  2. hi vialdana please take a step back it is very early days in hubbys recovery the more they push the more he will rebel ive been through it with my lin let hubby make the moves himself encorouge [spelling ] but dont push because if he is still suffering an infection this could change his demeanor and can be very anti and he will be very resentful all because of the infection , not his own wish . one thing i know is lin likes choclate and ice cream as tasters the fact you can encourge him to eat maybe down to your good self and maybe the staff dont have the time to encourage him to eat there is another way the hospital may choose if hubby continues to rebel and that is to insert a peg tube into his tummy as a temperary solution and feed him that way untill he gets the knack of eating down pat it sounds horrible but its not honest it means thta hubby get all he needs untill he is stronger and magaes to improve his swallow reflex and it can be removed once everything is back on track it is normal to take two steps forwards on one back that i found out the hard way its a roller coaster ride whih many have to travel even though they dont like roller coasters i know i hated them before now even more but it does get better in time promise the fact it seemed happier after the lumber drain was carried out makes me think he may need a shunt inserted but this will be the drs choice once he see's hubby i know lin was better after her shunt was done the main thing now is that YOU take care of yourself and try and step back and rest yes i know it sounds hard i had it said to me for many months in fact our friends are still ramming it down my throat lol mind you ive lost a lot of weight lol is there anyone who could cover for a day or so so you can have a breather because who is going to care for him if you fall ill god forbid i will pm my number if you want a chat i will be here take care regards to hubby
  3. scarlett contact your mp and ask him why they wont transfer you will send another pm take care
  4. hi scarlett please try not to get too worked up pop in to see your gp and ask him to do a refferal to queens as far as i know the ability to ask for treatment at a hospital of your choice is countrywide , but if you speak to your gp i beleive he will help you he should have the results from the hospital even though you went private i think he may push for you take care and i know its hard but try not to get worked up please take care
  5. hi lescault i have been reading your post's and although im so pleased your wife came through and is doing so well bought tears to my eyes and i was reliving our past hence me only posting now after a few days of your first posting. i also went through very much the same with lin and four and a half years im still going through it. but to feel the relief that someone sandy has come out the other side with guts and determination to shake things off and stick up a finger at the dr who wrote her off please wish her well and go girl go girl best wish's to you all and good luck
  6. hi scarlett im sorry you have had such an experience hopefully things can be sorted now under the new regulations a patient can request treatment at a hospital of their choice, as you have now a certain result can you ask the surgeon at queens sq to take you under his wing under the nhs and resolve the problem,i know its far from home but you would be treated and resume your life , there are two ways to get answers from the hospital who treated you in wales, first through the pals system at the hospital or if you can find out who the clinical director at the hospital and write to him/her directly with a fourteen day deadline to make sure they dont sit on the complaint. i must admit that queens sq is good as i did some of my training there and they certainly know their stuff one thing has crossed my mind is that queens sq may have done a different type of scan than a normal ct which is a quick scan and they may have covered more of an area than a normal scan as you do say that a section was of a mri nature . i wish you well and hope you get some comfort that something has been found and the problem is resolved very soon take care
  7. hi wade pleased you have found us be careful how much you research on the web, it can be overpowering and at times misleading and giving you false hope. the main thing now being only a month since your bleed is to listen to your body and take heed. there are a couple of people on here like yourself who have been very active to say the least and have struggled to come to terms with the restriction on what they did before and what they are capable to do so early after a bleed , who will come on later and let you know how they coped. im so pleased to hear that you have survived and are now on the road to recovery take things slowly listen to your body it can take a very long time to fully recover if thats the right word to use or is it to modify your life style to cope with the changes it does get better in time i think the adage is slowly slowly catchee the monkey i wish you well and hope things improve as many on here suffer the same complaint of the muzzyness and hearing problems keep up the fliuds and take one day at a time best wishes
  8. hi tony glad you found us many on here will come on and compare their symptoms which sound so common in almost everyone im pleased you made it out the other side and bearing in mind how far you were from help makes even better well done to the dr i can only wish you well in your recovery so far but be warned it could take quite some time before you meet your previose level of fitness but listen to your body and keep the fluids up take care and best wishes
