  1. Hi Chloe, I had testing done for memory, personality, all sorts of stuff and came through with flying colors and I'm sure you will too. They are long tests though. Honestly, toward the end I just started guessing cause I got bored. I am glad to hear you are doing better. It's a long hard haul but little by little we start to see little glimpse of ourselves again. God bless, Iola
  2. Hi, So glad to hear from you. I'm coming up on my one year mark in less than a month and boy what a year it has been. I do not want to repeat it ever! I hear ya about the weather. I am ready for spring! Iola
  3. Hi Daff, This is just my opinion, if you are depressed, give it a try. But, if you are taking the medication for another reason such as, to increase your energy, hold off and try the counseling first. Just my 2 cents. iola
  4. Hi Paul, Mine was non aneurysmal as well and at three months I still felt terrible. At five months I started feeling almost human again and at six months I felt like I was falling backward down the mountain I was climbing. I went to see my neuro and he told me it would be like that. Some days good and some days bad. He said to give it 12-18 months. I am at 11 mos and finally getting there. Still have headaches and the random spiky pains. It's frustrating. Give yourself time and don't overdue. That was my mistake. Water does help. Your brain is like a baby's brain and needs lots of TLC. iola
  5. Hi, I had an NASAH 11 months ago. Glad to hear you are doing so well. Gives me hope. My story is a bit different from yours. I've not had a baby since but you will find people on here that had an NASAH after giving birth and had children some time after their bleed. Iola
  6. Hi Simone, Your story is very similar to mine. Mine was also non aneurysmal and could not find the source of the bleed. I had balance issues too. I walked with a cane for a month or so until I could stabilize myself. I had to sit in the shower and sit to dry my hair, etc... It may take a little while to get your coordination back. I still drop things all the time and today I am exhausted from what I did yesterday and I'm gong on 11 mos. I am 47 and thought I was in excellent health. One never knows what is right around the corner. Rest and let your body repair itself. Iola
  7. Hi Dana, I had mine last April. I was just sitting there minding my own business getting ready to have dinner and wham!!! Thunderclap headache, dizziness, and nausea. I never lost consciousness and was told after the CT and 1st angiogram, they could not find the source of the bleed. After two more angios it was determined I did not have an anni rupture but mine was from an unknown source and most likely a venous bleed. You are very early on and I so remember those days. Drinking water helps with headaches and so does simply resting the brain. Give that ole brain a break and rest so it can get better. Take care of you. iola
  8. Hi Susan, My neuro offered me this powder to mix and drink that is used for Alzheimer's patients that is supposed to aid in healing the brain. I declined. Honestly, I was afraid. Sorry, do not know about a pill. Wouldn't it be great though if one little pill could make it all better? Iola
  9. Hi Paul, I know where you are right now, in your recovery. Its hard. At three months had so much pressure on the head and at almost 11 mos I am just now NOT feeling the dizziness so much. Give yourself time. I drove around 3 months but I'm in the U.S. and things are different here. God bless and know you are healing. I
  10. Hi Bev, I do hope all goes well for you this year. You have been through so much, from reading your threads. I am very sorry about your friends husband. It does bring back painful memories and that long journey back to health or as healthy as can be. I am coming up on my one year mark in April, and I must say I do not want to repeat last year. Whew, what a long haul. God Bless Iola
  11. Thank you Macca. It's amazing what an employer expects from a person. My company laid off 15 people at Christmas and 9 more after. They expect us to wear so many hats. It's crazy and our economy is going down the tubes. I just cannot do what I used to do. You are right, if you do not set limits they will take everything from you. Sad but true. I
  12. Thanks Macca. He was actually there when I had my bleed. I was on travel for work when it happened and he drove me to the hospital and never left me until my husband arrived, which was hours away. I think you hit the nail on the head. He does it because he can and he thinks he's funny. Grrrr... I was not happy. Since this happened my confidence at work is not what it used to be. I was the person you came to for answers. I also worked crazy hours. I never stopped. I just do not want to work the hours I did and feel am not the asset I thought I once was. Cannot decide if I care though. I
