Hello Everyone,

Sorry its been a while lots been happening including a Holiday to Oz, lots happening with my Mum too, she will be moving shorty thank god! She is going to go to a specialised unit dedicated to Brain Injury, the home has finally realised she is in the wrong place. They now feel they can't meet her needs. omg it is what i have said in the beginning. But hey ho, i do hope we get the right placement although i know mum won't be close by she will be getting the treatment she deserves.

Hope everyone is good, Paul i will catch up with you soon i'm reading your post and hoping things are ok with you and Lin.

If i have learnt anything from the diffulculties a family can face following a SAH it is...never give up! Yes mum is in need of full time care but does that mean she has to be left in a home that quite frankly have no idea about a Brain Injury, should she be left in bed all day! Should she still be in her nightwear at 1 in the afternoon. Should she not have her hair brushed, the food wiped from her mouth. NO! No one ever should be left in that way...But thats how it is for my mum.

DIGNITY!!! That's what my Mum deserves and i will fight everyday for her to have that.

Paul helped me with a letter so i could get a point across that she deserves more than what she was getting. (Thank you Paul)

Finally they have agreed that Mum's condition is in need of cognitive therapy, social interaction, and most of all respect.

Please if you feel your family member deserves more... fight for it, lets be the voice of the SAH survivors and make sure they have a chance in life.

I'm awaitng for the team to come down from the Brain Injury unit, i am so hoping they will be able to help mum, they seem very dedicated to the cause. Mum is still the same, seems odd she will never get better, but we are use to the way she is now, funny enough it's made her an even stronger character.

And she can still beat me at Cribbage lol.......

Hope everyone is well xx

Hi Sharon - your mum beats you at cribbage - Wow that is really something (and they couldn't see that she was in the wrong place)!!!!!!!! - Sheer madness I think!!!! Good Luck with your next port of call and hope there is some help on the horizon soon for you and your family at long last.

Elaine