  9. morning scooby doo welcome to btg glad you have found us many of the problems you discribe are normal to almost everyone on here. tiredness is normal and also headaches the main thing is to keep up your fliud levels many on here will advise you better than i can you will have to slow down there are a few who have taken up the mantle of returning to training some cycling others running pleae learn to slow down a little and listen to your body and pace yourself others will be along to advise you and support you take care and enjoy life
  10. hi loretta yes it is one of the side short tempered loss of the temprant moods is a well known side effect maybe he needs to talk to someone see your gp and see if hubby can be reffered for counciling for ptsd it may help big time many on here will testify to that end , welcome to the site and i know many on here will support both your hubby and yourself through the transisition wishing you both well sorry i wrote this as karen was posting

  17. hi beverly im sorry to hear that you had such an episode which threw the family into despair and that you suffered a fit it is normal post sah bleed to expect such an episode im surprised you were not informed of the risk it hopefully be a one off due to the brain healing and making new or repairing the pathways which have been damaged your check up with the neurologist will lay that fear to rest with an eeg which is pain free scan electrical mapping of the brain which will show if you are at risk of having anymore i think and hope you will not have anymore bleeds so please try and relax and settle down and wait for the dr to call you in for an chat and checkup take care
  18. hi sweetheart im shocked to say the least it seems like you are being put under a lot of presure by the company who are suppose to support you in your return to work and i understand how you are feeling just wish i could do more to help one thing under the disabled act they are flouting the law and would be held accountable i understand you want to do your best and good on you for doing what you can . i would suggest taking in a voice activated tape recorder then you can prove what has happened and i think the company would think twice about supporting you properly good luck dawn
  19. hi dave im sorry you are suffering one question i would like to ask how much water or fluids are you drinking a day my thoughts are that you maybe dehydrated is it possible you are not drinking enough as many on here say that drinking more fluids help and by sitting in an office maybe you are not keeping the fluids up
  20. hi andy i would resrict the visiting for donna's sake even if you have to set up a rota but as you have said you want some you time with donna so be strict and tell them short time only does donna have a particular person she wants to see let her choose who she wants to see for short periods but she will sleep a great deal its the bodies way of healing a diary and scrap book is a brilliant idea im now on volume eleven take care
  21. good morning andy welcome to btg im sorry for the reason you have found the site but wish your wife a speedy recovery you have raised a lot of questions which are normal which many on here will help you put your mind to rest i will try and answer some of your questions i know very well how you feel as i went through the same four years ago with my lin however your wife would have had an anurursium for a long time in fact most of her life unfortunantly when the blood pressure gets to aa certain level and if the walls of the anni thin enough it will let go hence the bleed so please put out your mind any thoughts of its your fault you couldnt have prevented it letting go the vasospasm is caused by the brain being irritated by the blood surounding the brain the blood vessels with supplying the brain sometime consrict reducing the supply to the brain the risk area is for or about twenty one days but drugs are normally given from post surgery for that time as a precaution and as a preventitive because its a very well known side effect the fact your wife as you say is making good progress and her short term memory has and is improving is a very very good sign and im very pleased to hear that please try not to dwell on what could happen at this stage you can only take one day at a time i know its easy to say but so much harder to do but keep her relaxed and happy and let her do all the work as such only can she heal herself at her own pace and hopefully she will be home soon only time will tell what if any damage has been done hopefully none take care and good luck we are here should you need us or you have any worries or questions many on here will come on later to support and help you take care regards to your wife
  22. hi karen its great news about jim im really pleased for you both i really do i just wish lin and i could have a cuddles. karen there is a sensor pad which you should be able to get from social services or the stroke nurse which lies on the bed and if jim moves a small alarm goes off which you would hear so if he is trained he he to move when he wakes up you will be awake as well its a pressure pad which is used at lins nurseing home for some of the more restless residents i will try and get the details later today and give you the details in a private message i really wish you both well but remember to take some time for yourself and im really chuffed the insurance is paying off the morgage that will give you some peace of mind hugs and cuddles sweetheart
