  1. Fantastic news but agree with the others try and take some time for yourself now.
  2. Hi Luisa Congratulations when is the baby due. My youngest grandson was only 14 months when I had my SAH and the others were just under 3 and Owen was nearly 7. I found them very tiring in the first few months but it has got easier as they've got older. Can't stand it when they start shouting and screaming though generally shut myself in another room til they calm down. I'm sure that by the time your daughter has the baby you may find that it will be easier than you think and there is nothing better than cuddling and playing with little ones.
  3. Hi Jen A warm but belated welcome I hope you find the site as useful as I always have. Any questions just ask there is always someone who can respond, will read your story in a bit. Look forward to hearing more from you.
  4. Hi Momo So glad the Consultant has put your mind at rest and what he told is very interesting and may be of help to others with unruptured Anuerysms.
  5. Just love crunchy peanut butter. Kel did you know its good for you apparently if eaten in the evening can help sleeplessness.
  6. Hi Lynz So glad you shared your story with us and what a true little star your daughter is. Look forward to hearing more from you.
  7. Hi John So pleased that you have finally recieved your apologies and a proper explanation. Hope this year is a better year for you.
  8. Hi Angela Welcome, its good to hear that your partner is doing well with his recovery. Hope you are both managing to rest up and its great that you have a supportive family network around you. Look forward to hearing more from and maybe your partner as well when he feels ready.

  10. Hi Zoe A warm welcome to the site and so sorry to hear about your husband. As the others have already said he is in the best place and getting well cared for. It is a very worrying time for you at the moment so any questions please ask, we have quite a few carers on the site who have been in the same situation that you are in. Remember to try and take the some time out for yourself to rest difficult I know but your husband will need all your strength and support on his road to recovery.
  11. Hi Caz great news and good to hear that your learning to pace yourself. One of the hardest things we have to learn is to listen to our bodies.
  12. Hi Rod I also have been getting my hair coloured regularly ever since the scar tissue healed. Hope the skin test doesn't cause Merrill any problems so she can have a colour put on.
  13. Hi Welcome to BTG and so sorry to hear of your loss but thank you for being brave enough to share it with us. Its very hard as an adult coming to terms with losing a parent or having to see a much loved parent on life support so I can imagine how traumatic it must have been for you at just 17. I hope that sharing your experience has been of help to you in coming to terms with what happened and that you can now move on and remember all the good times you shared with your father.
  14. Hi Missy A warm welcome to you and hope you find the site as useful as I always have can't add much more the others have said it all. Look forward to hearing more from you soon. Any questions just ask there is always someone around with answers.
  15. Hi Susie If you're really worried ask your doctor to refer you for an ultra sound scan which can identify if there is any problems and hopefully set your mind at rest.
  16. Hi I'm one of the guilty ones.....I came round in HDU after the op and was craving desperately from the Saturday until the Wednesday when I finally was free of all drips etc and got Morris to wheel me outside for a cigarette. Having said that I now smoke a lot less than I did before SAH. I know I should stop smoking but I enjoy it so much but am in the process of trying to give up at the moment down to just 2 or 3 a day. The nurse has me on Champix been on it for 3 weeks but it is only just starting to make me feel sick when I have a ciggie.....fingers crossed it will work soon. The after effects of having an SAH are quite traumatising and from personal experience I found having a puff eased some of the stress and frustration in the early weeks of recovery.
  17. Hi Graham A warm welcome to the site hopefully you will find some help and support here. I think a lot of us felt very confused, scared and angry at first but things do seem to get a bit easier once you can accept the person you become post- SAH. I spent the first 2 years trying to find the right work/life balance and learning to adapt to the new me. I still get angry and frustrated at times but that is aimed at myself when I push too hard and suffer with exhaustion and worse headpain than normal. Look forward to hearing more about you when you're ready.
  18. Hi Karen Really hope all goes well for your scan next week.
  19. Hi Laanka So glad it went well as the others have said get plenty of rest and fluids in the next few weeks. Look forward to hearing more from you once you feel better.
  20. Hi Saffy Welcome to the site I'm sure you will find lots of support here. Like a lot of members I had an SAH so never had the dilemma that you have. It must be really worrying for you but as some of the others have already said make a list of all your questions and concerns to take to your appointment then you should be able to make an informed decision. Wishing you all the best and please let us know how you get on.
  21. Hi Kel The answer is "YES" you should be classed as having a disability, therefore your employer must take into consideration the Disability Discrimination Act. when considering your situation. I didn't consider myself to have a disability either at first but the after effects of the SAH have left me unable to work full-time and even though the fatigue doesn't strike as often, if I overdo things I do end up unable to function properly for a few days. You are still fairly early on in your recovery so will still be learning what you can and cannot do. It took me 18 months to realise I was overdoing things and get my work/life balance right for me. Good luck with the Doctor just be as honest as possible and explain about the severe tiredness and fatigue that way the Doctor may well suggest a much slower return to work for you.
  22. Great news Phil love to you both.
  23. Hi Kel I think that what Caroline has said is good advice if you're a member of a Union contact the rep. I would imagine that different organisations have different policies regarding return to work after long term illness. Have another word with your Doctor as their idea of a phased return might be different to your employers and then the Doctor will be able to state that on your return to work note. The phased return your H.R is offering does seem a little harsh but again if you're a member of the Union speak to a rep who can look into the H.R and sickness policy for you. Do remember that your employer has to consider the Disability, Discrimination Act when dealing with you.
  24. Hi Aakki Welcome to the site and I'm sure it will help to provide some of the reassurance you are looking for. There is a forum especially for those members who have had Non-Anuerysmal bleeds which you should find helpful. The first few months can be really hard even though you sound as though your recovery is going really well the anxiety can be hard to deal with and I think most of us worried a lot about it happening again, it will get easier with time. Just remember that you still need to get as much rest as you can. Look forward to hearing more from you soon.
  25. Hi Luisa Welcome to the site and hopefully you will find it really helpful during your recovery. I was a little like yourself and in my local hospital for nearly a week before SAH was diagnosed and transferred and treated at the Neuro Hospital. I had a "Third Nerve Palsy" in my left eye caused by the Anuerysm and lost the sight completely in that eye for a number of weeks. When my eye fully opened the vision was double and blurred for a few weeks but fortunately it has corrected itself. The only problem I'm left with is my peripheral vision is not quite what it was. Look forward to hearing more from you and take care at your stage of recovery you still need plenty of rest.
