Hi Elaine

Hope all goes well for your mumwith her appointments. Try not to worry too much with regards to C.T scans I had a C.T scan in the January after my SAH as really bad head and everything was fine. Also has another in April this year as my G.P was concerned re severity of head pain and that was clear too.

So glad to hear that the vomiting is lessening for Maggie as well fingers crossed that it stays that way for her.

Take care Elaine

Hello everyone

Just to keep you updated Maggie saw the Gastro team today and they have referred her for a barium swallow. If that does not show anything they will refer her back to the Neuro team to "think again". Mum has started to be sick again too unfortunately and is feeling very down in the mouth. The Gastro Consultant explained that intra cranial pressure is often worse on a morning (which is when she experiences the awful nausea feeling and vomiting) and that the part of the brain may have been affected which controls senses so who knows!! In the menatime we have two new tabs to try and a follow up app for November (so I am keeping everything crossed that she is not still being sick then)! It's such a shame after all she has been through and she is feeling as I say very despondent.

I was hoping she would be sick all over the Consultant (they did wonder whether it was psychological at one point) but he was so nice and very funny that I changed my mind.

Anyway thats all for now

Sleep tight

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello everyone - Maggie has her Neuro follow up on the 25th Sept so I will keep you posted. After almost five months she has had 5 days without vomiting (now on about the sixth different lot of anti sickness tabs and still taking 6 each day)but I took her to the supermarket today, although it took a very long time I could have cried with joy, I never thought I would see the day again and that grocery shopping could be so much pleasure!!!!!!!!!!!! (how I always hate it). Mum thanked me for a nice day and I felt all choked up. She has had a few falls escaping with just a few bruises so hopefully now she will put on the few stone she has lost as she could sweep the floor with her trousers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is now wanting to know a bit about what happened too. Anyway off to bed shortly. Goodnight all

Hi Elaine

That's great news - I know how much it takes to be able to walk around the supermarket, so well done to your mum.

Louise is right, you're a wonderul daughter and I bet your mum is as proud of you as you of her.

Keep us updated with your mum's progress - who knows maybe one day we'll get to meet you both.

Take care

Thanks for all your messages unfortunately mum has started being sick again these last few days (just when we thought it was under control). She is obviously very disappointed but hey ho at least she is able to walk and talk. It would be great to meet you all some day (I don't think mum would make the joruney) - she would have to bring her"

"sick bowl" - sorry am not making fun we just try to make light of it as it follows her everywhere she goes. I told her I would get her a brand new one for Xmas (sorry that dreadful word) with a nice huge bow on it.

Hey Elaine

Sorry that your mum has been ill again - hopefully it will pass, but like you say at least she's walking and talking now.

Don't worry about laughing about things - sometimes it's the only way we can deal with them - and keeping your sense of humour through all of this will help no end - make sure it's a nice big glittery bow

Take care - love and hugs to you and your mum

Hi all - mum's follow up with the Neuro team has been cancelled for this week as they want to see her after her barium swallow (which has come as no surprise). Mum managed another shopping trip today - it brings tears to my eyes when I see her pushing her trolley. How I used to hate this job but I just love being able to take her with me now.(bless her)
