  1. Hi Leo Must have missed this thread hope the injection works for you. I suffer with constant nuerological pain on the left side from the craniotomy it is probably a trapped nerve but have never been offered any injections for pain relief. I live on amytriptilene and 8 paracetomol most days. Please let us know how you get on as might see if I can try it get so fed up of relying on painkillers and taking the ami.....
  2. Hi Denisse A warm welcome to you it is very early days for you still and perfectly natural to feel afraid and frightened about what has happened to you. There are quite a few members who had their SAH's at about the same age as yourself. It must be really hard for you coping with a young family as well. The headaches and gripping pains are very normal in the early stages of recovery they do get better with time. Try to rest as often as possible and drinking plenty of fluids will also help. Wishing you well in your continued recovery and look forward to hearing more from you.
  3. Hi Gary A warm welcome to the site. Wishing you all the best with your recovery just remember to listen to your body and rest as much as you need to. Look forward to hearing more from you.
  4. Hi Lin Good luck for tomorrow and yes plenty of breaks do help let us know how you get on.
  5. I can emphasise with you John I also seem to get most bugs doing the rounds and to add insult to injury it takes longer to get over anything. Hope everything is going well for you at the moment.
  6. Hi Saffy I think the way your feeling is quite normal after having undergone a coiling procedure. It takes quite a while for your brain to recover from the procedure it has endured. Try to be kind to yourself and I know how hard it is but listen to your body and rest as often as you need to......plenty of fluids also helps. Hope you feel better soon take care.
  7. Hi Lin Lin Welcome to the site you sound as if you're starting to learn your limitations. It took me over 18 mths to finally find a work/life balance that suits me for most of the time. You are still in your first year of recovery which is one of the hardest with the fatigue, exhaustion and testing your capabilities. Never say never to returning to your job as a solicitor it may be become manageable again in the future. Wishing you luck with the Citizens Advice Bureau, I'm sure your skills will be greatly appreciated. Look forward to hearing more from you.
  8. Hi Pam So glad that you have been given a proper explanation and just check with your G.P about flying if your meds are working there may not be any problem. You know what mothers are like we all worry no matter how old the children are.
  9. Hi Blueday Its great to hear that you're feeling more positive have been keeping up with all your posts but not getting a lot of time on the computer lately. I see you're going to Karen's BBQ so it will be lovely to meet you and your Angel. P.S looking forward to your next installment.
  10. Mel Fortunately my employers have been good with me with regards to the hours. Working the 20 hours over four is good as it means only 5 hours each day. Have a word with your employer see if they will let you change your work pattern to 24 over 4 days instead of over 3 days. If you don't ask you'll never know they may even let you do it. If not try a referral to Occupational Health they maybe be able to persuade your employer.
  11. Hi Mel Welcome to the site look forward to hearing more from you.
  12. Hi Luisa I imagine you are feeling really tired after your first few days back. Like yourself I started back on 16 hrs a week but my superviser was brilliant and for the first 4-6 weeks I didn't really do my own job at all just got re-acclimatised to the office and caught up with all the changes that had taken place. Karen is right in saying that it does seem harder after suffering a third nerve palsy. I have to have a humidifier with directional spout on my desk so that my eyes don't become to dry from working on vdu screens. I also over 18 mths found that I was unable to return to f/time hours in fact only ever reached 30 then reduced then down. I now only work 20 hours over 4 days and even that can be quite challenging and tiring. If you think you are maybe starting on too many hours have a word with your supervisor or boss and let them know you need to start back a little slower. It is quite nerveracking at first after being at home but your confidence does gradually improve and the feeling of normalacy is good.

    memory

Hi Diane So sorry to hear that Mark is suffering long term memory problems as the others have said it is more common to have short term memory issues. I also have some issues with long term memory but not as severe as Mark. I completed a degree in a subject I loved in 2004 and now have no memory of it and can't even comprehend the assignments I wrote, even tried subscribing to a journal but its like double dutch to me now. I think John is right and maybe Mark needs to see a clinical Neuropsychologist and maybe you yourself may find some couselling helpful as it must be really disheartening for you trying to cope with all the emotional and physical after effects of Marks' SAH. Really hope that you can both get the help and support that you need.
  14. Hi Linda Glad to hear that things are going well for you, will look forward to reading your story when you have time to post it. Good luck with the book
  15. Hi Angela Welcome so glad you've finally decided to post and thank you for sharing your experience with us. Look forward to hearing more from you.
  16. Hello Willow Welcome to the site and so glad you are finding it useful. I live not far from you in Birkenhead. It is very early in your recovery it took me several months to find the site so well done just remember to try and listen to your body and rest up as much as you can. The dreaded fatigue can be really bad in the first 12 months but I know how tempting it can be to push too hard too soon. Take care of yourself and look forward to hearing more from you.
  17. Hi Georgina Belated welcome to the site. I also like many of the others still suffer with fatigue and extreme tiredness and had to adjust my life/work balance to deal with the problems. I'm generally ok most of the time as long as I don't push myself too hard but sometimes it can't be helped. I suffer with constant nuerological pain on the left hand side were the burst anuerysm was clipped. It took about 18 months for them to decide that it is probably permanent and to find a course of tablets that alleviate some of the pain. If your headaches are recent and increasing it is best to get your G.P to refer you back to the Nuero team. Funnily enough though haven't had a proper headache since the SAH. Look forward to hearing more from you.
  18. Hi Karen A warm but late welcome from me as well, look forward to hearing more from you.
  19. Hi Anne I can't advise on the actual Anuerysm or the site of it but my anuerysm was clipped and the odds I got given were 70/30 with 30% being risk of stroke/death but mine wasn't a giant and I had already had a bleed. I agree with the others it is a difficult decision to make maybe when they see the Nuerosurgeon again they can make a list of their worries and concerns to mention.
  20. Hi Nita Great to see you back and congratulations on your 4th Annie-versary.
  21. Hi Kylie Welcome to the site and thanks for sharing your story with us. Look forward to hearing more from you.
  22. Hi Bubbles Welcome to the site look forward to hearing more from you when you're ready.
  23. Hi Haydn Welcome to the site. I have always done a certain amount of exercise not a fanatic by any means. I restarted slowly and the first type of exercise was using weighted machines which meant that I didn't have to exert myself too much. I now manage between 2 and 4 gym sessions a week and have done for the past 18 months. My hubby just invested in a "Crosstrainer" for me so have been skipping the gym and using that instead. After 4 weeks am managing between 5-7km most days. I always listen to my body when exercising as I suffer with constant nueropathic headpain and have done since the SAH. So if I start to feel dizzy or lightheaded I stop. Hope this helps and look forward to hearing more from you.
  24. Hi Caroline Happy 2nd Annie-versary so glad that you are doing well and congratulations on the future "nappy event "
