  1. Hi I had a minor op in July under general but no concerns were raised re my SAH at all but had discussed it at the pre-op appointment and they were more than happy to go ahead.
  2. Hi I totally agree Karen it does ultimately come from the taxpayers and must affect other services in the long run. Misdiagnosis and treatment of any condition can cause severe problems to people but with SAHs is there any guarantee that the outcome would have been less severe if treated more promptly. We are all very aware of the risks involved with the types of procedures used and what part of the brain the Anuerysm is located in can have more of an effect on damage caused and recovery.
  3. Hi Rod Hope the Rehab is helping Merrill and its great that you are going to recieve some counselling. It will give you the chance to express the effect the SAH has had on you as you devote all your time to caring for your extra special lady.
  4. Hi Sam Welcome to our group, there is a thread re non-anuerysm will bump it back to top of SAH discussion forum for you. We do have quite a few members who have had this type of bleed so you're not alone. Its nice to hear that you're not suffering pain and discomfort. You will find that your emotions will be all over the place for quite some time yet. You are very early on in the recovery process and it is different for all of us. Try to listen to your body and rest as often as you need to as you may find overdoing things can lead to bouts of extreme fatigue which can make you even more emotional. Look forward to hearing more from you.
  5. Hi Celia From what I can remember the risks are the same for both procedures. Coiling is less invasive but the after effects/recovery is about the same for both. I was clipped and after nearly 3 years still have numbness and tingling around the operation site. I also found I couldn't sleep on that side of my head for a very long time and even now at times it can be painful to lie on.
  6. Hi from one Janet to another I also still get strange sensations from time to time, mind you the left side of my head is still quite numb/fuzzy most of the time. Blurred vision rarely ever now but do get pain in and around the left eye if I'm overtired. I find I have pins and needles on waking in the fingers of my left hand and occassionally in my left toes too. If you're really worried have a chat to your G.P but think a lot of us still suffer with tiredness and the dreaded fatigue especially if we overdo things.
  7. Hi John Welcome to our family as Cal has said you will find lots of advice and friendship on these boards. So sorry to hear about your father it must have been very difficult for you and then to suffer the same thing yourself as well very scarey for you. Your housemate needs a wake up call its you who needs the help and support at the moment and he/she should be at least clearing up their own mess, not leaving it all for you. It is early days for you at the moment but it does get easier over time the important thing is to try listening to your body and rest when you need to. Look forward to hearing more from you.
  8. Hi Most clips are MRI safe but apparently not mine

    paris

Hi Paris Welcome sorry to hear about your partner but as the others have said the anxiety/depression is really hard in the first few months. I think quite a few of us have experienced fear not just of returning to work but also of going out on our own as well. Sending best wishes for the birth of your child and please let us know how you're all getting on.
  11. Hi Lori Welcome to the site look forward to hearing more from you.
  12. Snap Kellie I wake up with pins and needles in my left arm/hand and often get them in the toes of my left foot but only since my SAH.

    Flu Jab

Hi Donna I have to have the flu jab but that is because I have C.O.P.D and Asthma. Its normally people in high risk health groups heart disease, diabetes etc. Andi sounds like a really stressful visit glad she finally did as you asked though.
  14. Celia Thanks for sharing your story with us it took me nearly 2 years to write more than a brief outline of my mine so well done you.
  15. Hi Linda Hope the scan goes well for you will be thinking of you.
  16. Hi Tammy This is a subject that has come up with myself and Morris he like yourself didn't and still doesn't see himself as my carer even though in the first few months after my SAH he definitely was. I think that the families and partners whether they see themselves as carers or not because of having to see their loved ones suffer a Brain Haem and come so close to death are also affected with anxiety and stress. As the others have already said this site is for everyone affected by SAH or stroke as our families and friends also need to be able to understand and share their experiences. So pleased to hear that Neil is doing well now and remember we're here for you both when you need us.
  17. Hi Ray Welcome to BTG hope you find the site as useful as I always have. Look forward to hearing more about you when you're ready. Just remember its very early days for you yet and get plenty of rest the first few months your body wont let you do too much without the awful fatigue kicking in. Take care of yourself.
  18. No worries Andi you'll soon learn your way around
  19. Hi Andi Moved your post to this forum hope you get some answers but unfortunately its not a procedure I know anything about. I'm sure the medical staff will be able to explain why it necessary for you to have it.
  20. Hi Kellie and Welcome As Karen has already said it is very early days yet recovery wise for you. It is good that you have already been referred to a councellor I hope you get some comfort from these sessions. The anxiety does get better slowly and the pains and sensations also get better with time. Be kind to yourself and try to listen to your body and rest when you need to. Take care and look forward to hearing more from you.
  21. Hi Phil Really hope that everything goes well for Sharon. I imagine that the first few days would have been very unsettling for both of you. I truly hope and pray that the next few weeks are good to you both.
  22. Hi Andi Welcome to BTG and thanks for sharing your story with us. I think the anxiety in the first few months is probably the worse thing to adjust too but it does get easier with time. Look forward to hearing more from you.
  23. Hi Rod I agree with the others about the ups and downs the main thing is to make the most of the good days and they do get more frequent with time.
