Gill C
I usually have a head & shulder massage when I have my hair cut but haven't been brave enough to have one since my clipping. I also have seen some good deals online for full massages & head massage but have been put off because I don't want anyone touching my head. Has anyone had a massage (either head or full body) since their SAH & did yu feel ok afterwards???
Karen
Hi Gill, We've had posts on this subject before, so it might well be worth doing a search on here as well. Individuals need to check with their own GP or Consultant/Specialist Nurse re: massage, as it increases the circulation of blood flow through the arteries. You should also check that the person carrying out the massage is fully qualified and mention that you've had a SAH.
winter
Hi Gill - Do it. As a massage therapist, I can safely say this will be good for you. Massage stimulates and moves all the fluids in your body - thus supplying extra nurtrients and oxygen to muscle tissue, getting rid of toxins that have built up in the soft tissues and inducing the flow of hormones that make us feel better, and slowing down the ones that make us anxious and depressed! There are so many health benefits that come with massage. I would go to a therapist, not your hair stylist, for a healthy massage. Explain to her what you've been through and what your concerns are. She will take those into consideration and if you feel uncomfortable at any point, let her know. Drink plenty of water before you go and after your massage. I have had massages since my SAH and have been fine. If you are still uncertain, ask your dr. if it's ok. Hope you do it - will be great for you. Super Mario
I actually had a couple of neck and back massages on the boat when I did a Nile Cruise. It was wonderful and really helped my back pain, plus they left me feeling totally relaxed.

jess
Gill can i suggest that you first check with a doctor because it isn't wise to do anything that you don't fully trust yourself. I mean if your asking you must be unsure so please check, however I can't see the harm in them. Jess.xxx

tracy
Hi everyone Thats funny im actually having a head massage tomorrow. Its a therapist who does indian head massage at my husbands works. I had one last year obviously before my SAH which was lovely. So my husband booked it for me as a way to relax. Didnt think it would be a problem as ive not had surgery or anything on my head. Karen
Gill, I'm using Google Chrome as a browser at the minute and there isn't any problem with viewing the site in its entirety and the "search our forums" panel is in full view on the right hand side and not obscured by the profile or settings tabs, as they should be on the left hand side of your screen. There is no problem with the website or its software. I don't know too much about IE 8 Beta, but it may not be compatible with viewing this site in its entirety, so it may be worth your while to download another browser. Gill C
I emiled my registratr & got this reply Yes, of course you may have a massage. You may have a head massage as long as they are gentle and know that you have had brain surgery so that they don't upset the scar or the healing bone underneath. A body massage will be excellent for you as all forms of relaxing therapy will aid in your recovery so it looks like I cna give t a go!