  13. I absolutely love reading these stories. Gives me such hope of full recovery. I am at 10 months and finally seeing some decent days. Good luck and God bless you. I
  14. Hi Win, I'm so sorry you are down. One thing I have learned about doctors are some know more than others. Some comfortable with what they learned 20 yrs ago and others keep abreast on the latest research. Do what feels right to you. I
  15. Hi Gail, Same here. No aneurysm but still a bleed nonetheless. I have suffered from depression since mine 10 months ago and I never did before. I still get feelings if dread, which I think is anxiety since my heart races when I get these feelings. It's such a long and winding road. Iola
  16. Hi Dawn, Sometimes I think I'm paranoid and worry I am not performing up to par. I worry that peope define me by what happened rather than who I am. My boss chastised me twice in a meeting today. He did that before but now I wonder if he is doing it because he feels I am not doing my job as I used too. My lack of self esteem, I think. Don't be so hard on yourself. Easy for me to say. . Ask for the one-on-one training. I believe it shows initiative and the desire to do your job well. Iola
  17. Wow, I just had the chance to read this thread. What a journey and more to come. You both are in my prayers. God bless you both. Iola
  18. Hi Teechur, I am now 10 months and I understand. I never feel quite right. I take Tylenol every day and just got the third occipital nerve block shot for pain that likes to spike through my left eye. I just cried the other night and told my husband I wish I could just feel good again. Seems so simple, but, what a challenge. I, too, feel incredibly blessed but I miss feeling healthy. I know God is healing me in His time and I must be patient. Still, I would love to be the heathy me again. I have noticed as long as I am active I feel good, but, as soon as I settle in for the evening it all settles in on me. The dizziness and headache. Ugh. You have a lot on your plate. I see you do love what you do. Maybe you may have to think about some "you time". Headaches are miserable. Please take care of you. I
  19. Hi, I can't say I wanted to be alone, but, I did not want phone calls or to talk to anyone for a lengthy amount if time. It was just too exhausting. I have to give you kudos for being confident enough to be on your own. Please be careful not to shut people completely out of your life though. Your family and friends are trying to figure out how to help you and what to say. I am sure they are nervous and worried. It's all such a shock and takes time to absorb. I
  20. Hi, I have had terrible stabbing pains from the back of my head thru my left eye. It comes and goes. The first time it was with me for about 2 weeks and then left. I went to see my neuro and we agreed to start Occipital Nerve Block shots. A series of three within three weeks. Not fun but they have helped me. Some people have to continue to take them within 6 or 9 months of the first three, but, I am not at that point. There seems to be a good success rate so time will tell. Ask your doctor about it and see what he says. I
  21. The book I just finished reading talked about the importance of resting the brain. I am also a doer so I was never good at resting, even in the early stages and I paid the price. But, while resting, it is important to simply rest in silence. Let the brain heal. When awake, I believe it is good to be alert and challenge the brain without over doing it. Baby steps for the "baby" brain. Oh, congrats on hitting the 3 month mark Chloe. Yay! iola
  22. Hi Glyn, My bleed was from an unknown source. No AVM, no aneurysm. It's called a non-aneurysmal SAH (NASAH). Still a bleed nevertheless. Weakened/primitive vein, they think. I just hit my 10 month mark and I must say its been an arduous journey. Everyone is different though. You may bounce back much quicker. Take the advice of others here and take it easy and do not do too much too soon. Iola
  23. Hi Glyn, It is amazing to me every time I read a story about the paramedics thinking its just a migraine. Thank goodness you did get the help you needed. I was in the hospital for 12 days. Seems like a very bad dream now. Was your bleed from an aneurysm rupture or was the source never found? Hope you are feeling better. I
  24. Hi, God love ya, you are a miracle. Truly. To survive what you did and the fact you told the folks in Emergency you were having a stroke and they did nothing. Incredible. You are in the US and so am I. Many people on the forum are in Europe and that may be the threads you are reading in regards to driving. Yes, a bleed in the brain is considered a stroke. I am sure you are on the fast track to well again but don't push too quickly. Be careful and rest yourself. Iola
