  1. Andi, I too will bid you welcome:-D Not a place (BTG) one would choose under normal circumstances, but after TIA's SAH etc etc it is the very place to be. We do so understand, I'm going to adopt you I think, only because I need a gardener;-) I have a pretty big one which got very out of control, until I started to recover:roll: It is coming back into shape, but as yet I can't quite manage the length of time in the garden that I really need, but at least I'm able to make a start, which is good. Look forward to hearing more, lots of Hampshire folk on here, even I am ex Hampshire( just outside Petersfield)but a long way from there now! Welcome aboard:-D
  2. Hello Kelly:-D I won't say much about the reason for your post as I reckon a lot of folk have as they will because fear is huge at first but it does gradually improve, there is nothing quite as comforting as having a 'natter' on here and so often finding out that what you feel is exactly what others feel or have felt. The big advantage you have now, is that GP's etc now know you had aneurysm's and therefore if there are any real worries ( which is as Karen says really uncommon) they would react very quickly, but to worry about each little apparently 'odd' thing is not uncommon and all of us will surely understand. For you this is very early days and recovery is pretty slow but it is very certain now so you can take heart:-D Keep chatting to us, and soon you will smile at yourself, I know I do ( smile at myself I mean, I don't mean I'm smiling at you!)
  3. Hello Kellie and welcome to BTG I'm sure that you will find an awful lot of benefits and it sounds from your story so far that you have much in common with most of us. Take your time and look around we would love to hear more when you feel ready .
  4. Yes, I too managed to get a copy with the fresh fruit today;-) Yasmin you looked great, I thought you were a model, looking so unlike a 'survivor' of anything, well done:thumbsup:
  5. Rod, just like the others, my answer is 'Yes' up,down, up down, first this then that, you get the general idea, it's hard but it's normal for us SAH'ers
  6. Bessie, thinking about you and your family and your Mum so much. Trust in the experts and keep talking to us
  7. Hi all! I have not heard of the mag but I will try NI, one of us must be able to get it, somewhere. Good on you Yasmin to get published on such an important matter:thumbsup: If we all fail, perhaps we should write (representing BTG(!) and ask for a copy
  8. Greetings Celia, now that is a a real prob to have to face, don't tell yourself off! I bet you will look fantastic if you do have to shave your hair off, I think that so often we can really appreciate what wonderful bone structure many of us have if there is no hair in the way. My hair did thin quite a lot immediately post SAH but has slowed down a great deal,it was wavy pre SAH and is now curly:lol: I'm having fun with it, what next I wonder but it's definitely too short for dreadlocks;-)
  9. Michelle, don't you stress about it, he/she will simply chat and ask questions of you, questions about which things are difficult for you etc etc, nothing that will seem in the least peculiar. Just tell it exactly like it is and never forget he/she is on your side and will help your team to treat you in the most effective way:-D
  10. Hi Anne, How's things? Apart from your pain that is! Karen and Tina definitely have it in one, Go see GP and try to show just how worried you are, so right to say that worry does not help recovery! Thinking of you
  11. Welcome back old man Neil;-) So pleased about your stuck brow! Give my love to poor old Tammy. How goes the great return to work, are your headaches any better/less frequent etc Good to 'see' you:devil:
  12. Phil, can't do much more than this, but I promise to think of you and of course of Sharon. Good Luck
  13. Oh John, Poor you:frown: That should do the trick, he/she has to respond in law so maybe something will happen, I still have my fingers crossed for you. I was sucessful and now know I am having mine re-coile on 16th September
  14. Hi there, Rod Tina and Louse have all hit the nail on the head I think! As Tina says you make the judgment, after all you see him as he is at the moment, and eventually more will happen of that I'm sure if he does not improve Try not to get too bothered by all of this and just let your husband take his time, then you can go back and say 'See';-)
  15. Lots of similar articles about this today, Karen I found one on The Guardian Mailing and there is a feature on the BBC News site. Just guess who will have a copy in hand when I next see my GP and when I see the consultant neuro surgeon next week! He is I think looking at my results from the Angio and I hope he will also say when I am being admitted again! Lots I want to talk to him about poor fellow;-) Especially the additional annie they have found:roll:
  16. Bessie my dear, don't ever think you can do nothing! OK as you say you can't actually cure her but this I can promise, what you give her the love and the being there for her are invaluable and no-one else can do that except you.....you are vital:-D
  17. So pleased for you and my fingers are tightly crossed!
  18. Hello Phil and congratulations on your 1st Anni ! Keep looking I bet a job you enjoy will turn up one day and you will by then be even fitter!
  19. Hi Bessie, It does seem scary doesn't it when you see all the tubes etc Especially if you are not certain what they are for or have not seen them before. Try not to worry too much, although you would of course be a very surprising person if you didn't worry at all! Thinking of you
  20. Hi again I too have a shunt and I don't even notice it, except when I wash my hair and feel the bump in my head !
  21. Agree with all the above and send you and Paul great big supportive hugs, when you are anxious just visualise me with very long arms hugging you from N.Ireland to Australia! Wow! That sweater would take some knitting! You are doing really well Debbie, keep that chin up;)
  22. Hi again:-D I found and have gathered from others experience that the brain does play tricks for some time after SAH, it is as far as I know as a result of the damage done by the bleed, but will gradually improve:-D You are both in the very early stages and I'm sure these odd things will keep popping up, something which does seem to happen quite a lot! I itched and itched but there was nothing there, not a flea, a midge or a spot! This does not happen now, and I admit I'm very grateful Keep going both of you it's a tough road but does have an ending;-)
  23. Welcome Norah, and I do hope that just the support we can give, the acres of useful but not boring reading and maybe even the humour on here will help:-D I live well out in the country and not driving was awful, but if I'm honest I would not have been safe at large anyway. The time did pass and the lack of independence actually made me do other things so I even managed a little benefit from that. I hope never to have to give up driving again though:roll: Enjoy and learn as you browse and keep us all in the loop, we do love to hear about progress. Good Luck;-)
  24. The timer idea, I like, might help me to be a reasonable cook again;-) I use Post its too and also have a mini dictaphone, which lives in the pocket of my jeans ( only seldom and under protest do I wear any other ensemble;-)) It's for the good ideas I have when away from the Post-its but have forgotten by the time I get back to them:lol: Tina, I am still trying to work out exactly what it is you do with yours Do you really, I have this wonderful vision of your house full of notes saying 'Damn' 'Blast' etc, the rest I leave to other imaginations than mine:lol:
  25. Hiya Caz, Glad you found the page:-D I am going to quote Ann now All I can add to that is 'That is it in a nutshell and is how I feel, am getting to know the new 'Me' a bit better too and parts of the finding out can, doubtful as it may seem, be fun, for starters I think the new me is more patient with herself, not so sure about patience with others though:frown2:
