I could go into details about my ups & downs, but I stopped feeling sorry for myself, when it got too much. I turned to many people away, that was a BIG mistake I blamed family members, and friends, for not taking me for what I am, now!! I Rejected all sorts of help and support --yes this might seem out of order!!, but you have to be YOURSELF I now work alongside our local Stroke Service, It's very rewarding. PMA= Positive Mental Attitude, has played a big role in my recovery. Don't, be told your different, you can ADAPT to a different lifestyle. This site, is excellant for Advocacy & Empathy I'm more than willing to chat anytime

  7. Hi Karoz/Karen I have Post Stroke Epilpsey. Mine is now undercontrol, with tablets, it did take a little sorting, as there are many different forms of medication on the market. It might take a little time to find one that is suitable to you. As like Stroke, Epilpsey is also different to many people. It may be, that you will never get another seizure, but no one can say that. Don't panic if you do have one, try and keep calm. You can help your Gp/Specialist, by writting down any patterns of your seizures, also if any certain foods seem to trigger them of. I've information about Epilpsey, I'm more than willing to pass on to you. Don't let the Epilpsey run your life, it can be controlled. There are some very usfull web-sites that also have links to area support groups. If you need a chat, pm me. Your not alone, in this. I asked for help, I got it, now I try to help others.
  8. Ann What wonderfull news. I'm sure when others read this, it will help them. Big well done to you Onwards & Upwards

  10. Welcome Kelvz48. I think you'll find all the information on this site you need, to help you come to terms with your SAH. The Advocacy & Empathy on this site is second to none. Knowing your not alone, is help in it's self. I'm sure between the members of BTG, any questions can be answered, or someone will point you in the right direction. Please take care, your body will tell you when to rest, you'll have to listen to it for a while. Things will get easier, but please don't put a time scale on it. Everyone is different.
  11. Firstly, I'd seek advise from your "Disability Employment Advisor" I think they will have all the updated information at hand. Sounds like your boss is making his/her own rules.
  12. Will read in full and comment soonest--but by your replies, it's not correct.
  13. Hi Tracy The first thing I would do, is book an appointment with your GP. Telling him/her everything. This I would do, if only to put your mind at rest. You Wont be wasting anybody's time. It will also ease your concerns The "Pins & Neddles" feeling, could be "Nerve Damage Repair" the body repairing itself, or could be caused by staying in one position too long. I also get "Pins & Needles" in my Feet & Legs, but I know now, thats sitting incorrectly for too long, small walk sorts that out--In my fingers or hand, gentle rub usually does the trick.
  14. BRILLIANT!! WELL DONE A very hard read, but must have been harder to write. I've still got bit I could add to mine. Thank you & Julie for sharing this.
  15. Hi Karen I'm not a professional, but I can read between the lines. May I suggest that you seek help from your GP. There is some very useful information on this site, I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction if you were to ask. Your not alone-this on-line family, has been a great help to many.

  21. Hi All Well, what started of yesturday (Tues 23rd June) as a Snoring Dog that might have Sleep Apnoea, certantly got a few people responding. I've been asked if I would post some information on this subject. Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) is a condition which causes interruptions in breathing during sleep. For people with OSA, two types of interruptions to breathing can occur. These are described below. Apnoea: during an apnoea, the muscles in the throat relax and cause a total blockage of the throat's airway. An apnoea usually lasts for around 10 seconds. Hypopnoea: a hypopnoea is a partial blockage of the airway, which halves the amount of oxygen that is taken into the body. As with an apnoea, hypopnoea also usually last for around 10 seconds. (Because of these episodes of hypopnoea, doctors sometimes use the term 'obstructive sleep apnoea hypopnoea syndrome').The term 'obstructive' is used to distinguish OSA from rarer forms of sleep apnoea, such as central sleep apnoea, which is caused by the brain 'forgetting' to breathe during sleep. Symptoms of Sleep Apnoea Most people with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) will snore loudly. Their partners may notice that their breathing is laboured and noisy and it can often be interrupted by gasping and snorting as they experience an episode of apnoea. If you have OSA you may have no memory of your sleep being interrupted but you will wake feeling that you have not had a decent night's sleep.
