR with and without contrast the Neurosurgeon had us come into his office to show me a brain tumor they found. I was like "Really? You people are trying to kill me!" I could not even ask a question so I asked if that was a photo of his dog? We also talked sports which I brought up because I went into "shut down " mode. Later I asked him to write down my diagnoises for me so I knew what to tell people. Then I asked the neurologist for copies of my scans.
  18. I cannot help to think it would as my neurgolgist wanted to put me on gabepentin after SAH but I was already on Cymbalta. If sleeping at night is the issue I do not know why a low dose of xanax is not prescribed it does not have the hangover as the sleep medicaiton on market today. Or why not tylenol pm or one of those drugs at night? nyquil?
  19. I coud not say it better. When I have good day s I am sure it will last forever and I am cured. I have fallen for this for over 15 years with the fibro and now with the SAH. I am only good for 3-4 hours of any kind of work and I need a big break of a few hours not always sleep but some kind of not thinking. AS I told someone the other day my brain thinks about every step I take and each placement of my footing, I cannot drive and look at th emake of the car next to me or look out the window, I cnanot cook without reading the recipe at least 20 times each step over and over and over again. That is what I believe exhaust my brain b4 noon every single day. Something simple like pulling weeds makes my hands hurt per fibro... I have to ask myself can I have numb, tingling, painful sore hands and wrist for 3 days if I do this project?
  20. Once again I am bringing up the fibromylasia issue followign SAH as after an illness is when it sets in for most people worth checking it out. Cymbalta has worked wonders for me for my neuorpathy, pain and fatigue it made my life 75% better PRIOR to my SAH. Now I feel somewhat screwed! But it is something I want you all to look at as a possiblity. My neurologist was happy I was on Cymbalta. Fibro is a nerve pain - censors are off in the brain and spinal canal. Gotta run and get ready for dinner. I do not think it is a cure but I think it certainly is a possiblity that the fibo drugs woudl certainly help after a brain insult. http://www.fmnetnews.com/ maryb
  21. BWC, I understand all so well what you are talking about. I have not read the rest of the post as I am on my lunch hour and I have already used my spoon ration for the day and I have been off for 4 days prior to this mornings mad house. I believe they know very little, and I think they must weigh the words very carefully to not be misunderstood or told something wrogn and be sued. But when he said that about the blood is a poor example. I know my neurosurgeon told me once when I was askin gabout reovery I needed to " ask someone smarter then he" I was thinking who the eck is smarter than a brian surgeon. I am 7 months post and I still get no straight answers on my issues of weather I had a stroke or not with it. I have my reports here and it says so as does my nerologist and cardiolgist but neurosrgeon sayd no , bu tnow I am wondering if the no was for him misunderstanding the question. I am still banging my head against the wall. I loved when you said you were all set with your questions and then that threw you for a loop. That is exactly how I feel all the time. I started a journal yesterday - which I should of started as soon as I got home but I didnt so anyway I started it adn wrote " June, 24th, 2012. and had to scratch that date out. I was so ill for months prior to my SAh and I know it may of been the "chronic stroke" but no one would listen to me. I do not want to be a Debbie Downer. Gotta run adn make some lunch - good luck. I suggest calling his office with your questions and tell him what you said here on your post. Maryb
  22. Teechur, I am going to have a nasty little dig at the Honda dealer on Tuesday. I had a car recall so I went in and I had a seat belt issue so they had to order a part. He also gave me a list of $969. worth of work I needed done & would I like that done that day? Well No, thanks I cannot do that right now. I checked with my mechanic and it was all basically bs . SO anyway I made an appt for this Tuesday to get seatbelt issue done. Well jerk face Larry from Honda has called me 3 times afttrer I made the appt. being really crappy that they can only hold th epart for 30 days bla bla bla and it has been 33 days bla bla bla. I sat and listen as I was at work. But first he should of told me that in the beginnning and second you don't ***** out your customers. SO on Tuesday I am going to speak up to the manager about that. And let them know I do have a brain issue- now i am not using it at an excuse but I do have appt on my days off etc..... and if he said he on;y coudl hold part for 30 days I would of been more mindful but jeezzzzzzzzzzz. We need to treat people with more respect and kindness....... what an A**. Plus I already have a hard time trusted people with doing the right thing as I cannot make those decisons like I use to. Jerkface Larry.......oh Mad Men is on.................
  23. Sorry David that was a long day when it should of been easy. But at least you will have that chore scratched off your list. I would of never been able to do that at 3 months. Tuesdays I am buying a stereo/ storage cabinet of some sort for my laundry room that also houses the stereo for the downstairs and outside speaker. A style that is a bit more unsual than what is offered. I have looked for a year. Tuesday is it, not coming home until I have one. I am with Michelle with that shopping thing. I save soooooooooo much $$$$$$$$$$ by being overwhelmed in the stores but we never have much to eat! When recovering for 4 months on the couch b4 I went back to work I was so enthralled but QVC..... it was perfect for my short term memory loss since it keep reapeating itself over and over and over! We did not go see the 3 Stooges today because my husband was tired and napped and he did not have a NASAH.
  24. Welcome Men! This place is the thread that holds me together when things are rough. Where everyone understands you and your problems and joys. Nice you found this place so soon. There is pleanty of good reading material in here that will help you so much. Maryb.
  25. That is a beautiful story about your father. What a touching memory.
