  1. Hi Ashley & Kim A very warm welcome to BTG ! I agree with Louise & Jane....I would definitely make an appointment with your GP and also one with your Consultant to get some answers and some peace of mind. Don't wait 6 months and drive yourselves mad with worry. Kim wishing you well with your recovery. Ashley take care too. Keep in touch and let us know how you both get on. Take care Tina xx
  2. Hi Caroline lovely to hear from you Really good to read you have rebuilt your life and very busy, although life very different, well done you ! Be very proud My family sometimes say to me 'I told you that and you have forgotten' like Jess has said, I try not to let it worry me. Try not to worry either......we all have good and bad days, even your husband and daughters even if you do forget sometimes I think you have a very good excuse ! Wishing you and your family a very Happy Christmas too Caroline. Take care and keep in touch. Tina xx
  3. Gilly feel free to ramble away here anytime Glad you are on a waiting list to see a Neurologist and also hope you don't have to wait too long. My GP also knew nothing of SAH as I was the first that he had come across that had survived. He said he is learning from me. I have to say he has been very supportive and always listens to me. He originally misdiagnosed me as having a sick bug. I have had lumbar punctures, not pleasant are they, bless you. Well done for getting back to work. I think for most of us now, we just have to pace ourselves and listen to our bodies. So be kind to yourself as Karen ( the amazing lady that created BTG ) once said to me, and it is so true. If you push too hard, your body will let you know ! Glad you are finding some comfort here and as Colleen has said, keep coming back. Take care xx

Feel free to join in the daily banter in the Green Room Look forward to hearing more from you. Take care Tina xx

  7. Hi Susan A very warm welcome to BTG, glad you found us. Love your quotes : "Every time you find humour in a difficult situation, you win." "It doesn't matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop." "In youth we learn, in age we understand" How exciting one Grandson and another Grandchild on the way My Daughter is expecting her first baby beginning of April, I can't wait ! Look forward to hearing more from you. Take care Tina xx
  8. Hi Sharon A very warm welcome to BTG. Firstly congratulations on getting back to work so soon. So sorry you have been pushed too quickly to do a 12.5 hour shift. Not surprised your brain has switched off ! Your body has a way of letting you know you are doing too much. I am glad your GP has signed you off again. Please don't let it knock your confidence, I think work has a lot to answer for. They did not listen to your consistent concerns of it all being too much too soon. Hopefully you can rest up and re charge those batteries until you feel ready to start back to work again at a pace right for you. There are some great posts on the Forum of others that have had similar problems. I will find some links that may help you. http://web.behindthegray.net/index.php?/topic/4235-employment-and-disability-service-eads/#entry64663 http://web.behindthegray.net/index.php?/topic/3834-returning-to-work-any-advice/#entry56841 http://web.behindthegray.net/index.php?/topic/4151-work-pressure/#entry62735 Glad you found us and feel free to join in the banter in The Green Room. Take care Tina xx
  9. Hi Paul Sorry you are having such a bad time at the moment. I found it very hard in the early days to do much at all. I could not stand up because of balance, double vision, head pains, weakness and extreme fatigue. I also had a ruptured berry aneurysm base of brain stem like you. My husband told me it took at least a year for me to be able to do little things for a very short while. I then had to rest up for a day maybe two. What I am trying to say is it will get better over time. I have learnt to do one thing at a time and pace myself. I used to get very frustrated I was not the person I was, still do sometimes and I am nearly 8 years on since my SAH. Also felt useless and guilty it had happened. Cant multi task, so don't anymore or I get in a panic and get very stressed. Have to plan everything. Cant cope with surprises. Maybe go back to your GP or Consultant if you have not already and explain how you are feeling and hopefully they can help you with ways of coping. You have a lot to cope with on top of your bleed. I had counselling, it helped to talk to someone away from family & friends. Let us know how you are doing. Wishing you well Paul, concentrate on you and getting well.

    A Journey in Verse

Macca, a beautifully written 'journey in verse' thank you for sharing & bless you too xx
  18. Hi Nicky A very warm welcome to BTG. Thank you for sharing your story. It's very early days for you. Things will get better, it just takes time and sometimes you take one step forward and two steps back. It is a very emotional traumatic time for you and your family. Be kind to yourself and listen to your body. Your brain has had a major trauma and as Win has said your brain will need to rest up a lot as it is healing as well as trying to carry on as normal. Wishing you well with your recovery. Good luck with your scans in December. Glad you found us. Look forward to hearing more from you. Take care Tina xx

  20. Hi Luke Glad you had a good day with your Mum yesterday and her mood had improved & that she was accepting that she can't come home until she's better. I think its a great idea you and your Dad doing up the spare room for her. A lovely surprise. As the others have said already she will need lots of rest, times when she will just want to be quiet and not talk or see anyone. Her emotions will be all over the place, just trying to cope with what's happened and getting better. Wishing your Mum, You & your dad well. Take care Tina
