Vivien
For the past couple of months I have had pain in my left eye, kind of round the socket and it is a bit puffy and dark ( I use a lot of concealer ). I went to the docs and he thought it might be an infection behind my eye, so I had antibiotics and was told to come back if it didn't go away. I finally went back to see the gp this week, it was a locum doctor. When he found out my history of having had an SAH and having dystonia, he sent me for urgent blood tests, which came back normal and an eye test, which was normal except that I need reading glasses He phoned me yesterday morning and is referring me back to the neuro surgeon! I know in my rational head that it is more than likely to do with my sinuses, but my panicking head is going into overdrive, wondering why I have to go back to the neuro. Anyone else had eye pain or have any idea why I have to go back to the hospital? Vivien x
Karen
Hi Vivien, Yes, I still get eye socket pain .... it's always worse if I hit a period of fatigue or just generally tired. I just put it down to the third nerve palsy that I had when I had the SAH. My GP tends to be more cautious with me now and will refer me straight to the Neuro Consultant at the local hospital, if I have any head issues and where he feels that specialist knowledge is needed. May be it's the same with you and they're just making sure that all is okay? I know that it's quicker to get a scan if they think you need one, once you've seen the Consultant, rather than going through the GP. It may just be a case that the Neuro C will check you out and advise on appropriate medication to help the eye pain? That's happened with me in the past with the nerve pain. It might be worth making a telephone appointment with your GP and asking them as to why, you're being referred and should you be concerned? etc It might put your mind at rest Vivien, as I often think that we worry more about the unknown. Wishing you luck ......xx
Super Mario
I had the same sort of pain pre SAH several times, I felt as though I could tear my eye out, so painful it was. Is yours like that? I was sent to the eye clinic where iritus was diagnosed and is only treatable by steroid drops. I would ask to be referred to an eye clinic as well. I think that because you have had an SAH doctors often automatically think that it is the cause of many other symptoms. I am no way medically qualified and the above is just a suggestion as what it could be.

tennissmithy
I do too, I often describe it as someone stabbing me with a screwdriver in my eye!!!Horrible pain! It was weird though because it seems to be worse now i'm 3 years on, I don't really remember it early on in my recovery
Gill C
Yesterday I ahd the pain Laura describes, the stabbing pain whcih seems similar to anni pain although it doens't last. I hav noiced some single vision so maye it's more nerves healing & ecovering from the bruising it suffered?
Sandi K
Gill and Laura how scary it must be to have stabbing pain. I haven't had anything so severe since my NASAH. I get pains for sure, but not to the the degree that I'm scared of another event. But.... As I'm learning, every day is new and anything can happen. It's nice to be forewarned! Vivian, I've had a pain running across my left temple for days about a month after my NASAH. It has subsided. Both my eyes have been sore and blurry to various degrees every day since it happened almost 3 months ago. Wondering if I'll need glasses now, have used reading glasses in the past. I hope you are feeling better today. Sandi K.
Vivien
Well, I am off for an MRA scan today, apparently my annie was two centimetres from my left eye, so they need to have a look to rule out anything going on with it. I will post results when I get them Vivien
kempse
Good luck Vivien, It will be nice to hear how you go on - I have an unruptured annie close to my opthalmic artery and have often wondered how close that is to my eyes:frown: Sarah

Vivien
Hi all, well I finally got the results from my scan, my 2mm remnant is stable, so that is good They did however find that the left mastoid air cells are filled with fluid, so now I have to go see an ENT specialist. At least I now know what the problem is and can stop worrying that it is annie related Vivien x
