Janeece
Hello, I am new to this site. I had a subarachnoid hemorrhage on 9/11 and have been home for a week and a half and experiencing vision problems and a lot of anxiety. Anyone else have these problems? Is there anything that can help? Please.
Tina
Hi Lori A very warm welcome to BTG, glad you found us. You are in the very early stages of recovery and all that you are experiencing is normal. I also had vision problems and lots of anxiety. I was under a specialist for my double vision etc, if you are not i would contact your Neuro team and get a referral. Mainly for peace of mind. The anxiety we all seem to suffer from. Your body has gone through a major life threatening trauma and you may take some time to recover. We are all different in our recoveries. Here is a link that may help you: https://web.behindthegray.net/search/?&q=anxiety&search_and_or=or&sortby=relevancy You will find lots of helpful information and caring support here xx Take care, rest up and drink lots of water, it really does help. Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. Love Tina xx

Janeece
Thank you Tina and Louise for answering my questions. How long ago did you both go through this? When mine happened, I was so lucky. I was working out at home and seriously thought I was overheated. I was walking around my house and couldn’t see right and my breathing was erratic and I was trying to cool down and calm down. My husband had come in the house and I could hear him but I couldn’t answer him. Finally he found me laying on the floor in our bedroom. He said omg baby are you ok. I kept telling him.. I’m ok I’m ok. But he said I was sweating profusely and not answering him right. He was already on the phone with 911, and they got there so quick. I feel so blessed that God working with my husband and my doctors at the St. David’s hospital saved my life. That’s a little bit of my story. I feel as if I got a second chance at life. I really believe that the exercise caused me to have a SAH.
ClareM
Hi Lori, thanks for sharing some of your story. My bleed happened too when I was exercising but I have been told that it would have happened without. I have actually found exercise to be my saviour in my recovery so when you are feeling better and your vision has improved speak to your healthcare team about getting back to it. Take things slowly you are very early in your recovery, and drink plenty of water it really helps with the headaches. Clare xx
Janeece
Hello Claire, thank you so much for your response. I researched what can cause a SAH to come on and exercise was one of them because it raises your blood pressure. I’m sure you are right that it would have come on anyway. Such a slow process getting better. I am determined to do it. My husband has been my rock through this. He has been right by my side. Take care
Tina
Hi Lori I went through this nearly 12 years ago now. Things do get better. Sometimes its one step forwards and two steps back. I have learnt my limits and know the signs of when i have to slow down and listen to my body. Thank goodness your husband was there when it happened. Such a horrible scary time for your husband too. With your determination and lovely husband beside you, onwards and upwards Go steady and enjoy your second chance at life. Love Tina xx
Janeece
Thank you Tina you are awesome and my husband wanted me to tell you that too. Every day is getting better and I’m a survivor literally and I will get through this. 12 years that’s amazing
Colleen
Hi Lori, i went through a ruptured aneurysm 11 years ago. For me, it came on after a morning shower; no exertion and no history of high blood pressure, though I had been under stress at the time. MasterCard, I also had serious anxiety. I found herbal teas helpful, just the process of making them and sipping them. Some have calming herbs as well - chamomile comes to mind. I also had a sweet dog that would lay against me and keep me company when my husband was at work. I remember being pretty limited at the time regarding exercise and reading gave me wicked headaches, so it was tea, tv, and the pets. It just takes time to heal. If the anxiety is extreme, speak with your Drs. PTSD is not uncommon in SAH survivors. Best wishes, Colleen
Janeece
Good morning Colleen, Wow, after a shower, And no high blood pressure either. I’m feeling better every day and determined to beat this. I feel I need to do something and am waiting for God to guide me, to what that may be. I really want to help others that are going through this. I’m feeling a bit closed in being stuck in the house and not being able to drive. I can’t wait to go to the hospital and thank and give big hugs to those who saved my life. I feel so different these days. I’m so happy to be alive. My eyes are the only holding me back and I’m starting to have some back pain now, but other than that I’m feeling pretty good. I have little memory of so many things and my husband was telling me I was complaining about a really bad headache when I arrived but I don’t remember the headache, and to me that’s strange. Anyway, that is my latest update. You have a wonderful day and take care.
Macca
Hi Lori, Welcome to BTG! You are right - you have got a second chance at life, we all have on this site. We are all very lucky to be here through a combination of factors. These range from being found early enough to be transported to hospital, by correct diagnosis at hospital, and so on. We all have the opportunity to take stock and re-evaluate our lives as to what is important - not money - but health happiness, family and friends and a quality lifestyle. So view this time as an opportunity to learn more about yourself, and those around you, about the demands made of you and how you can improve them by truly asking yourself what is essential, what is nice to have but not vital, and what you can get rid of or delegate and cut stress. If you feel any negatives, turn the subject round and say what will make this negative a positive. Is it by changing the way you do things, getting someone else to do it or by cutting it out of your life altogether? Sounds like you have a superb bloke by your side. You are a team - that's what marriage is - teamwork. SO face it together, talk about what happened to you often, re-appraise often and work out the best ways forward as you face each situation. You will be amazed at the many different answers you come up with! It will also probably draw you closer together. There isn't a great deal of information about SAH out there so educate those around you to make a difference. You can't see a SAH so you have to communicate to get your message across. I wish you well in your recovery and hats off to your chap - you sound like a great team! Good luck, Macca
