  1. Hi Debbie so glad that you don't have to wait too long have a fabulous holiday.
  2. Hi John Really sorry to hear that you're still getting messed around. I hope you get a response soon from the complaints procedure and a proper appointment with your Consultant were you can discuss all the issues properly.
  3. Hi Celia Welcome to BTG see from your info that your SAH is fairly recent so hope your recovery is going well. I don't know for certain but think it might be the trauma that causes the hair loss. You mention dread locks any chance they can be unravelled so you don't have to go as drastic as shaving it all off. Take care and look forward to hearing more from you.
  4. Hi Phil How really frustrating for you I know how much it means to you for Sharon to be re-assessed properly and the amount of time you have been fighting for the re-assessment to take place. I really hope that the assessment goes well for Sharon. It sounds like Sharon maybe saves all her energy for trying to communicate with you. Sending lots of love and hugs to you both.
  5. Hi Vicki Welcome to BTG so sorry to hear about your mother as the others have already said it can take time and recovery is a very individual process for all of us. Wishing your mother well in her recovery and please let us know how she gets on.
  6. Evening All Well tired now but had a good day. The support group meeting in Liverpool was really well attended. The Sah nurse from Walton came along and explained the Hormone tests that are being carried out the first group tested was of 10 people who had recently had an SAH the findings obviously are not yet conclusive but some of those tested proved to have just borderline defiencies and wiill be undergoing further tests at regular intervals. It is also thought that pituitary problems are more likely with certain types of bleeds, those more in line with the pituitary which is situated towards the centre of the brain but in line with between the eyes. My visit to Walton was fruitless although I did see my Consultant Mr Eldridge and he did explain that the headpain will probably be permanent he thinks it maybe a nerve pressing against something but apparently the only way to find out would be an MRI which I can't have because of the clip. His Registrar had said it would be safe so obviously some confliction of opinion there. Think I'll take Mr Eldridges word for it he knows what type of clip he used. The treatment is with either anti-depressants or anti-epilepsy drugs already tried a few he will be faxing my G.P with other suitable drugs to try. Had he been able to see what is causing the problem he said another treatment was surgical intervention which in my case he is not prepared to offer just as well as would not have considered that option so will have to carry on living with it. The Consultant also said with regards to hormone tests that a bleed in the area of mine is not thought to affect the pituitary so hopefully my test results when completed will be fine. Walton Neurosurgeons are now referring patients who ask to the Endocrinologist for hormone testing so the original few tested has led to it being available in our area. Hopefully this will be something that will roll out to all other health areas in time.
  7. Hi John Sorry late in responding but really hope you get a satisfactory answer from the Chief Exec. Hopefully a rocket will be put under someones bum it beyond farcical the way you've been treated.
  8. It is still really early in your husbands recovery and the headaches and dizziness do get better but it does take time and unfortunately it can't be measured in weeks. Its must be really hard for you having to come to terms with the effects this is having on your husband but have patience he will start to improve slowly, just make sure he gets plenty of rest and fluids.
  9. Hi Adam Definitely used to get that a lot also just seemed to switch off a lot but it has got better with time. The swiching off only happens when tired and the speed sensation only happens now and again normally in really busy places.
  10. Hi Phil Happy Annie-versary good to hear that you are feeling so well and have managed to return to work. Best of luck on the jobhunting front hope the right job turns up soon for you.
  11. Hi Bessie Don't worry about the Nebulizer all it does it helps to open the airways. If your Mum is having bad panic attacks they can constrict the airways so this is why thay are giving her the nebulizer.
  12. Hi Debbie I agree with everything that Karen has said. Anxiety is always worse when you are alone but it does get easier with time. Good luck with the Angiogram and your son's wedding. Janet x
  13. Hi Nora Welcome and thank you for telling us a bit about yourself. Look forward to hearing more from.
  14. Hi Carol A warm welcome and thank-you for sharing your story with us. If you feel your family and friends don't understand what you're going through get them to visit BTG they will then be aware of what you're having to cope with and come to terms with. Look forward to hearing more from you.
  15. Hi Mollie If you 've been told to take aspirin it is for a reason so don't get yourself all worried. Remember we are all different and some people do have thicker blood aspirin helps to thin the blood and help it flow better. Janet x
  16. Hi Paul Hope Michele is doing well. Is it her G.P or the Neurosurgeon who have told her to take the Aspirin ? As for smoking obviously all medical people urge you to give up smoking and if she can she should try. Although I'm not going ot preach as I still smoke but nowhere near as many as I used to. With regards to Aspirin it wasn't something I was prescribed after my SAH and the only time my Doctor told me to take some was before flying for 2 days either side of the flights. Janet x
  17. Hi Rod No-one will force Merrill into work until she is completely ready to return. Returning to work can be good as it helps with confidence but only when Merrill is ready and well enough to take that step. Wishing Merrill the best of luck with her O.T and hope she doesn't have to wait to long to see a Neurophyschologist. Try not to worry to much about the DLA and if she is turned down the first time you can appeal anyway and then you get the chance to supply all the information. Best wishes to you both. Janet x
  18. Hi Ann I also still suffer setbacks as well especially when I overdo things. It took me quite a while to get my work/life balance right. I now only work 20 hours over 4 days and have an understanding with my employers that if I have something planned for a weekend I can take extra days off either side. I use my Annual Leave to ensure that I have a long weekend at least every 6 weeks and this allows me to re-charge my batteries. Never feel that you are a failure you're not. The hardest thing we have to deal with is coming to terms with ourselves post SAH but as Karen has said we do also sometimes have to push those boundaries even though we know the consequences is the dreaded fatigue and awful brain fog. Hope you recover some of your energy soon but be kind to yourself and rest if you need to . Janet x
  19. Hi Myra Sorry can't really help with this as only suffer with nausea now and gain normally if I'm overtired or my head is really bad. Janet x
  20. Hi Lovely to hear that you have your husband back home with you. What a shame that you didn't get to speak to the Neurological team. Recovery is different for all of us regardless of whether a cause is found. Your husband will feel really tired (fatigued) after even doing the smallest of tasks the most important thing in the early weeks is plenty of rest and fluids. The blood does slowly drain away down the spine thats why some of our members had problems with backpain/legpain. There is an earlier topic on this thread about Non-Anuerysm SAH if you key it in the search box at the top it will bring the subject up for you. It should hopefully answer some of the questions you've not yet been able to ask. Think this is the right link http://www.behindthegray.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=4224 Janet x
  21. Hi John So pleased that at last things are moving for you hope the scan results are dealt with urgently for you. Janet x
  22. Hi Rod Great to hear Merrill is doing so well. Look forward to chatting to er in the chatroom. Janet x
  23. Hi Mollie Is there another Doctors surgery near you might be time to change if you can. You have the right to be listened to and your health concerns, problems treated in a proper manner. Take care sending some big hugs. Janet x
  24. Hi Paul A warm welcome to BTG thank you for sharing yours and Michele's story with us. Its good to hear that Michele is home now but recovery can be 1step forward and several back in the first few months. The headaches, confusion and short term memory problems will get better in time. Michele needs to get as much rest as she can and plenty of fluids which can help with the headaches. Wishing Michele all the best in her recovery but remember you need to look after yourself as well. Please let us know how Michele gets on. Take Care Janet x
